I am comforted by my long-time-ago college church in Waco, Texas, which I attend virtually. They are still preaching and living the gospel of love. Thank you for your courage.

In 2016 I was disappointed in so many Christians I had respected for years because they could not see Trump for who he really is, both Christians in my local church and leadership of the American evangelical church. Trump gigantic support among Christians, close to 90%, has always been because the other option represents a fight for more abortion vs. fewer abortion (murders). I can still hear your pain and feel it. I only know 50% and even in my state I saw it 1st. Then all the rest oh my. I havent been to a convention ever thank God.. I read this past years.. I know there are many Christians that are Southern Baptist. So hard to decide to leave knowing the scandle it would cause but there are too many lost people and God called you both and many of us to tell the truth of Jesus.. We have to obey Him. I’ve been to too many churches. I saw that Christians were hurt and let down by ministry of another gospel within the church. It took years for me to understand what was happening. The disappointment in so many who had taught me, in those i had taught, in pastors i respected so much and believed they really believed what they had been saying and teaching...and then they so easily followed a leader and a movement that was diametrically opposed to the gospel.... man, what disillusionment...what confusion...what disappointment it caused....but, BUT my faith in Christ has never been stronger....unfortunately, my faith in people...christian people, is on the floor...because i no longer see evidence of love, joy, hope, patience, goodness, faithfulness or any of what i had been taught were the gift of the Holy Spirit...in christian nationalism. I want no part of that. That "church" left me...but the good news is that God never has. I feel confident that eventually eyes will be opened...hopefully sooner than later...and this too shall pass. I have had grief and concern for a year and a half over the issues of seeing a mocker's spirit and even openly misogynistic attitudes from so many very important Christian leaders towards Beth. I have also been deeply concerned for baby believers I know who are confused and badly alienated over the hypocrisy and dismissiveness of serious sexual abuse issues from conservative Churchianity in 2020 interactions. The SBC Executive Committee is in the process of pursuing a more in-depth sexual abuse investigation. And it looks like Russell Moore was instrumental in bringing this much needed situation to light. As has Beth Moore as well. As a Christian counselor I have grown to better understand that it’s important for adult survivors of abuse to have the choice of when and how or whether to tell their stories. And it’s important for well meaning leaders not just to swoop in and take over these situations….. which could come across as parental. Think of all the people who have called out Ravi Z for his now confirmed sexual abuse and exploitation of women working in spas he co-owned … and yet even after all the details of a thorough investigation, some people continue to defend Ravi and deny his wrongdoing. Especially with Christian abuse survivor and attorney Rachel Denhollander working on this committee, I’m hopeful this investigation will get more thorough attention.

Now is your chance to expose your abuser by name! Tell us which church they attended and their name. The SBC has no control over the independent Baptist Churches that make up the SBC. Have you reported the abuse to the church you attended where the abuse actually occurred? There may be others who were abused by the same person. Dawn, The Executive Committee is nothing more than a funding body. They funnel money through the Cooperative Program to various mission efforts of the SBC. That’s basically it. These are actual crimes that are being alleged. A criminal investigation needs to happen here. So what do you have after nearly $2 MILLION being spent on this? Zip. Not their fault. They are not investigators but they have been tasked with a job they don’t have the skills or legal authority to undertake. If Russell Moore cared at all he would have immediately reported these alleged crimes to law enforcement. What did he do - for nearly a YEAR? NOTHING. If any of these alleged crimes actually happened Russell Moore should join these sex offenders in jail.

Question? For years whenever I heard the story of Jim Elliot and the other 4 missionaries killed by the Waodani people that they were so ashamed of killing these men who only wanted to do good for them that they accepted Christ. Only recently have I heard about Rachel Saint who was the sister of Nate Saint that died beside Jim Elliot. Rachel went to live with the Waodani to share the gospel and translate the Bible into their language. Perhaps even develop their written language herself. This tribe which once was considered to be one of most violent peoples of the earth are now peaceful and 40% Christian. Are you saying she was wrong to teach the gospel? And to men? God was in this, another woman Dayuma escaped the tribe 3 years before because she felt her life was in danger as others in her family had been murdered within the tribe. Rachel was introduced to Dayuma and had been studying their language for 3 years before her brother and the others were killed.

Hello Mr. Moore, I just found this first taping of your show by the grace of God. I found a video production which you spoke on, and liked what you had to say. I will find it and put it in the reply. I have been praying for Godly leaders who are in touch with the truth for a long time. As you know, so many brothers and sisters in the faith have turned away to what I would consider fables, as prophesied in the Bible. I had heard a tweet from Beth Moore that was incredible on track which said something like "this is a seductive spirit, please turn away from it. But I could not find anything else from her pertaining to politics. I just found that you are connected with Christianity Today. As I have also been praying for leadership for myself as a writer, I will begin to follow this publication. I should also mention, I have had the experience of being a lady in the Baptist church, and similar churches for over 30 years. It is very difficult to be one who has not been directed by God to be a mother and/or wife, and feel ostracized, demoralized, etc. for this reason. I understand and appreciate all that Beth has said above. Thank you for this. I hope I can follow you on youtube as I have not become accustomed to using podcasts yet. God bless you!

The main issue that really hurt me personally was what she said in that huge article rant about trump is that she said Christians are worshiping Trump instead of Christ. That was offensive. Disappointed in both of these leaders, so many who voted for DT did so out better of two evils. Many supported issues that DT claimed or possibly supported also. Christianity Today is supported in greater numbers than now embrace sexuality and theology that supports liberation progressive and politics that are not neutral to killing the unborn and criminalizing basic Christian orthodoxy in colleges and ministries that reach out to the poor. .Sorry Beth you and Russell have also taken hold of the reigns that condemn all faith-based views of complementarians and put them in one oppressive group. Kimberly, I agree! 💯 I didn’t hear Beth mention how upset she was with Biden who also has been accused of sexually abusing a woman, so apparently that didn’t bother her? Her silence on that speaks loudly, as does her hypocrisy. My respect for her dropped considerably when I heard she voted for Crooked H. Wouldn’t it have been wonderful if we had had a Christ-believing, morally sound person to vote for on the presidential ticket, in the past 2 elections? But we didn’t. I realize that Trump is extremely crass, and his personality is off-putting to some, incl myself, but we weren’t voting for a Sunday school teacher. We voted for someone to lead our country. And what Trump did for America in regards to bringing back jobs, the unemployment, securing the southern border, trade, standing up to our foreign adversaries, being energy independent, etc was really quite impressive, and can’t be honestly disputed. And comparing it to where we’re at now…..it’s just a shame. 😞
