Exactly. If you aren’t going to marry someone who’s unequally yoked with (which is you’re Christian you shouldn’t) then why waste your ti and that persons time. I date to marry not to just have fun because marriage is important to me. It’s not just a union between two people but a union with God and those two people if done correctly so I would never entertain something that would cause damage to that. It’s kinda like dating someone who you have completely different views on life and what’s right and wrong. It will lead to gridlock which isn’t good for you, the other person, or both of your relationships with God.

Why waste your time? You know you're not gonna ever wanna marry someone? You know something will eventually be a major problem? The looks do not last, people. Even if the looks "last," your eyes eventually adjust and the flesh is never satisfied. Unimaginable, I know. Especially when you first start dating. Why waste kisses??? You could be using your time to grow and work on you, and be better prepared for when you do meet your future spouse with less baggage. Lemme beat the dead horse more: Let's say you date someone who after date number 4 you realized, ".. oh, this is going to be a problem of the nature I can see me not marrying you over.." but you stay dating anyway "just cause they're cute" or whatever the "you know is weak" reason is, and 5 months to a couple years passes... and finally, after getting over it all, the initial love high ends, you will have wasted that many years of your life. Gone. You cannot get that back, and yet you knew from the start, this was a waste of time... have the non negotiable list set from the get go. What are the things that maybe aren't ideal but you can get over (nobody is perfect, everybody sins, you're gonna need forgiveness too, after all) and don't compromise. Know your must haves, and your must not haves. Know your weaknesses. Know your strengths. Focus on God and improving as a human while you wait on God to provide that spouse you're praying for. Pray for that future spouse. And you don't wanna waste someone else's time who you're not right for either. Be respectful of their time also. They will probably be less devastated the sooner you break up than if you were to let them continue dating you, potentially hoping for a future. They could've been spending time finding the right person also.

You fellas are precious. It’s so hard to remain true to your faith and morals in today’s world. It’s encouraging to me to see young men even having these discussions. Do I agree with all of your opinions? No, but I think a lot of those things come as you grow in spiritual maturity. I’m in my mid 30s and just went through a divorce I didn’t want because I was unequally yoked. I didn’t realize this until the divorce process began. My husband had been in church his entire life, we went to church and small group together, but I compromised a lot of my standards and ignored signs that he wasn’t a believer to stay in the relationship. God’s word is clear that you shouldn’t bond yourself to an unbeliever, and that instruction encompasses ALL relationships, not just romantic. In my life, every single time I’ve invested heavily in any type of relationship with a professed non-believer, or a person who does not demonstrate spiritual fruit but claims to be a believer, I have been left disappointed and deeply hurt. This is an example of another boundary that God sets for our protection, and it’s in our best interest to respect that and obey. Don’t think you can change a person, lead them to Christ through your relationship, or justify unequal yoking in any way. Yes, we should share Christ with unbelievers, and yes we should even have friendships with them - but you should never consider an unbeliever to be your “best friend” or allow them into your inner circle. It’s so easy to be deceived and little by little compromise until you lose yourself. I speak from experience, as a young woman going through heartbreak that came as a result of ignoring both God’s word and also prompting from the Spirit to end a relationship. I believed my example could change my fiancé’s heart and that he just needed to mature. As a result, I lost my marriage when he found his soulmate in an unbeliever he felt he connected with better. Now I am a single mom watching my ex-husband and his new wife live the life I thought I would have, and the person who stole my husband is now my son’s stepmom. Do yourself a favor and implement the boundary now before your heart gets in a place where you compromise.

I think it’s ok to date someone (with intentions to marry) outside your religion if you’ve prayed about it and the answer was to date them. When me and my now husband were friends/when we were dating- He has always been a Christian and I myself was lost, I wasn’t sure if I believed in the true God but I didn’t deny the possibility of any god existing. I was unsure really. But, I always admired my now husbands spirit and how he held himself. He was always so sure, even in bad situations it seemed as though nothing could knock him. One day I asked him how he was able to stay calm and know what to do even when it felt like the world was falling (I had debilitating anxiety). He told me to that it was because he didn’t need to worry, that God knew what he was doing and that he always knew he was safe no matter what might happen. After a slight interrogation on how he knew it was true (y’know that talk). I got the Bible app and started reading and the Lord spoke to me through his word and dreams, visions. I told my now husband (at the time my boyfriend) that I thought the lord was calling me, he bought me a Bible and gave me a letter with it that he wrote all his favorite/helpful verses in. I was saved, healed of my crippling anxiety, and later baptized after we married. He is a huge part of my testimony, I truly believe that the lord put him in my life as a light so that I may see the Lord clearly. He told me later that after meeting me and hearing I wasn’t a Christian that he prayed for me daily that I would come to know God and his prayers were answered (thank goodness). PRAY ABOUT IT YALL- the Father listens ❤️🩹

This is terrible advice to give to young couples considering dating.Glad it worked out for you, but the chances are very slim for this kind of thing to happen. God will also never contradict himself , he says not to be unequally yoked period.Your husband then was probably still not yet a firm believer, because if He really loved God he would have just obeyed period.He loved you more than he loved God but thankfully, God always works in every situation and you can never under estimate God.Glad you saw the light and were saved. However, you cannot pray for God to help you Pursue sin that he deliberately told you to stay away from.And please don’t share this advice with other young youths, it’ll only cause heartbreak for them in the long run and massive baggage. God bless🙏🏼

