This is a must see episode that features the correct way to apply assembly line markings and a surprise visit from Christine. This car was built from parts left over from the movie cars. Watch as the Mayor of Springfield, our very own Christine, match wits.

I do own a 1958 Plymouth Belvedere 4 door that I had restored to look like Christine but it’s not the same. I need the golden commando in a 2 door. It’s just so rare to find and if you do happen to stumble across one, they are so expensive. I would do anything to own this car featured in this video. Literally anything.

@@shodancat1000 Yes that is correct. Easily $100-$150k for a true Fury with the Golden Commando. One went up for sale at Meecum auction last year and got a bid of $275k. It supposedly was used in a few shots of the movie so the owner wouldn’t sell. He wanted $500k.

I’m pretty sure carpenter said it was one of his worst, no clue what made him think that. It could be the waste of cars, but the thing is. If it wasn’t for Christine, a lot of the Plymouth’s today would just be seen as junk.

You are the "man"! Just beautiful Mopar perfection comes out of your shop! Christine is a 58 Belvedere, 56,57 and 58 Fury was a separate model Plymouth. I had a 57 Fury in 1966 when I was 18. Special cloth interior and vinyl trim, 150mph speedometer all chrome trim inside A pillars and C pillars. Can go on but you can look up the history of the car. Chrysler had the 300, DeSoto had the Adventure and Plymouth had the Fury. 1956, 57, 58. Special colors for these cars, they were the first Factory Muscle Cars from any manufacturer, as the each had the biggest engine offered for each car line and they all had 2x4 bbl carburetors standard equipment! Mopars rocked way back in the 50's!!!

My best friend back in the late 1960s bought his son a 1958 with the golden command engine and a 3 speed on the wheel. A pair of quads with cross ram intake. It was a bit slow off the line but on interstate 80 from 75 mph to 110plus it would put you in the back seat and leave or stick with anyone running any of the super cars of that time.

America in the 50's were producing not just cars. They made rolling moving pieces of sculpted art. And Christine is the perfect embodiment of that era. The fins, the Hp, the red paint, the music. And the steel frames an panels. You had to seriously make an effort to wreck these old cars. Which is one reason why Christine is such a formidable character, she can take a physical beating, regenerate, and dish it back.

We need a Christine reboot… the producer for graveyard could pull it off… some of the original cast and the graveyard crew could all make cameos, mark and the network could split the cost on production and with Steven king’s sign off could make millions… but the script and plot would have to be above and beyond to make every Christine fan proud. Then I get free red carpet treatment and a tour of gyc for the idea. And I write scripts.. if you smell what I’m cooking… plus I’ve watched Christine well over 1000 times, it is my favorite movie ever and I have tons of ideas..lmk.

If I had to pick my top 3 cars all time it would be the Bullit Mustang, Mad Max Police interceptor (road warrior version), and Christine. Once upon a time I had that name tattooed on my arm (I was 14, cut me some slack) but had it covered in the army in 96. Just a coincidence but huge Stephen King fan, a bit of a cinema snob and the proud owner of a 69 Mustang Fastback. But the car from Christine I would’ve loved to drive if not own.

'I don't know what the big white X with the circle around it means...I just put it on there'... I had an uncle who worked at Hamtrammock in the late 60's, early 70's...and did 'basically assembly inspections'...MOST (even show-judges) don't have a clue about a LOT of those marks nowadays...but before he passed away, I asked him 'what does this mean...' on several axle markings, which opened a WHOLE CAN of worms (in the days before 'decoding' books)...such as on that axle, MUCH of that 'yellow wax crayon' writing was actually coming from the AXLE SUPPLIER, not the assembly plant...(such as the axle tubes...dated to when they were made or assembled into a rear axle assembly)...which means, axle markings should be known, understood and GENERALLY, matched (you don't want 1970 markings on the driver side tube, and 1968 markings on the passenger side tube...which would imply an 'after OEM repair' or 'stock use-up' event, normally. Generally...those date-codes are mere days or weeks seperated, at most. The large 'circled white 'X' on the 3rd member housing was 'understood' to be taken from the build tag (on the driver's fender under the hood) for 'destination'...one of 3-codes were written there...AND THEY SHOULD MATCH THE TAG...an 'A' would be a car destined for the AMERICAN market. A 'C' written there (and I have seen a 'C'...which was NOT circled) indicated 'made for the Canadian market'...all others were marked 'X' (with circle) to indicate EXPORT MARKET...I have never seen another character other than one of these three, where they were still present. So, what Mark is doing here, is MARKING ALL HIS CARS 'EXPORT MARKET', and most-likely, COUNTER to the build tag on the fender, which most-likely shows them as 'A' coded (refer to your 'market' or 'destination' letter code location on your 'how do you read your build tag (dogtag)' under the hood on the driver's fender...

A lot of people think of the 60's to 70"s when it comes to muscle cars, but the game was on far before that in the race to one horse power per cubic inch. And while they all might have failed in the 50's the output was close and more than many muscle cars deemed as such decades later.
