Powerful stuff. Y'all are awesome and i love your skits and songs. I too came to Christ by being humbled, by crying out to an unknown God. In my early 30s I was an atheist, prideful, ungrateful, convinced that my good fortunes (family, job, house) were accomplishments rather than blessings. But having been diagnosed with an aggressive cancer, I was facing the loss of it all. In my state of mortal peril, while alone in my hospital room receiving chemo, i prayed to God I didn't believe in, begging to know "why?" Specifically, I contemplated the cross, Jesus' sacrifice, it didnt make sense to me. I distinctly heard a quiet voice say "it's a gift." I couldnt stop thinking about it after that. What is a gift? Life? Cancer? Jesus? Yes: Jesus, God's son, crucified and raise to life, is the greatest gift of God to humanity; we desperately need Jesus for salvation. I didnt know at the time that was a sound biblical view, or way of explaining the gospel, I thought that I discovered something 😅. I said yes to Jesus a few months after that, and was baptised about a year later. Yall keep it up, love your content!

1 Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, laying aside every weight and the sin which so easily entangles us, let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Heb 12:1-2. Thank God we have Jesus as the perfector of our faith, and it isn't based on us. When we stumble, we have Jesus.

I just subscribed! I like how you do both fun and serious stuff and songs with quality in different styles/genres! I wish I could be friends with you, but I love far, far away in Sweden… I’m also a musician, in the church of Sweden (originally super Lutheran, but in recent years a very secular church unfortunately, but it’s okay on a local level, and hopefully God will soon revive it.) This weekend I gave our confirmation students (don’t know if it exists outside Scandinavia; 14-15 year olds learning more about Christian faith during around a year, ”confirming their baptism”- most of them are even today already baptized, though a very secular culture; those who aren’t have to be if they want to go through with it and be ”confirmated”) the bibel word I think is the most important one, most ”to the core”- even more than John 3:16; Rom 10:9 (that one about believing in your heart and confessing with your mouth, to be saved.

Sometimes I go out in the backyard and jump and down just for practice. I firmly hold to a pre/trib rapture, and I am committed to hold that position until the tribulation has obviously begun. At which point I will firmly hold to a mid-trib rapture position which I will diligently maintain for approximately 3 1/2 years, after which I will continue in prayer and watch and listen carefully for the trumpet.

That kind of foundation puts the necessity and beauty of Jesus' sacrifice into stark relief. I didn't know you guys got married, congratulations. Many blessings to you both, expecting married life memes now. 😅Earl grey tea is my favourite too, it's got character. My cat is an adult kitten too hehe. As to singleness, 1 Cor 7 seems to be speaking of the gift of celibacy not singleness in general; Paul wasn't just single in a season so when he says 'like himself' he's talking about the gift of a celibate life spent in service of God. Doug Wilson has a good teaching on it.
@ashley.g Жыл бұрын
As the person who asked the question about Amanda's experience with people called to singleness (though I didn't ask if it was a gift), I wanted to comment on your comment about word choice. When I was first called, I also used the word celibacy and I agree with you that it better represents what the calling involves. However, I was advised by a leader that it would be better (and less scary to people) if I used the word "singleness." I use both but tend toward "singleness" for that reason as well as the fact that many people I talk to are not familiar with the term "celibacy" at all. But there is definitely an important distinction to be made between general singleness and the gift of singleness. I think picking terminology is tricky and there are pros and cons to both options. Same with choosing when to say calling and when to say gift. That was another thing I found interesting in their response - the resistance to seeing it as a gift. There are interpretations of what it means that it is a gift that I disagree with, but when I was called I had never heard of it and the one thing I knew instantly was the fact that it was a gift. There is also the verse in which Paul says he wishes all were like himself but people have different gifts. Which is actually the same word he uses in passages where he talks about spiritual gifts which is interesting.
@zacdredge3859 Жыл бұрын
@@ashley.g I use the term celibacy in a technical sense to make that exegetical clarification because singleness is merely a state and can mean a variety of things. If you prefer to use 'singleness' in casual conversation that's fine, just wanted to be clear. Hope you can serve faithfully in whatever ways God has gifted you. There's a long history of monastic Christians who have dedicated themselves to God in this way so maybe a good idea to read up on them. I'm studying Church history in my theology course and I found it an interesting area.

