@@ambreaull7218 I did not grow up in the polygamy world or faith. But main stream Mormon and I have left. While I understand it can be very different, the deconstruction is very real still for me. I am still married to my husband who is still a believer of the Mormon church, so it’s hard because I am deconstructing alone in some ways. But I still have a husband. I am one of the fewer who is in a mixed faith marriage. However I can still see him wanting to play the priesthood leader card to me occasionally. And I just politely walk away for a little. We both have boundaries. And we are trying to make a balance. But it sounds like Kristyn is amazing and helpful and I can understand how important that is. I have a friend who is my sounding board and I am so grateful for that. Also there is a community that is gone when you leave a faith like this. And Kristyn would be amazing to have as friend on the outside. I think that has to be a very hard part, but it’s great to have people help as you start over in many ways. ❤

The recent events on this "reality" show, showed Kody Brown's true, oppressive nature: all the show did was reveal that this 'average polygamist family' was just as abusive towards three of the wives as polygamists have been historically been known for. If this show was to help the public change their attitude about Polygamy, it has only reinforced the negative stigma associated with this lifestyle.

Meri never says anything about anything anyway! Kody doesn't want Meri as a wife and has told her as much, yet she refuses to leave. She the seems to think that by staying, it will pave her way into Heaven, which it won't! Meri also seems to think that if she sticks around long enough and befriends Robyn, that. Kody will suddenly want her back, which also won't ever happen! Meri has no other life, doesn't know any better because she was raised in a polygamist lifestyle and thinks all of this is normal. If Meri wants to continue supporting Kody and Robyn and their lives, then that's her choice, as sad as it is. I'm so glad Christine got out and is now happier than she ever was! I believe it would extremely difficult to make these polygamous marriages work… blending all the adults together( it’s hard enough in a regular(1 man/1woman) marriage… much less all the children from different parents, different homes, financially meeting the needs of all the family members…. Plus the cult rules & regulations are extremely difficult-especially on the women.. it is very chauvinistic! What does this have to do with religion!?!?!? It’s rules made up by mortal self indulgent greedy men, period! That’s why it fails & will never work! It’s based on lies & is so unbalanced & eventually, will not hold up, it will collapse! I’m glad these good people can get out & drop these crazy ideas & start a good healthy real life for themselves…. You are explaining so much & it makes total sense & much appreciated. It is why they are shunned & blamed( so the “ controlled crazy sheltered” cult believers won’t speak to them or know or find out what the real truth is! It’s so EVIL & wrong! )

Thank you, thank you, thank you. This interview was so insightful and fascinating. It made me as a viewer of the show really take a step back and checked me! I obviously know it is a "show" but I found myself so sucked in and believing EVERYTHING as it's shown. I am still 100% fed up with Robyn. You can only edit so much. The facade is crumbling for sure. Thanks for the wonderful interview with Kristen. Such a kind person. ❤

When I watched the episode I still thought Kristyn and the people in her group were far more well-spoken and kind than the Browns (specifically Robyn who was so rude). So even with the edit the truth came through!

This is a fascinating insight into Kody's reasoning for marrying Christine. It never made sense until we saw the religious aspect which is often missing in the show. I wish they would give more information into this cult.

I didn't get to see the panel episode so I went back and it definitely wasn't fair. I have mad respect for Colleen and Kristyn. I will say after watching it everytime Colleen and Kristyn tried to talk Robyn was interrupting. Nobody interrupted Robyn but Robyn was adamant at not letting the others talk. Thank you for giving Kristyn a voice here you are awesome Katie.

i can understand how polygamy works as long as children are young but once they are grown (Like Christine and Janelle's are) the system falls apart. There is no focus for the Husband and Wives. Thankfully they always told the kids they could make their own minds on religion/polygamy. By the time Robyn entered and she tried to groom Christine and Janelle's girls it was too late to cultivate/groom them.

Kooter must realize trying to keep his wives in line is like herding cats. It appears that polygamy’s time is over. It is sad that there are still organizations that try to keep women and children subservient while men prosper. Not fit for television.

Being raised a Jehovah's Witness, I completely understand not choosing it. Not plural marriage but the religious aspect. I was baptized as a JW when I was 14, not really because that I what I believe but because that was expected of me. Being raised in a cult, there isn't a real choice.

Amazing interview! I really like Kristyn and have watched her KZbin interviews. Terrific woman. Kody liked the fact that his wives were "independent" as long as they contributed financially to the family fund-except Robyn. I've always questioned Robyn's first marriage; it's never been clear if her ex was pro plural marriage or if that was central to their divorcing. We know that Robyn wanted to be a "star." Also, there has to be more to the story of the ex relinquishing custody of his three children to Kody. That's a huge paradigm shift and they weren't babies. They were adolescents. Was he paid off? Finally, what is the end game for Kody and Robyn? What is their show going to be about without the sisterwives? Is their theme song going to be, "Just The Two of Us"? They are incredibly unlikeable and do not want real jobs.

Robyn's older girls were still little girls at the time, but I get your point. The biological father shouldn't have relinquished custody of his children. Here's a thought that I'm going to throw out there. Maybe they paid him off to give up custody. Knowing what we know about Kody and Robyn I wouldn't put it past them. The girls are 19 and 17 now.
