I admit many of us christians be speaking with hate while telling others about sins. But there are christians that spread the gospel with love, letting you know about your sins and what the Bible says. Yet, ppl who don't want to change will take it as hate. I'm sorry if it was your experience with a christian attacking you. And I pray that when things are said for you own interest and with love that you don't react calling it "hate". Some of us really do care and love the ppl we are talking to. And love is shown through actions and our words Be blessed. And sorry for the essay lol

People fear if they dig in scriptures to get more knowledge, they may find truth that messes with their shallow thinking. Quoting one scripture not being able to research why it was written and in that time frame scares people. So sticking to that boxed in mentality will keep them from growing spiritually, religion only stunts your growth, walking in love will cause you to grow.

I agree, building on this; although orthodox traditions are _great tools_, it's only when they are used as such, with present and past context and Gods greater wisdom in mind. But neither should Christians become the other extreme, not gathering together in unity, as some have resorted to in the past; as this is stifling as well. One can learn much in solitude, with only the holy spirit and your own contemplation's. But I've learnt that the greatest growth is from practical fellowship, and being encouraged by others love for our heavenly father.

What I’m trying to figure out is why everybody so concerned about homosexuality, and divorce is condemned in the Bible yet it’s so prevalent today and the Church says nothing about it, and it’s actually a choice rather than homosexuality which is how a person is born. Just something to think about ig
@tharcisse7103

Homosexuality is only a problem for us if it's being taught that it's acceptable within our religion. According to the Bible, we are not to judge those outside of the church, but those within the church who teach falsehoods are to be driven out and expelled. People can do what they want in their own homes, but if you enter our house, you have to follow the house rules. That is very fair. You are free to leave if you disagree with the house rules. Divorce is prevalent today but it's not the place of the church to uphold its rules amongst non-Christians. Those who believe in divorce (unless it's due to adultery) are not Christians. Jesus said "Whoever divorces his wife, except for unchastity, and marries another commits adultery.” If you disagree with Jesus, you have removed yourself from the church.

"You shall not lie with a male as with a woman. It is an abomination." He claims that the common sense meaning of these words is wrong. Why? It's lost due to our culture being 2000 years removed from when this was written. Hence, we have no clue what this prohibition actually means. The only problem with this obfuscation is that it's ahistorical. The early church (and the Jewish tradition before it) WERE living in this cultural context, and KNEW exactly what these words meant. They condemned hs activity accordingly. Churches that do so now are not doing this due to innovation based on lack of present-day understanding but are simply following what the church/Jewish community understood from Day One.

But if you insist on keeping it personal, I do hold a degree in linguistics as well as an graduate degree in history. So if that is required to read a straight-forward text, I fulfill your criteria without having to be gaslit by the superior qualifications of pretend-"experts." Back to the issue: The ancients, both Jewish and later Christian, understood very well the Bible's condemnation of hs activity. This holds for both scholars and those practicing these faiths for several millenia. This is not a matter of me, as you falsely claim, "understanding these words" as I (subjectively) do. I'm familiar with the Hebrew of Lev 18:22. For clarification, it does not contain the terms you referenced. However, I suspect you are thinking of the LATIN translation of Lev 18:22. That would likely contain those terms because LATIN is where Paul TRANSLITERATED 'ArsenoKoitai' from. This is why the word is not found in ANY GREEK LITERATURE other than Paul's writing and those who discuss Paul's writing. I reached this conclusion several years ago when somebody I knew from a seminary noted that scholars didn't know where the term came from. I hypothesized that maybe, because Paul was a LAWYER (law being an interest of mine), he needed an EXACT legal term that did not exist in the Greek. So, I checked the LATIN (the language of Rome that had conquered the world at the time Paul wrote this term), and there the roots were. I have written about this discovery and have a much stronger theological model than you could imagine about this very subject matter. Once you see what I discovered, you'll never look at translations of the Scriptures the same way again. Regarding the many contrary comments I've read below; -Those 'Christians' scoffing at your analysis are actually blaspheming in matters they don't understand & doing the very thing Peter warned that lawless men would do with Paul's writings: Destroy themselves & their listeners. Want to know more? Just smash my icon & proceed from there....

" This is why the word is not found in ANY GREEK LITERATURE other than Paul's writing and those who discuss Paul's writing." This is actually incorrect to an extent. We see forms of "ArsenoKoitai" used to translate passages like levticius 18:22 in the septuagint.
@gimmelyod
@gimmelyod 3 ай бұрын
@@nemo2341000 Actually, I suspect it was added into the Septuagint version of Leviticus by Christians later on to reflect what Paul Wrote using his exact terminology. Like most TRANSLATIONS of the Scripture, the Septuagint was changed over time - occasionally edited over a space of about 500 years. I strongly suspect this is HOW the term got into Lev 18:22.
@nemo2341000
@nemo2341000 3 ай бұрын
@@gimmelyod The reason why this theory is most likely incorrect, is because it actually dates back to 250 BC. Which would put it about 250 years before Christ. The scrolls were actually found alongside the Dead Sea Scrolls. It was most likely made for the Jewish community in Egypt, where Greek was common language at the time. So it seems like it actually predates Paul and he never really coined the term exactly.
@gimmelyod
@gimmelyod 3 ай бұрын
@@nemo2341000 You may be right. I'm sure that Paul was very well read. He may have used the term because he agreed with the source. However, it is a fact that the term does NOT appear anywhere in the Greek except in Paul's writing, and those who analyze Paul's writings. And perhaps in this version of the Septuagint. However, the Daed Sea Scrolls were part of a repository of literary texts that were maintained - probably up to 70AD when Rome made a wreck of Jerusalem. It still cannot be ruled out that the Septuagint copy you speak of was edited AFTER THE FACT to include Paul's use of the term to better translate Leviticus prior to 70AD. It would be an interesting academic venture.

