okay so I made this pattern once with denim and my front waistband did the same thing... I put the piece in upside down

Hi just found your video. I’m in AZ too are you still here ? Love your videos. Are you still sewing?
@SewingatMidnight4 ай бұрын
Still in AZ, I am still sewing, just not at a high enough volume to make videos. I'm working on it!

I think the puffiness of the shoulder gathers might be solved by taking in the should seams, making the top actually shorter so it's tighter vertically

How did this just pop up? I really enjoyed listening while you ladies talked sewing, fitting and real life challenges. It's been 3 years, please do it again.

Love the stripes! I've made this dress too - in chambray with the A-line skirt and some hand-carved wooden buttons from Italy. You are right about the placement of the buttons. Since my buttons were the star of the show, I just placed them evenly spaced apart and did the button holes in a thread color to match them, again to highlight those buttons (they were expensive! LOL!) Now I'm making the pencil skirt version in an embroidered cotton but having trouble with the band. Oy. Not sure what I've done wrong. OH well. Thanks for the video!

I had exactly the same problem with the waist section. it fitted fine on my muslin but then on the actual dress it was too wide at the top of the waist yolk in the same way as yours. On the next one Im just going to cut that piece with straught sides.

Love this video that references Nancy Zieman's chart. I especially loved how you talked about the areas that I have trouble with--I'm short, full busted, fairly narrow shoulders etc. Please consider making more videos together. I know this has been out there for more than 3 years, but the information is still valuable. I had started to only make quilts and children's clothes--nothing for myself anymore because of being disappointed with the fit. Now, I plan to start up sewing for myself again.

I would love to have the Nancy Zieman chart. I remember using it diligently tears ago. Somehow I’ve lost it andI can’t get the link to work. Can you help?

You two are hysterically funny! Mostly because I do ALL the same hacks for fitting and rarely go too far wrong. But I must say that my one experience with a Lisette pattern was a total disaster from start to finish--it fit HORRIBLY everywhere! So not planning on buying ANY more of that designer. Just glad to hear you are "normal" like the rest of us who do lots of hacks to fit --the EASIEST are the most preferred!

You have a very nice craft space. I am so glad that your Mom was the first comment I found here, that is a great support. I don't know what time of day it is when you filmed this, but I think that for future videos I would leave the alcoholic drinks out of it. You don't want to give people the wrong idea, as you did me if that isn't a regular thing with you. If it is a regular thing and it's 10am, then you may want to re-thimk that habit and if necessary get some help.
@SewingatMidnight3 жыл бұрын
Hi Kathy, Although I did not mention it in this video, I was working the midnight shift, so I worked every day from 11pm to 7am, which means that that 10am is similar to 5 or 6pm for the rest of the world. Basically 10am was my dinner time. I can assure you that I am not an alcoholic. But thank you for being concerned. I appreciate you looking out for me.
