Albert Einstein, official 1921 Nobel Prize in Physics The following is an excerpt from an interview printed in The Saturday Evening Post, Oct. 26, 1929 entitled, “What Life Means to Einstein”… Q. To what extent are you influenced by Christianity? A. As a child I received instruction both in the Bible and in the Talmud. I am a Jew, but I am enthralled by the luminous figure of the Nazarene. Q. Have you read Emil Ludwig’s book of Jesus? A. Emil Ludwig’s Jesus is shallow. Jesus is too colossal for the pen of phrasemongers, however artful. No man can dispose of Christianity with a bon mot. Q. Do you accept the historical existence of Jesus? A. Unquestionably! No one can read the Gospels without feeling the actual presence of Jesus. His personality pulsates in every word. No myth is filled with such life. Blaise Pascal (1623-1662) World-renowned mathematician and philosopher ranked in the same class as Sir Isaac Newton. Introduced the first calculating machine, forerunner of the modern computer. The metric unit of measuring pressure, the Pascal, is named after him. The following is an excerpt from an interview printed in Great Books of the Western World, No. 33: Pascal left on record that he had come to know “the God of Abraham, God of Isaac and God of Jacob”, and that he “resolved total submission to Jesus the Messiah”. Pascal reached the conclusion that the only serious quest here on Earth was for God, and that the path to Him was charted in the Old Testament, the sign was posted in the New Testament, and the light that illuminated the path was his faith. This is the conclusion of the entire matter: Fear God and keep His Commandments, for this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every deed into His judgment, together with every secret thing, whether it is good, or whether it is evil. [Eccl 12:13-14]

This how I would answer as an Atheist: 1) innocent, I made the most rational decisions with my life based off the information that I had available to me. 2) not have hell looming over people at all as a threat. Or create a system like the good place. 3) the resurrection story isn’t an incredible thing only an insane god would make a system where the only way to forgive sins is to become human, die through cruxifixction, then resurrect but only forgive those that believe in the story. You know what even a human would do. Just forgive unconditionally makes humans better then the god in that aspect which is supposed to be impossible. 4) No, the Jesus story makes far more sense as a fictional story created by people to replace the animal sacrifices that were being done during Yom Kippur because people thought they were barbaric.
@BurnFireBlaze Жыл бұрын
I don’t mean to be rude but to debate you a bit 1. If you are given a rule book that has the rules in it and you choose not to read it and get in trouble, you still are accountable because the choice was yours not to read and understand the rules set. 2. Hell was not a place Ment for us it is a place without him and his presence, for sinners like the devil and his followers to be punished but due to the fall of man brought on by Adam and Eve we became sinners not fit to be in Heaven with god. God does not send us to hell we send ourselves there every time we deny god until god finally gives you what you want and lets you go to the place without him there at all, Hell. 3. By that logic then witness accounts at a crime scene or witness testimonies for crimes just shouldn’t count or play a factor? Even if documented? God is not just some big voice saying rules he is a parent and we are made in his image and like any parent they can get upset there children are not following rules and doing things that lead them down a dangerous path, the child may not see the bigger picture in trying times and times that seem unfair or bad but that parent does what’s best for there child. We trust our parent to know best so why not trust a parent greater than even that. 4. How do you know there were sacrifices? Maybe some text or items and places discovered? Maybe writing depicting and describing people back then? What makes these accounts more credible than Jesus accounts? Which were better documented?
