I cracked up when I saw the title, I immediately thought "isn't she supposed to be packing"🤣. I love the textured prints, ribbed knits and boucles, very nice. Can you believe I bypassed all fabric emails I received this holiday. Trying to refocus my stash🙄. Your dad is going to love that shirt, definitely let us know what he thinks.

I am totally supposed to be packing! I wanted to get one last haul in before I threw in the towel. I think I am finally satisfied, but it is so tough to ignore the emails, sooo tough. I will let you know what he says, I am working on it as we speak!

“I think i like texture more than print”, that was profound! You just blew my mind!
@SewingatMidnight6 жыл бұрын
Kathleen, I know how you feel! I love prints, but if I keep it real and look around my stash, or look at clothes on pinterest, the things I gravitate toward are more of a texture type of deal than an actual print. It really does influence my fabric purchasing!

It is so much better to “mess up” an item before it is sewn. I try to make a practice of prewashing as soon as it comes home. I will make an exception with fleece. I didn’t always follow this rule. In my stash I have a few older fabrics that I did not prewash, so they crop up. And from time to time I will purposely wash a dry clean only fabric to see what it does. I am in the process of making shirts for my dad, I just mailed one to test fit. He loves bright colors and he is 84, so he is getting bright colors!
@SewingatMidnight6 жыл бұрын
Carole, I do the same thing! As soon as I get my fabric it goes in the wash, well, sometimes I show it off to you guys first. I have a few things that are not meant for the wash, but I like to push the envelope with that sort of thing too. Carole, you and I like to live dangerously don't we!

You clearly have such a good time filming that it makes watching fun, too! I think that the cream sweater knit from Julie’s Swatch Club fell into your bag by mistake ... it was meant for me but when I got there is was sold out! At 14:25, when you were showing the Georgette it really looked like there was a tabby cat face in the design. I looked twice to be sure! (No - not drinking at the moment). Good luck with the move and Happy New Year!🎊🎆

Oh, those Julies Picks! I get on there the morning of the first day of the month because I have been burned by waiting before. I had my heart broken too many times to wait on it! I will honor the cream sweater knit for you! I do have a good time filming and laughing at myself.

That is so funny that you know of the “Dirty Show.” My niece and her husband attend that when it is in Detroit. He is a very talented artist and I believe he has had some of his pieces in the show. Ask your father if he knows Tim Pewe. My niece looks for clothing and shoes that are very provocative. By the way I love your vlog. I just stumbled onto you from watching other sewist vlogs. I am recently starting to return to sewing after hectic life raising children, helping with grandchildren, moving, etc. but am now retired. I will continue to follow you.
@SewingatMidnight6 жыл бұрын
My dad also attends the Detroit show! I will ask him next time I talk to him, I almost have his shirt finished. I have heard its a fun event, and my dad seems to love it. I would love to check it out myself, but preferably in a city far away from pops, we have an excellent relationship, but that would just be way too weird! I am happy to have you here and I hope you jump into your sewing again, it can be a great way to carve out time all to yourself. I am a huge fan of self care!

I bought the athletic wear mesh from fabric mart with the same intent, kinda :) . I almost always need an FBA and have clothes and coats I've bought that would look much better without the gaping and puckering so I am going to open the side seams and add a triangle at the top. Poof! New clothes to wear! You are just too cute!

Just started watching your channel. Love it. The top you had on is great. I’m thinking about a new sewing machine. What type of machine did you use to make top. Thanks for a great video and good luck on move.
@SewingatMidnight6 жыл бұрын
Welcome Helen! I used my serger to make the top and I have a Babylock Evolution. It costs an arm and a leg, but the lack of hassle threading it is well worth the money. I love the air threading system, I can switch from coverstitch to serging in just a few minutes. For my regular machine, I have a Husqvarna Viking Opal 650 and it is amazing too.

Thanks for sharing the last haul of the year. I'm surprised you didn't purchase the striped confetti fabric (CRB1154w) and kept waiting for you to show it next. The mature fabric wasn't that bad, I think he'll wear it and chuckle every time he sees someone staring at it. Instead of lining the as-is fabric maxi dress, why not make a long, tank-top style slip to wear under it? Much easier and you won't lose the drape. Happy holidays and good luck with your move.
@SewingatMidnight6 жыл бұрын
Debbie, I don't know why I didn't buy that confetti fabric either!!! So, I think my dad will love the print, and he will fit right in at the art show. Great idea about how to make the maxi dress work, definitely an option I love. I really hate lining things!

I haven't decided just yet, but I think I will hold off on deciding anything until I get out to Phoenix, the temperatures are very different there and my lifestyle will also be pretty different, so I think I want to get a feel for it before I dive into my warm cozy fabrics. When are you actually moving? I’ve moved 14 times since we got married. May I suggest you label everything! And leave more time for “last minute things” than you expect to need😉
@SewingatMidnight6 жыл бұрын
I am moving sometime in February or March, but my stuff is moving in about a week! I have been pretty meticulous with the labeling, but I am sure it will still be a hassle when its time to move into the new place. You must be a pro by now!

I love a slinky sleeping deal! So, there were some very graphic filthy prints, but I thought this one was more subtle for a gentleman of advanced years, I think he will love it!
