🎄Christmas Card Series | Card #9 | Layering Stencils | Take 5.....AHH!

Welcome back returning friends and new friends, we are on card or card #9 for my Christmas series and these three cards were a struggle and a labor of love for me but I kept soldiering on and got three beautiful cards in the end!
The series will run from now until the week before Christmas, I will be bringing as many cards as I can make during this series. These are some of my favorite cards to create, again enjoy and let’s get into it.

I hear you on the struggles! Sometimes you just have to walk away and come back in a different day. The cards turned out beautiful! I noticed you used the Tombow repositionable glue to stick down your cardstock. That is actually the glue I use to stick down my stencils. I add some dots of it to the back, spread around and let dry. You don’t need much as a little goes a long way. The first time you use the stencil it may leave a little residue. However an adhesive eraser will quickly handle that. HTH!

Some stencil tips: Ann Is correct. This stencil set is intended to be used with a full sheet of paper. Taylored Expressions puts the company name and stencil number on the stencil, right-side up at the bottom, so it's easy to tell which way to use the stencils. The square holes on the side are meant to be inked on the first layer and used to line up the subsequent layer stencils. As someone else said, a Waffle Flower mat or Wendy Vecchi Make Art station makes stenciling easier. The Waffle Flower mat texture does a good job holding the paper in place and has a raised corner to help consistently position the stencils. The Wendy Vecchi station uses magnets to hold everything down, but it doesn't have a raised corner for positioning. For 6x6 layering stencils, I personally use Sticky Grid in the Tim Holtz stamp platform, where I line up the stencil in the corner, held down with magnets, and place the paper under the stencil, with the sticky grid holding it in place. It makes it incredibly easy to work with layering stencils. If I'm using any kind of messy paste with stencils, I use the Waffle Flower mat for easy clean-up.

Way to stick with it. Gorgeous cards. I just used black on Christmas cards to make infinity shakers behind a snowman stamped and colored on a white oval. Black does really make the colors pop.

I believe you can use a full sheet of paper and make 4 cards at once.Then cut them into 4 cards at the end. Hope that makes sense. Your cards are beautiful!

Great end results. I have a hard time w/ stencils too. I never know if the placement is off when using layering stencils. This encourages me. BTW: your nails look so festive💕

I don't have any stencils for the same reason you have with them, I'm too nervous cos when they go wrong I'll be wasting card which I hate. Don't get me wrong I'd love to be able to make a stencil card but I'm too nervous Hahahaha

That is a beautiful layering stencils and your cards are gorgeous! Good for you for persevering! Like anything else, stencils get easier with practice. There are a couple products on the market now to make stenciling easier, the Make Art Station and the Waffle Flower stencil mat. I haven't tried either one--I usually just use low tack tape.

I love how your panels turned out, but just a tweak of the cardstock would help line up a little better. The guidelines on the stencil for a full sheet of cardstock measures 8 x 10 1/2. This way the cuts even out and you can do the whole sheet at once. You may have a better chance to line up without shifting. Try it, I think you will enjoy it even more! Beautiful turnout and the black is very elegant!

What kind of trimmer do you use? I saw it was swing line but it doesn’t look like it’s the 12 x 12 size?

Pretty cards but It always confuses me why everyone puts red berries on mistletoe when they are off white? What colour old you use to make them the right colour? Scattered straw and picket fence?

Yes I know mistletoe is white, I am thinking of using the last stencil set that I didn't use and do the white like it is originally. I just think the red and green look festive.

Save yourself the frustration and pitch the adhesive in the trash!!!! Why waste your time and money (ripped cardstock) and just purchase a product that works!