@cyranium Жыл бұрын
@@BurnFireBlaze No it’s not rude and I don’t mind Friendly discussion. 1. It’s not just 1 rule book. Between all of the different religions including within Christianity itself it would be more of given thousands of rulebooks but they all can’t be right but they all could be wrong for the best way to play the game of life. Isn’t a better idea to take a step back and evaluate them equally. 2. Technically the Bible doesn’t make a strong claim on that perspective. Apologist will say that but it doesn’t really make a lot of sense when you critically analyze the story. For an example Adam and Eve only has 3 logical outcomes. If the story is true Either God required us to Sin, god isn’t all knowing. Or its just a fictional story. The third one makes far more sense. I can go into that explanation if you desire. 3. Witness accounts are the least reliable source of evidence people make mistakes all the time. Regardless not all parents deserve praise. If you have an abusive parent you shouldn’t be forced to praise them. The way that the Bible claims God love actually would be considered an abusive relationship. “Better not forget how I sacrificed Jesus to forgive your sins, if not I’m going to lock you up in my basement”. If a god actually exist they would know that in order to have an honest relationship with anyone would not have any conditions that cause severe punishment. 4. The Old Testament states that prior to Jesus the people did yearly sacrifices of animals. The festival was called Yom Kippur. It required 2 goats one you set free and one you sacrificed. The church would provide a service to make it easier for everyone by allowing them to buy their goats at the church at the time of the festival instead of traveling with goats. When the Bible says Jesus started tossing tables it’s meant to represent Jesus stopping the need to sacrifice animals. The story even matches perfectly Pilate asked the people to sacrifice Jesus and let one prisoner go. This practice wasn’t actually done in real life with people. It’s meant to copy the goats of Yom Kippur so animal sacrifices wasn’t needed anymore because Jesus blood is stronger then animals. Now an important question you have to ask yourself… how can someone determine if a god actually required animal sacrifices or was it more just people of the time attempting to understand their world and getting it wrong. Which one seems more likely and what does that mean for a story about Jesus completing the same action.

@@melvincarter9640 "Christianity offer hope." Hebrews 11:1 states Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. But Melvin, if you have proof of something, you don't need faith or hope. This Jordan Peterson rhetoric is wholly disingenuous and it actually insults the intelligence of the listener. I don't need hope to know that my wife is cooking salmon tonight. I don't need to need faith to know that I attended the Indiana University school of Law. Both situations have evidence. My wife asked me this morning if salmon was good for tonight and I confirmed yes. She sent me a video a couple of hours ago seasoning the fish. I have school transcripts and graduation pictures. I have at least four of my college professors on speed dial. They were actual witnesses that can verify my identity, skill set, and graduation experience. At the very least I know that I have a wife and have a track record of her making salmon in the past. The christian cult offers no such evidence. Other than unproven traditional rituals that means nothing except to invoke feelings, and emotions. The bible is an incomplete, plagiarized, violent, and unethical, piece of literature designed to control the weak and easily manipulated. There's ABSOLUTELY zero historical evidence of Adam, Eve, Joseph, Nimrod, Isaiah, Daniel, Abraham, Moses, Job, King David, Samson, Deborah, King Saul, Jonah, Lot, John, Mark, Stephen, Simon Peter, Nehemiah, Bartholomew, or Noah. This is why they are considered biblical characters, not historical figures. Napoleon Bonaparte, Cicero, Alexander the Great, and Czar Nicholas II are all historical figures. I have no problem with the idea of a first century apocalyptic cult leader named Jesus existing. (Which wasn't his name.) But the Jesus the christian cult members sells us is a man who raised men from the dead, healed the sick and blind. Fed 5000 people with 2 fish and 5 loaves of bread. Walked on water and turned water into wine. Died and rose from the dead before floating up to heaven. There's ABSOLUTELY zero evidence of any of things happening. I don't expect the world to offer me anything, and why should I? The christian god doesn't offer you anything either. When a man is elevated to CEO of a fortune 500 company, it's largely because of his hard work or nepotism. Either way, it was the efforts of men, not the imaginary god that never shows up. Religious zealots from the 3 Abrahamic cults are so arrogant that they believe there must be a "purpose" for their existence and the universe was created for them. There's no evidence to think that there's an afterlife. Where did you get this programming? If you live in America, the indoctrination is everywhere. But most people get their religion from their parents and grandparents. Sure, there are people who convert but it's rare in comparison. Or those people simply transfer to another branch within their cult. Example: A Pentecostal flipping to a Baptist or non-denominational. But they're both still under the evil christian religion. Pascal's wager is a piss poor way of approaching a different conversation on religion. In fact, faith and hope is a poor pathway to truth.
