Christmas 2024: cancelling out the living room tree and performing an excessive amount of vacuuming to try to get all the pine needles out of the carpet.

I had the same problem with that dust from the ultrasonic humidifier too. I don't burn wood. I went back to warm mist. Warm mist humidifies faster.

If I could find a large enough warm mist model, that would be my preference as this machine cools the air considerably. Unfortunately large form factor warm mist models are quite hard to come by.

I beleive all ultrasonic humidiers have the white dust issue which is a shame. Hopefully manufactures will look into that at some point and make a modification to eliminate that. I would believe just the use of a foam filter where the mist comes out would do a lot in preventing that from happening. When it comes to warm mist humidifiers, it depends on the space where they are at. Still Evaporitive humidiers are the best but its a shame they are not easy to find anymore.

Those trees shed like crazy, we also get real pine trees every year for a christmas tree and there's no avoiding pine needles all over the floor when getting rid of it. I've found that a towel under the tree could help with making cleanup easier, but at the end of the day there's still gonna be pine needles left behind wherever the tree goes.

It can be safe to say Jordan you used almost every vacuum in the house for this project. To me, these real pine trees are too much of a hassle and just cleaning up the mess afterward like this would drive me crazy. I still can't imagine the white dust on all the lights either and cleaning them off adds more time to this process. It's a good thing you did make the change and stay away from the ultrasonic humidifiers. They do work well but the white dust problem that comes with these humidifiers gets sickening. I just started using mine again this year since the dryness began creeping in the house again and I was greeted a week later by the white dust. However when it comes to the pink slime problem, it is the minerals in the water that does cause the pink slime to occur. What I have been doing is using about 3/4 tap water and then 1/4 of pure distilled water and it does seem to do the trick in helping keep the majority of the pink slime away. Have had mine going for almost 3 weeks now and still have had very minor pink slime accumulation. Now only If I could figure out the white dust issue.
