I liked this video. I think you've laid out pretty fairly each side of the discussion here. Certainly the most common arguments I here on each side. I'm interested in what your answer is going to be. I hope you're not simply going to say that people like William Wilberforce changed their minds, so we should too? I look forward to your answer.

@@LivingWatersEurope I notice that every time you quote Leviticus 25:46 you stop right before the phrase "but you shall not rule over your fellow Israelite RUTHLESSLY." Which implies that owning people as property, as spelled out in Leviticus 25 is in fact Ruthless, otherwise why add this phrase, which you so conveniently leave out?

The Bible supports slavery. One or two Christians figured out it was wrong and interpreted slavery away. Happens a lot because _humans_ are capable of independent moral reasoning

Wilberforce wrote in a diary once a week, sometimes once every day, about how sinful he is, and basically confesses in it in pretty good detail, so that he could go back and read, to compare his progress to later in his life. He hated his sin (which appears to be mostly gluttony), as well as the slavery that his country was going thru. He requested that his diaries be thrown away once he died, since they were so personal. But someone kept them, and is now available to read, now that they're all packaged together in 1 book. He died before it was finally abolished. So if you really want to get the true story of someone that deals daily with his sin and writes about it in detail, check out the book.

By what basis do you differentiate slave from bondservant? Don't they both use the word ebed? I accept that there were a many humanitarian protections preventing Hebrew servants from being oppressed "with rigor." I have not yet explored that argument before.

Exodus 21:16 Tells us there is more to the idea of biblical slavery then many want to think about. They just assume the bible supports slavery without any research into it.

The Bible is largely immoral. This is what the Lord Almighty says: "I will punish the Amalekites for what they did to Israel when they waylaid them as they came up from Egypt. Now go, attack the Amalekites and totally destroy all that belongs to them. Do not spare them; put to death men *and women, children and infants* , cattle and sheep, camels and donkeys." -1 Sam. 15

Tell me in what “context” is the god of the Bible “regulating” slavery when you are holding his family hostage. 😠👉 -{Exodus 21:2-6 ESV}- When you buy a Hebrew slave, he shall serve six years, and in the seventh he shall go out free, for nothing. If he comes in single, he shall go out single; if he comes in married, then his wife shall go out with him. If his master gives him a wife and she bears him sons or daughters, 🙄👉[[the wife and her children shall be her master's]], and he shall go out alone. But if the slave plainly says, ‘I love my master, my wife, and my children; I will not go out free,’ then his master shall bring him to God, and he shall bring him to the door or the doorpost. And his master shall bore his ear through with an awl, and he shall be his slave forever. 🤕😇
