I've been a longtime follower on instagram, but I'm new to the longer format content (and KZbin in general). You are my first content creator I've watched, and if this is what it's like, WHAT have I been MISSING!? The last three videos, aside from being beautiful and serene, have literally evoked a gutteral SCREAM from me, because it feels like y🎉ou are actually reading out my thoughts straight from my brain! I'm talking, a whole Killing Me Softly moment: straight up strumming my pain, flushed with fever, embarrassed by the crowd. Letters found. Read out loud. 😂 But SERIOUSLY, thank you for sharing. I already slid into your Insta DMs to express the same gist of this comment. But it's worth two long-winded thank yous. So. THANK YOU.

@@LCLand Well said. Utterly enchanting is a perfect description and couldn't imagine experiencing Christian's videos from the beginning. It's different, but you're reminding me of one of the coolest things I've ever heard. Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour was interviewed about the making of Dark Side of the Moon and all the details of the production. He said he often thought of the person who bought the album, put headphones on and... heard it for the first time. "I never had that experience." He was jealous of one of his fans.

Sixteen years ago, I met my wife while living in Virginia. I am originally from Wisconsin, she's from Washington State. We are both prior military so we've traveled and lived in more places than we can even begin to remember. One day she asked me, of all the places I've lived, where would I prefer to spend the rest of my life. My answer was simple. I didn't care. I had never lived in one place that I absolutely wanted to stay. I had never lived in a place that I considered home. They were always just places I've been and really didn't care if I was ever there again or not. Seven years ago, we flew out to the Oregon coast to visit her parents. We flew into Portland late in the evening and drove with her parents to their house. I was exhausted and could barely keep my eyes open for the ride so it wasn't until that next morning that I actually saw where I was, and, it hit me. Hard! I stood there in my in-laws kitchen and looked out at the mountains with the inversion layer cutting everything in half. The peace, the tranquility and the view. It hit me. My wife brought me a cup of coffee and asked me why I was crying. I told her I was home. Three years ago we bought our home on the Oregon coast with a view of the mountains and the salty breeze in the air, and I'll be here until the day I die. I hope you find your space here. There's healing in these mountains and inspiration in the waves. It's home for those of us that have never found another.

I lived in a small cabin in Suquamish. It was on an older woman's property and she lived in the big house. In many ways I loved it, but that damp cold in Western Washington I could never get warm. But now I see after watching this video, if I could live with hot tub sauna, better insulation and not have to commute to work those woods would be pretty dreamy in the winter after all. This is so huge for you Christian because this is the first time I have ever really seen you make a decisive decision that this is where you'd want to have a homebase. And it was the first video of yours I watched on van life that helped me decide that I really want a homebase. It was the one where you got to stay in the airbnb cabin in Montana and you said your work ethic was solid. I totally related to that and it helped me relax about why I don't get much work done on the road. Here's to us getting our home base dream 🥂

You have been transparent to viewers about what makes you “tick” as a person. And you have been open in the past while about how you are more and more interested in having a home base. You mentioned how you never thought you would be making this step on your own. But I think deep down that you wouldn't have it any other way. By making this decision as an individual, you stay true to yourself. And if you choose to share that with someone, you can protect your individuality. Who knows.....making this decision to find a plot to make roots may bring you so much more than just a home that's not on wheels. And you will always have the van to “escape” and get away when you need to have a reset. I hope that you just enjoy the moment without overthinking and sabotaging your plans for the future. Allow yourself to have the win. We all deserve that joy - including you.

