Christmas Advent Day 3 🤎🎄 Vintage Watercolor Christmas Cards

Hello everyone, and welcome back to CalmDay & Art! Today is Day 3 of the Christmas Advent! I'm so excited to share with you the idea of creating three handmade vintage watercolor cards. ✨ A step-by-step guide and a list of materials ✨ can be found in the description below 👇. Each card features a unique design with a cozy and festive atmosphere. I'll walk you through a few simple steps to create these cards, but as always, feel free to explore your own creative ideas - I'm here to inspire you to make something festive and heartfelt.
✨ Step 1: Take any watercolor paper suitable for crafting a 5x7 in card. You can use vintage-style watercolor paper or just regular paper.
✨ Step 2: Start by creating a base layer with white watercolor. The white paint will make the colors you apply on top appear softer and more pastel-like. Let the base layer dry completely before moving on to the next step.
✨ Step 3: Begin painting your design with watercolor on top of the dry white base, adding various accents. For the leaves and pine branches, I mixed Sap Green + Payne's Gray.
For shadowed areas, I used Indigo and a mix of Burnt Sienna + Payne's Gray for the cinnamon sticks. To add blue accents to the pine branches, mix a bit of white with Indigo.
✨ Step 4: Once your composition is fully dry, add snow details using white acrylic paint or gouache. These paints are more opaque compared to watercolor, which is naturally more transparent.
✨ Step 5: Attach your finished designs to craft card blanks to create greeting cards. I used double-sided tape for this step.
