Because this is the time when all eyes are on the topic. It's an especially relevant conversation point for faith right now. Also, much of the Church speaks up especially loud and brashly on the topic at this time and I think it's important to correct some of the things said from that side. Lastly, there are a lot of Christians who are attracted to the same sex who are looking for Christian voices who actually care and who desire to provide helpful guidance. They're hearing unhelpful stuff from much of the Church, along with a lot of lies from outside of it. My hope is that this video reaches them and helps provide loving clarity and care for them at this time.

Because Christians are called to reclaim spiritual territory, not cede it to the devil.

I disagree with how you cast the issue in your opening statement. Christ made it abundantly clear that our internal sin is as great as our external sin and that our external behaviors flow directly from the sins in hearts and minds. There is something to the notion that we cannot fully control every thought and desire that comes to mind, but we are called to resist those that are in conflict with Christ's nature. It is also my belief that if you train yourself to resist those impulses and instead fill your life with the things Christ has called you to do, then they will eventually fade naturally, even if you are at risk of them returning with a vengeance if you dip your toe back into them. That said, there _is_ a good reason to change our vocabulary in a way similar to what you describe. The idea of "being gay" accepts a certain premise: that a person's sexual desires are inherent to their identity and probably immutable. But that is simply not the case. A person's identity is not defined by the desires they experience; it is defined by what they do with those desires. So we should not accept the premise that a person "is gay" in any inherent sense to begin with just like no one "is an alcoholic" in any inherent, insurmountable sense. Having some better phrasing that communicates that rejection would be helpful. On the issue of sexuality specifically, I do want to point out that while family is uplifted, we are not all commanded to participate in a sexual relationship. Abstaining is a completely acceptable option if you simply don't find the opposite sex desirable.

What I'm hearing between the lines is that you do think that sex between two consenting adults is wrong, if these two adults are both male. But what makes it so much worse than sex between a male and a female?

Because it is devoid of all purpose other than gratification of physical desire. It is, fundamentally, hedonistic.

@@BladeOfLight16 What about the social component? Getting closer to your partner, forming a bond with him? And do you think that's so much different with hetero- sex, anyway? I highly doubt it. And doing things for physical gratification is all so wrong? How is this supposed to work for other activities? Are you not allowed to do exercise if you do it only or mostly for the fun? When you eat your meal, do you constantly have to remind yourself that you do it to nourish yourself? What if you play a game? There are no reproductive purposes in playing Catan, now are there? So, is Catan off the table now?

You can not separate the law of moses from the society of the time. Why would the new testament be any different?
@TheNerdyChristianPod
@TheNerdyChristianPod 2 ай бұрын
Jesus fulfilled the Law. Romans tells us the Law was given to point to Him and our need for Him. New Testament commands are quite different. They are instruction for life in the New Covenant, under Christ's headship, which endures across time.

@@TheNerdyChristianPod Never the less, as jesus point out until the heaven and earth pass away not the smallest part of the law will dispear. So the law is always there. It just applies differently. Sure it's timeless, but it always was. As we learn and adapt as a species why would god not take that into account?

@@TheNerdyChristianPod Not according to Jesus, Matthew 19: 16 And behold, a man came up to him, saying, “Teacher, what good deed must I do to have eternal life?” 17 And he said to him, “Why do you ask me about what is good? There is only one who is good. If you would enter life, keep the commandments.” 18 He said to him, “Which ones?” And Jesus said, “You shall not murder, You shall not commit adultery, You shall not steal, You shall not bear false witness, 19 Honor your father and mother, and, You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” But hey if you want to ignore what Jesus actually taught that's on you.

@TheRyno525 Do you think he was giving an exhaustive and definitive list. If yes, then homosexuality is not on that list, so then you disagree with Jesus. If you don't think it's exhaustive and definitive, then it's irrelevant too what I said. Why bring it up?
@BladeOfLight16

The gentile societies of the time of the New Testament were fairly accepting of non-heterosexual relationships. That was the whole reason why the epistles addressed the issue explicitly. When the question of how closely the gentiles needed to follow the law was brought before the apostles, sexual behavior was explicitly called out as one of the few sets of commands that the gentiles are bound to (Acts 15: 20). If the New Testament condemns them, then the fact it contradicts the surrounding culture tells us that this issue is fundamental and not culturally dependent.

Well, I've never heard people say that someones sexuality itself is their identity. What I've heard though are people using definitions of psychology when talking about sexuality being part of ones identity. Of course there still are more aspects than sexuality when it comes to ones identity.

Hi, I find your content to be very interesting and I had a question for you. I was going to try instagram but I figured the comments would drown it out and I couldn’t dm it to you. So this is my question. What are your thoughts on Mormonism and how it relates to Christianity? I have a Mormon friend who considers himself a part of Christianity, but I know that there are things they include that aren’t part of our Bible. I’d love to hear your in-depth thoughts on this. If you could do the same with Jehovah Witnesses that would be awesome.

As you said in the beginning that you dont want to get into Leviticus because that’s a bunch of laws that you don’t follow so how do you determine which section of the Bible to follow? Why should I care what Paul says? He’s not Jesus. If Jesus thinks this is important then he should’ve mentioned it but you know, he just talking about loving your neighbor and such.

First of all where does the Bible say to stop following any laws of the old testament? Jesus said Matthew 5: 17 “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. God calls homosexuality an abomination period.

Cry more atheist. This world owes everything to Christian chauvinism. That you speak English, atheist, is a constant subconscious reminder that Jesus is the way. Without Christianity there would not be many of the wonderful things you take delight in. Particularly your Internet access or even the computer to host it! I remember I used to be like you. Because I was lied to so much. It took a long time, but I realized that Christians are right. They are the real Israelites! Christians are persecuted the world over, to an extreme no other group is, for seemingly no particular reason. Brother, you are no fool. Stop ignoring the patterns you are seeing.