And a 4x4 to rip around 🤓
@stamy11 ай бұрын
@@ChristianSchaffer That would be the icing on the cake. In Europe, since the electrification of cars, 4x4s are no longer very popular. An all-electric 4x4 is in every way unthinkable because of its weight. The alternative would be a car with a small gasoline engine, and one or two electric motors for the other 2 wheels. It would therefore be a hybrid 4x4. Probably the 4x4 function could only be activated as long as the small battery is not empty. In other words, it's very difficult to find a new 4x4 that is still affordable and not too heavy. That said, in the US it's probably different. PS: My dream car is the Suzuki Jimny (Kinetic Yellow), but it is no more sold since almost a year. So sad :(

Christian, your incredible way of capturing scenery and framing it is a very nice mood, continues to be a wonderful experience. I love that you feel comfortable sharing your journey through life with us. Of course, there are a number of aspects of your coming life that will help make it feel increasingly fulfilling for you, including perhaps a place and maybe a relationship. You will add an incredible quality to both. Due to my own exploration, I feel that there is also an inner journey, that I sense would help to make the feeling you are searching for, more accessible. The feeling of home is not only expressed in a physical place, though that is nice, but also in a deeper understanding of yourself, a deeper knowing of yourself. Because in the end, you, are home. So, all of the aspects you desire can be brought together. The inner journey and exploration, I will suggest, will add to that endeavor. I'm not saying you need to add it to have a more satisfying life show up, I'm saying that it will give it a quality that is sort of like a spice you have not used yet. And when you add it to your favorite dish, it brings out a quality of taste that without it, you would not have experienced. Regardless of how you continue your journey and exploration of life, I hope it brings you increasing amounts of what you would love to experience with it.

It's pretty hard to escape the draw of the upper northwest rain forrest. There is something extra special about it. When I was younger, everytime I would have a mountain bike race in the coastal rainforest, I would purposely leave a little black mud on my bike for as long as it would last just so I always had it with me no matter where I was riding or racing. During practice, I would often just sit under the canopy for hours, watching riders winding through and listening to the sounds. I have been to many special places in north America, but the large 10 foot cedars and d fir hold a special spot in my soul. Great post as always!

Yeeees, sounds like you're capturing the vibe/spirit of the Pacific Northwest. It truly is amazing, and I miss it so much, having moved away to Europe. All the best in your quest for a homebase!

You have a great subject area to capture… the North West Coast… beautiful. Your narration voice is great too. Thank You for making such relaxing content.

Hello! I love your creations! You have a great eye and a great aesthetic! I am a fellow content creator/photographer/cinematographer. I travel almost constantly for work and play. I don't have a home, just an old 95' F-150.☺ I do a lot of house/pet sitting and live vicariously through other peoples spaces. I find house sitting amazing homes I could never afford in beautiful places to be such an amazing blessing. But the thought of owning a house though alluring also terrifies me! I am too much of a gypsy and after a week or two in a house I start to go stir crazy. It is nice to have a home base to come back to. I suppose it might be different if i wasn't a single vagabond! LOL. Kepp up the great work! I love having your videos on in the background as I work. Your voice is very calming and soothing.

Christian, Your KZbin videos are so good. Other people’s videos are often just somebody talking into the camera. Yours are a great mix of beautiful cinematogaphy, story telling, you doing things, and some talking into the camera. This with excellent video editing and background music. You are among the elite of KZbin producers. Keep it up please!

I’ll always admire creators who can easily talk into the camera; I struggle to edit those kinds of videos because I get incredibly bored just watching myself talk lol. Thank you for the kind words 🙏🏻

Beautiful. I love so much about your films. Today, it occurred to me, especially what a difference it makes to have a thoughtful and intentional audio commentary, I especially appreciate the negative spaces that allows the stunning visuals to speak.

Christian, I've been watching your videos from the beginning and you are one of the most inspiring artists I've ever seen. The last year and a half you've been looking for something to ground you. That's called the next step in growing you, so I will say this to you, take the leap of faith you got this it doesn't come without the power of belief in yourself. There is nothing gained without trying, I think your Grandad would say the same. Give a man a fish he eats for a day, teach him how to fish and he eats for life. You can do this you know you can. Peace and love dreams to reality.

I'm glad you finally found something to be passionate about again! You've been on the road for so long and probably need a holiday from it and plant some roots and this video just solidifies that passion. I can see this as your dream come true. You deserve that happiness and peace. Looking forward to what the future has in store for you! Keep up the good work! Big fan of yours!

I moved to WA state 10 years ago and absolutely love it. Love summer but there’s something special about the winters too.
