Absolutely wonderful video, from beautiful Hereford Cathedral & the Mappa Mundi to Peppa Pig balloons.

I forgot to mention, I love the carol of the bells.

Me too! Think that's my favourite - I remember using that piece before at the opening of my Christmas in the Cotswolds video from Broadway.

Aaah the carol of the bells!! Always enjoy listening to that. They put on a very good show, well done Hereford. It looked a very interesting place to visit. I didn't know about the map in the cathedral until I read Diana's comment. Hope you get to go back one day. Gradually the Christmas spirit arrives, working at home I don't feel it, my wife says the school children are already getting excited. The shops make one small leep from Halloween to Christmas with a brief hiatus for Black Friday!! We're off to Madrid this weekend as its bank holiday Friday and Monday. Hope you've warmed up by now. All the best!!

Thanks David! Yes, 'Carol of the Bells' is my favourite too! I think Hereford can be very proud of what they achieved here. Yes, the Mappa Mundi is the largest medieval map in the world and dates from 1300. I will look at it in more detail in a future video. Also in the cathedral is the chained library. Much to see in Hereford, indeed in wider Herefordshire, yet it doesn't get much exposure on KZbin like Devon and Cornwall does (until now!!). It is the least populated county in England. Hope you have a great weekend in Madrid - sounds like it should be a good long weekend. Take care, Paul

I really enjoyed that! Thanks Paul! A lovely festive film! I don’t think I have ever been to Hereford. It looks lovely there and the cathedral is stunning.

Thank you Louise! It was a wonderful evening with a great atmosphere. I do hope to do a couple more Christmas videos (as well as my other usual videos) before the big day. Hereford is a really nice small city (it is much smaller than both Gloucester & Worcester, although it has similarities to both of them, and much in common). Yes, the Cathedral is amazing there, and not far from the River Wye. Glad you enjoyed this little Christmas film. Take care, Paul

Thanks, Paul! Some nice lights, and a very attractive Christmas tree. I've recently watched a few videos of the numerous million-dollar displays of Christmas decorations in Singapore - quite spectacular, but I prefer the more simple and modest English displays, which bring back a lot of memories. Where I am now, there's little point to Christmas lights (although we do have a few) because it doesn't get dark until about 10 p.m. at this time of year.

Thank you Jim! I think Hereford can be very proud of what they have achieved here. It is a comparitvely small city in a largerly rural area, so it was a good effort - obviously not as glitzy as the big boys in the likes Bristol and Birmingham, but still good, I think. I was impressed. Lovely atmosphere there, and good music - shame YT won't even allow clips of the music. The choir and Eternal were especially brilliant. Yes, you need the early evenings to get the best effect. Great to hear from you, Take care, Paul

Thank you Darren! Surprisingly, I didn't feel overwhelmed here - the atmosphere of the event and the fab music (shame we can't use it on YT) kept me going. Glad you enjoyed it and you are now in the Christmas mood. Take care, Paul

Thanks for braving the cold & rain to show us some of the festivities in Hereford! Also glimpsing the Cathedral & its star attraction the Mappa Mundi. It’s a pity we couldn’t hear the carol’s because of those music licensing laws. It seemed quite crowded so thank you for filming amongst the throng of people there! Our Christmas Lights were switched on, this Friday- we have fireworks too - haven’t been to see them yet. It does get you into the Christmas mood- thanks Paul!

Thank you Diana! Yes, the Mappa Mundi is the oldest medieval map in the world - 1300! I do hope to return to Hereford to do a more in depth explore there. The evening really did get me in the Christmas mood too! Take care, Paul

What a lovely video. Another to add to the many. I really enjoy your videos, Paul, and particularly the 'detective' work you do when discovering long lost railway lines and canals. Compulsory viewing in our house these days! 😊

Thank you - glad you enjoyed it. Yes, I will continue to make the Lost Railway and Lost Canal series - although I am waiting for a bit dryer conditions underfoot before I make another one! It was a terrific atmosphere in the City of Hereford that evening - and a good turnout too! Take care, Paul

Hello Paul and thanks for the lovely video. We'll done to Hereford for the excellent light show. What a shame we couldn't hear the choir or Eternal. Copyright is a real pain to you vloggers Nice quick visit to the cathedral and the walk around the town was beautifully photographed
@westcountrywanderingsАй бұрын
Thank you Michael! Yes, some KZbinrs can include some music, but as my channel is monetised I can't. I can make specific videos not monetised, which is fine, but I have heard that you can still get what is known as a 'copyright strike', and it can put your channel on the 'naughty step' so future videos don't get pushed out so much - so I decided to take no chances, and not use any copyrighted music - which is a shame, I know. I hope it didn't affect the enjoyment of the video though. I do hope to return to Hereford in the new year for a more in depth look at this fascinating city. I thought that for a relatively small city the light show was very good. Take care, Paul

In my opinion, the missing music did nothing to spoil this video. Your commentary gave me the "Christmas Feeling" loud and clear. Superb production as usual old friend

Thank you Paul. Thank you for the Bach! The little fugue in g minor or close. That was a profound sound for me, The teacher just took the arm off midway and left aching for its completion. You got me thinking: if I could start a new yew this month, how could I do so? Thank you so very much Paul.