I got into the new age as well and then I asked God to tell me the true way to heaven for about 40 days .my home was full of evil spirits who were tormenting me day and night due to new age and all the doors I’d opened. After 40 days or so God got me to a church where they were telling their testimonies of why they remained in the faith and he appeared whilst they were reciting the creed. afterwards he showed me two open visions and showed me the narrow gate-Matt 7:13-15 and another vision of down in the cavernous place and an evil being. I went down and met him face to face-goat head/human body. Keeping this very brief. I was the same I had tried suicide. Occult involvement makes you depressed and suicidal. It ruins your relationships because if evil spirits get a foothold they try divide loving relationship and kill you. I’ve a long testimony-just keeping it very brief. Anyways I’m older we are similar I sing and have a dry sense of humour like comedy and acting. You’re a great musician. Keep up the good work you two. for your parents pray the prayers from Eph 1&3 -they’re important. I would include them and cover their sleeping hours as well as the day-when I was coming out of the new age the Lord woke me one night and I realised the demons I was seeing in the day time were in my dreams and they had just been speaking to me sweetly like little children programming me saying “isnt God bad-he kills people and makes them sick” (of course scripture tells us who really does this) another time I realised they can appear as family members and program ‘influence division in our sleep and pray for their hearts it’s vip. And command satan to loose their minds (check out Carlos annacondias book “listen to me satan” and his videos in English-there’s an old revival one he did that is VERY good-you’’ll enjoy it) and forbid satan to influence their will against salvation and all matters pertaining to salvation. Remember you are seated in heavenly places with Christ Jesus -check out celebrate freedom ministries on here -they do discipleship wed. Sign up and John Fenn cwowi. Sign up for his newsletter. They’re good. Ok God bless your ministry.

I was brought into christianity through a protestant through god. I believe god helped me leave my old sinful lifestyle full of pagan practices that made me feel schizophrenic and also made me loose track of my own identity. I almost became trans funnily enough. I was doing all sorts of depraved stuff. I promise that as soon as I started praying due to hopelessness and a little information from my Christian friend all these symptoms gradually started disappearing, the first thing that god got rid of was my schizophrenic paranoia induced by tarot cards. that shit is PURE demonic. and then after some time I actually started doing less and less depraved things. eventually I started getting into orthodoxy and my life has just been better ever since!! I love you Jesus and I will never give in to Satan amen!

Just found you guys! Love your content and your testimonies. ❤ loving the kjv song. Hilarious. I am listening to you guys talk about free will and God sovereignty. Please check out Leighton flowers on this topic. Listen to how he explains the Father drawing to the Son. And how this is about God drawing the true believers to the Son in this time before the crucifixion and resurrection. Jesus later says that when He is raised up, He will draw all men to Himself. It helps to understand the context in John and how the Father is drawing those to the So that were already following listening, and believing in God, the Father. God was entrusting the true believers to the Son at this time. It does not mean that you can only come to Jesus, if God elects you or something like that for us today. This was specific to that time during Jesus’s ministry before He was crucified and it was dealing with the Jews. These questions have confused me many years and what I have learned has really helped give me peace in these areas and understanding of the book of John. I hope that it will help you. Leighton’s channel is called Soteriology101 on KZbin and he has written a few books on these topics. Can’t wait to keep watching!!

Way to drop Pr. 16:4 right out the gates with # 10 bro. That's my go-to for at least demonstrating that God is the one on the Throne ultimately. We don't understand the mystery of how he predestines our volition, but that's what Scripture clearly teaches.

21 min mark, despite claiming to not be Calvinists, y'all basically described a typical Calvinist position on the Sovereignty-Freedom/Responsibility tension (or at the very least, did not say anything that would contradict it). I wouldn't be surprised if y'all became robust Calvinists with a few more years and exposure to Reformed books and material.
@rosamundraven Жыл бұрын
The predestination vs free will talk seems to be, to me, fruit of misunderstanding of the meanings of words and just an incapacity on our modern minds to think outside of the materialistic zeitgeist. Olavo de Carvalho, a Brazilian philosopher, explained that this discussion isn't about one vs the other, but both work together. You can't have free will without predestination. Example: in order to choose to go right or left on a street, the street needs to already been built in a way that allows you to go either right or left. A street that only allows you to go left can give you the choice to go right. I hope I could've explained in a way that makes sense. And, with all that talk we need to remember that God is outside time, I mean he created time, and we are inside time, so it is difficult for us to understand how would things work outside time and space. Sometimes we just need to accept that we won't always comprehend everything, and that's fine and this makes everything more mysterious and amazing! God bless!❤

@@abundantharmony Oh, nice. It's a good explanation; quite simple to understand. Thank you for telling me, I haven't hear Mike talk about this. Is definitely a better understand of the whole free will conversation than this "versus" idea that we in general have in our modern minds. 👍

We keep the commandments out of love for God and not because we are saved by them. 1 John 2 shows that whoever knows Jesus keeps God's commandments and whoever says he knows Him or believes in Him and does not keep the commandments is a liar. You can't really separate the commandments from Jesus. Jesus is the righteousness and therefore also the law. You definitely cannot separate it. Whoever loves Jesus will automatically do good works and keep the commandments. 1Jo 5:3 For this is the loue of God, that we keepe his commandements, and his commandements are not grieuous 1Jo 2:3 And hereby wee doe knowe that we know him, if we keepe his commandements. 1Jo 2:4 He that saith, I knowe him, and keepeth not his commandements, is a lyer, and the trueth is not in him. 1Jo 2:5 But who so keepeth his word, in him verely is the loue of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him. 1Jo 2:6 He that sayeth he abideth in him, ought himselfe also so to walke, euen as he walked.
