Doing my prep today (Christmas Eve), cooking for 8 tomorrow. Turkey crown, pigs in blankets, honey-mustard roasted carrots, (an odd one) chilli-honey parsnips, yorkie puds, brussels sprouts, runner beans, tenderstem broccoli, stuffing balls, and gravy. Not quite the 'Dibley meat and fifteen veg', but it feels close! I’ll be adding a couple of sausages to jazz up the packet stuffing mix - thanks for the suggestion. Have a lovely Christmas 🎅🎄

Mine is much the same, plus: roast whole onion, roast flat mushrooms, roast garlic, savoy cabbage, cauliflower, peas, broad beans - probably more LOL I'm cooking for one - but the bubble & squeak is requested by ten on Boxing Day. Hope you have a lovely time 🙂

all the best Stevo, catch you on the other side mate ... as to your chrimbo tips regarding kids, my favourite part of the meal was watching my son as I made him eat one Brussel and see him trying not to throw up ... valuable life lesson for him 🤣 seriously its is a lot of hassle put on use by ourselves, like you say its just another Sunday roast. Oh, and I was joking about my son he tried them once was nearly sick so never got any again ... but they do make the best bubble and squeak for boxing day breakers... right then just off the thaw the turkey with my greenhouse heater😋

B&S just isn't B&S without sprouts - dunno what it is but that add that something to it! Did you ever watch The Royle Family family Christmas Special where Dave put the turkey in the bath with him cos they forgot to defrost it? PMSL Have a great time buddy!

LOL should have watched this before I made a fussy meal....nah....it was delightful. However, a couple sheet lasagnas, garlic bread and a salad might have been wayyyyyyy less complicated.🤣 Enjoyed having everyone here for a few days and now to relax. Happy New Year my friend.🥰

I say the same every year, Robin, but I still put myself through the stress. The mains supply voltage must have been very low here on Christmas Day as the 30 minute Pigs In Blankets took over an hour to cook in the oven!

@@DigwellGreenfingers My BIL did the turkey on the grill, so that left me the oven and stove to accomplish dinner. My dear friend was my sous chef...... everybody enjoyed the meal. I do think that my Brussel Sprouts were the biggest hit however. I sautéed them in EVOO with garlic cloves, until just a little browned, then added dried cranberries, freshly grated parmigiana, S&P.......I had halved the sprouts and had them in a pot of water, so they were very moist. So very simple but truly delicious.

@@RobinGardens The sprouts soung great! (I had to do a search for EVOO! Never ever seen it written like that before!) And it took me a while to realise that by "grill" you mean what we can a BBQ LOL I'm sat here picturing a family sized turkey under a UK grill PMSL

@@DigwellGreenfingers LOL....and we both speak 'English'. Reminds me of a conversation with my bestie from the UK when she was living here. Normally no translation needed. @ times I did more than pause to think though the first was "let's put it in a bin bag". No clue for a bin bag translation in my head, until she said out in the garage the black ones for the bin.....did I catch on....garbage bags. Next was at a meeting and she says "let's get out our diaries and coordinate". That was a little easier because we were trying to find a date that worked for everyone. Diaries here are to record history not future events.

@@RobinGardens And some say (shudder to think LOL) that the American way of spelling some words with "er" at the end insterad of "re" is correct. The Pilgrim Fathers took the language as spoken/written at the time, with them. It is only later with the French influence that we changed: Theater, Center, Miter, Fiber vs Theatre, Centre, Mitre, Fibre etc