Who is being excluded from Christianity? Only one type of person, he who rejects the sin payment paid in full by Jesus Christ Christianity isn’t about one particular sin aka homosexuality, no it’s about any sin is contrary to God’s holiness As per scripture: “For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.” ‭‭James‬ ‭2‬:‭10‬ ‭KJV‬‬ Even if you manage to keep from 99.9 sins and sin even once you will be separated from God because he is Holy aka that is to say without sin He cannot allow even one sin into heaven, just look at what one sin has done to earth, how much pain and suffering and destruction has surfaced from one single sin, this is why to accept Christ is to accept God and to reject Christ is to reject God Either Christ paid your sin debt you’ve incurred thus your soul is sin free by his sacrifice or you will pay this sin debt by your separation from he who is Holy aka God You decide!!!!

One who is broken and contrite before God is a person God will not turn away but one who justifies there sin before God will suffer the penalty of all sinners without saving grace. The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned. The desire of attraction is within all souls, however, the soul (a point of light) is genderless, either male or female. The soul simply plays it part according to the body's gender. The first mistake humans made was to identify themselves as male and female, a body, rather than the soul occupying the body. Sometimes a soul will have stronger feelings for a certain body type/gender or just with the soul alone, the personality, which is perfectly normal. Souls have been taking birth to male and female bodies since time immemorial. And in some births we are drawn to a certain body preference due to past life experiences.

Are you saying that the Bible has been misinterpreted with the false belief that same gender attraction and behavior is acceptable before God and that, as he is preaching, that our "natural selves" are acceptable and that there's no need to change or repent from anything, as long as we're being our "true self?" The doctrine of repentance is not just central to the Gospel of Christ. It IS the Gospel of Christ. If you believe that it is a misinterpretation of the Bible, then you may as well throw away the whole thing and go find another belief system. Maybe there's an opening in paganism? Or, maybe the druids are hiring?

God said it's not good for the human being to be alone so God divided him into a man and a woman. The man's recognition of the woman as one like him and thus as suitable is the explicitly stated reason for marriage. Think it through. If a man is only capable of recognizing a man, for precisely the same reason, he should marry a man. "Fornication" referred primarily to men using female prostitoots. Same-secs behaviour was not in scope, although I would hazard to say that the same ethic applies.

@@SebDan14 I've heard that argument a number of times, over the years. It's true they don't hate the individual (Christianity doesn't hate anyone because of their weaknesses), but the rest is a false argument and I'll explain. If someone you cared about was driving home on a road that ended in a dead-end and a cliff, would you try and convince them to stop and turn around and get on a road that actually leads home, or when they said, "don't stop me. This is a nice easy road and I'm comfortable and I finally got my driver's license and this new car. Are you trying to prevent me from enjoying my drive? You're not stopping others from driving. Why are you picking on me? You must hate me!" If Christians truly hated those with same gender attraction, we'd keep our mouth shut and just let them drive off a cliff. But we can't. Being a true disciple of Christ means we must love and care for everyone and many of those experiencing same gender attraction are our family members of loved ones. We care enough about them to want to do all we can to convince them not to drive off a cliff.

The Bible is literature in which one can learn of unconditional love, tolerance, forgiveness, and living your best life. It was written by man in the context of its time. I do not think it should be cherry-picked for verses for the purpose of weaponizing the language to exclude this or that group. The call to followers was based on the ability to welcome all and lead others to the path of forgiveness, love, community, acceptance, selflessness, and honesty. We would be dishonest to focus only on homosexuality or a few other sins when there is inherently nothing sinful about it . Quite honestly, it’s sad to see Christians focusing on certain things when far greater injustices exist. You will do a disservice to your creator for turning others away from this path.

If he really is, he does not mind for a second excluding hundreds of other religions. Only as he pleads for an exception of hs from other sins does he reject "exclusion?" This is also a strawman argument: Christianity welcomes sinners of all kinds, including homosexuals. However, it does not practice denial of what is sinful conduct.

Do an academic literature search and you'll see there's a dozen different opinions. No one knows for sure what it meant. Given that everything he said is correct, I wouldn't accuse him of being a false teacher, I'd question the motives behind your accusation.

@@MusicalRaichu the instruction is clear in Gen 1:26-27, to mutiply, hence male&female. So if one verse stump you, the other will make clearance. Jesus confirm in Matthew 19:4-6. One man, one woman. Adding it with Leviticus and what Paul said in NT and it all fit together. Anything that turn its way on its own and do not follow the real intention from the Creator is wrong. Even at Revelation, symbol for the marriage of the lamb is between groom and bride. The bible is consistent throughout.

Superb Brandan. Over time, I believe more and more people are going to realise that what you have spoken about is correct. I feel in many ways, Jesus is a total inconvenience for Christians who flat refuse to accept his love and inclusion for all. They've formed him through the lens of their own bigotry. Such an arrangement only leads to that Christian's own suffering; whether they are aware of it or not. People want to be free, and the freedom in Christs is knowing you can love and accept everyone.

I am sorry to say this. But Jesus Christ is not all about and only about love.... Why did Jesus come? Bc we are lost in our sin away from God. We have to first commit and turn away from our sin including our wrong living. Jesus loved the world so much that he died for us to save us from our sin. Let God le

Such delusion. Homosexuality is a sin, it is a matter of facts. (Even if god loves us sinners) Christ is love, but he is also truthfull to the laws of gods! he didn't deny ancient laws, but fullfill it.

Yeah and Jesus is an inconvenience to those like Branden who flat refuse to accept Christ's holy judgement of sin AND His call to repentance.