Modesty is definitely concerning the heart, but I do believe it also should involve one’s appearance since lust is something young people struggle with, especially young single people 😅 This includes both genders 😊 I mean so many people don’t take Christians seriously because of how we dress tbh. Like considering when preaching to muslims. Modesty is a huge thing for them, appearance wise. Just my opinion tho 👀

To add to what you said the bible also says not to be a stumblingblock so when we know we live in such a lust driven world why would wouldn't we as Christians adjust our wardrobe to at least avoid the main trigger clothing guys and girls wear. Also so many benefits like you'll decrease attracting jezabel lukewarm Christians who are interested in us for the wrong reasons, you help protect your siblings in Christ, you can preach better as people won't be distracted by the inmodesty when giving a sermon or evangelizing and more

That is sooo true! As young people we can easily get side tracked. I've seen some people say that we "over-dress". That is kind of true but all christians have different styles and me personally, I like to dress nice because it makes me feel better. Looking presentable is something I to take into account when I enter the house of the Lord. Also, different churches have different dress codes. All in all, we represent Christ and that is all that matters!😇♥

@Himmiefan8 күн бұрын
The Bible doesn't say that the man is the head of the house. Christ and only Christ determines doctrine. The apostles in the Bible can only explain his teachings, or they were just dealing with a certain situation at that time. So, the basis of the Ephesian verses is Christ’s command to love one another, and Chapter 5 even starts with that. So, under the umbrella of equality (5:21, set aside selfish tendencies and submit to one another), the wife submits (received from and supports) to her husband, and the husband’s leadership is to love and care for his wife just as Christ loves and cares for his church (acts of service to support). There is no hierarchy/obedience/who is the boss, etc. no who is the head of the house, etc.(that view is from the sinful, fallen world). It all goes back to how to love one another. Paul was actually addressing the Roman household codes where the husband/father was the head as in ruler. Paul is saying no, your headship is not as the boss but as the one who loves your wife and supports her as Christ loves and supports the church.

My thoughts are that a lot of these "nuanced conversations" come down to where you're at in the process of sanctification. Like, the Bible may not tell us blatantly say we can't to listen to certain music, or show skin, or follow people we find attractive on social, but... these decisions often show our heart posture, and how closely we are in our walk with God, and where you might be giving footholds to the devil, and flirting with the world/temptation.. some of it comes down to what you've said (christian girls/boys vs. Wo/men of God). The bible tells us not to be unequally yoked, to avoid temptation, to keep our eyes (off worldly things) on things above, not to lust after others, etcetera. I try to take that to heart, and guard my heart (eyes, body, etc.), to trust Him, and His timing.

I definitely don't think it is a good idea to date someone who has a different faith as you, because the longer you date someone who isn't the same faith as you, the harder it is going to be when you break up with them. Missionary dating is never a good idea because most of the time it doesn't work, or the person you are dating starts to pretend to be Christian just to please you (ik this from experience HAHA). And also yes, I do think it is sinful to knowingly enter into a marriage with an unbeliever ("Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?" - 2 Corinthians 6:14). It will save Christians a lot of heartbreak if they don't date unbelievers!

On the dating someone in a different or no religion question, I kinda agree it's OKAY. Why? Because I think that sometimes God might just be working in that person, and maybe I can have the ability to help lead them to Christ. However, I understand the whole date to marry (which I also agree with), and that we can't change someone despite the efforts we may put forth, but I would never say "no, never do this," because maybe it's the right thing to do... if any of this made sense lol For the question on living together, it is "inherently wrong" in my opinion, because we are told to not even live in a way that could *look* like we are in sin, such as living with someone before being married leading people to believe you're sleeping together.
@chroniclesofjoi Жыл бұрын
No offense but I’m lowkey confused with the far right guy’s reasoning when it came to the question of dating outside Christianity, which he was okay with but then it’s a solid you shouldn’t live together before marriage. It’s both temptation. You’re being tempted to pursue someone you KNOW doesn’t share the same belief as you and entertaining that idea for whatever reason but you’re not going to live together with someone you’re about to live together with anyway?????? They’re both tempting situations in my opinion lol😅

I was not a believer when I married my husband. He is an atheist. I have now been a believer for 5 year with a heart on fire for Christ. I love my husband dearly and he is supportive of me always. However, it does create challenges to married to someone who does not have the same fire. Date to marry.

U dont always have to pray for someone on the spot. Many times we can pray on our own in sincerity for that person. God is the one doing the work and He uses those prayers to work in their lives and help them. God knows no distance and we dont always have to be with the person physically for God to use those prayers. There was a testimony from Dutch Sheets where a pastor or someone, after God told him very clearly....He knew that He knew it was God, prayed in tongues for 15 minutes and a woman who had a deadly disease in another continent got healed. God is not bound by time or place.

Think about dating outside the faith this way. If you’re standing on top of the chair and you’re strong in your faith, the person whose faith is different than yours is standing on the floor. Because you decide to “missionary” date, that person whom youre dating will have an easier time pulling you down then you pulling them up. Even Jesus says don’t be unequally yoked. Omg i wanted to scream at the dating atheists part- it is in the Bible not to date and marry a sinner! Gosh, why even entertain that. You need to be prayed for and pulled to Christ. God literally said it multiple times in the Bible, do not marry a sinner, do not marry someone who isnt a christian, why even do that? One goes to heaven and another to hell? One isnt leading you to God? No way

What the what? The Bible specifically says "Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers!" Why would you date an athiest or a Buddhist or something? We're specifically told not to!
