Hey @TitusTechTalk. So I installed Ubuntu, erased windows, then with a bootable USB with windows 11, deleted Ubuntu. So when I turned on the computer, it was in bios. On a different laptop, created a windows 11 installation media, then installed the regular version(US), bypassed logging in(add account later), there is some bloat, but very, very minimal. Actually, looks pretty much like your setup, without everything installed.

Installed with English (world) and changed the region immediately on first logon just to see all the bloatware shortcuts (Messenger, WhatsApp etc.) back in the Start Menu. What worked was to actually wait a while to change the region. Installing all the Windows Updates and rebooting before changing the region worked. I assume the apps on Start Menu get populated soon after first boot, so changing the region to English (US) before that process runs just defeats the purpose.

The 'trick' with this installation type is not that it doesn't install a bunch of bloatware (TikTok, Spotify, etc.) on your Windows machine, but it doesn't put any shortcuts to them on your Start menu. Those apps aren't really installed (even though oddly they give you the 'Uninstall' option when your right-click on them on the Start menu). This is a great and easy trick though.

I'm wondering about doing this on an OEM preinstalled Win 11 OS. The first question is US or UK English. The 2nd is Country or Region. I'm thinking pick any country that isn't US...? Unfortunatly there is not a "World" option in the preinstalled list.

You know i find it amazing that there are better than 62 other operating systems out there an yet every tech rags on windows but it's probably more likely than not if not for windows they probably wouldn't know what they know oand they probably wouldn't have a job! MS laid off most of its QA testers a few years back. I think it was 2017-2018 when the big wave happened, and since then the results are visible. But MS has such a strong position in the market that even if their Windows are crap you will use them

I tried this in HyperV with windows 10, but as soon as I selected my timezone and rebooted, it put all of the bloat back in. So maybe this only works with Win11?

A random idea for the tool: add an option to install a 32-bit browser for the really RAM-constrained machines, such as the Beelink T4 Pro which has soldered 4 GB of RAM, a 32-bit browser makes a real difference there. Brave and Firefox still offer 32-bit options, and it looks like Chrome has an enterprise edition that comes with a 32-bit version as well. Using a 32-bit browser may reduce memory usage by up to 50% for the browser processes (more likely by 25%, but it's still something), because the pointers are half the size.

I used Debian 12 but everytime I install multiple flatpak application on KDE discover, it asks me for a password for each application which is annoying and it never happened in arch or mint

Did he really said "Spyware" in Windows 11?! Dude, you use Brave, wich too as ties to Google, and DOES send them "data". I use Linux from time to time too, but definately isn't because it's more private or secure for that matter. One of the reasons i left Linux again, was because the AUR as some software that comes with crypto in them and the fact that Linux is much more "messy when it comes to handeling software installations. Not to mention the "gaming" on Linux wich still isn't good at all. I still love Linux and hope one day it becomes more mainstreamed, but has it stands, it's way too divided. Linux users love that because of options but that's not good when it comes to realease software or games to the platform wich becomes a Support managers nightmare.

Aside from all the people who don't use Windows, sadly some are limited to using it for reasons they have no control about. This guy is being nice and wanting people to have a nice OS that works for them. I use Linux as a daily driver and only use Windows when I need to write Word Documents for work. It is what it is. I jumped over to Mac when I couldn’t move the taskbar. If Microsoft ever release office for Linux and affinity release their suite as well I’d be jumping to Linux full time. I’ve only ever been a dabbler, mostly with KDE neon.

The "English (World)" method is kinda overhyped imo. As far as I understand it, this option only removes the shortcuts to the apps (it takes around 5 minutes to remove) and cripples windows store and most will still enable it again While it saves few minutes trying to clean the windows experience it is kindof useless imo

unattended xml are just scripts to run on startup. I just pushed an update to the Windows Toolbox called Microwin that uses a more stock version of the unattended xml. Both are good and can be used. Microwin's is on the dev branch and doesn't go live until tomorrow.

Besides obvious differences in marketing and money involved, linux will never be at the same level as windows if it cannot be evaluated with the same kind of scrutiny and rigor as its main competitor. When I recently complained about a problem that is currently occurring with debian packages updates (many packages are held back and not updated), the reaction in the forum where I complained couldn't be worse, they even claimed that it is open source, non-paid and contributed by volunteers, meaning that we should accept and forgive anything that may happen. This is the wrong way of doing things, if this the way they think, please do not volunteer. I want the same kind of quality and reliability as of closed source, paid products, or else don't volunteer, don't contribute.

It doesn't matter whether it is free of charge or a paid product, usually in linux paid products means that technical support is guaranteed by the company staff, whether free of charge linux distros will leave users with a forum support, accomplished by other users. It should also be noted that there are very stable distros like Debian, where software bugs and crashes happen very rarely, and other distros bet on the most recent software developments, like Arch linux, thus being more prone to bugs and crashes. My original post was a consequence of a problem with Ubuntu, developed and maintained by Canonical Software.

Don't use the high performance power plan, it makes it so your processor can't downclock which is why you are draining battery so fast.

The only things I use from the store are games which require the store. The bar I hate but not sure if it is required. Really hate the bar the xbox button makes it pop up. Killer Instinct, Forza 3 & Minecraft are the only ones & I cant even remember for sure if the minecraft launcher requires the store or not since we're able to run java MC now with a windows version.

i tried russian version , and i noticed that when install finished , right click on taskbar give you task manager directly no need to updates like us version . i was think whole my life that us version is the best , but i was wrong . russian is more developed and less size . so i installed russian version .and i got 145 fps on league of legends , i5 cpu 4th gen , , wich was incredible . in us version i didnt reach it .
