Christkindlesmarkt in Nürnberg is one of the best Christmas markets in Germany. It takes place during Advent in the Hauptmarkt, the central square in Nuremberg’s old town, and in adjoining squares and streets. With about two million visitors a year the Nürnberger Christkindlesmarkt is one of the largest Christmas markets in Germany and one of the most famous in the world. Every year the Christmas market begins on the Friday preceding the first Sunday in Advent and ends on December 24, unless that day is a Sunday.

If you are ever there for Weinachts, on Christmas Eve you MUST go to the Lorenzkirche at midnight, if not earlier. At midnight Oh Du is sung at the end of the service. The doors are flung open while the carol ends and the congregation streams out into the cold night. But many wait. A bell rings over and over for perhaps 15 minutes. Then the battery of bells in the church opens up full throttle. It is amazing! You can hear everything from Bach to the Beatles in that wave of sound-anything you want to hear. My high school lit teacher called that a "trancendental experience".

Lived in Nuremburg from 1976-1985 as an Army Dependant...basically I grew up in Germany. We would go to the Christkindlesmarkt every year at Christmas and rotate the ring on the fountain for luck.

Was in Nuremberg from 20th to 26th dec 2019 and enjoyed the Christmas market twice, beautiful but very expensive artefacts on display and for a person like me who does not eat swine, food was limited.Enjoyed trip to various places in Germany.Picture perfect.

Such a beautiful place ! I was lucky enough to visit there many times while I was stationed in Germany twice. I was even more lucky to have brought my wife and children there the second time I was stationed in Germany. The German people were so kind and seemed to enjoy telling us about the history of the churches and other things. My children loved the place and I hope some day that I can go back for just one more visit but this time with my grandchildren. I pray that it never changes

Yo estuve el año pasado en ese bello lugar. Es precioso todo, las paradas de cositas de navidad, el Glühwein está buenísimo, los Lebkuchen... Mis hermanas y yo vivimos ahí del año 1969 al 71 y después de 50 años el año pasado volvimos y paseamos por los sitios de cuando éramos pequeñas. Unos recuerdos maravillosos.
