Can you please make a video responding to the channel, “I Chose Hampture”. This man tortures his hamsters keeping them in under water aquariums. The hamsters are in tiny enclosures with no bedding, wheels, or interaction. One of the aquariums just had a leak. This man is sick!!

Ok so for the bearded dragon tank... Pros: They have a heat light Has thermometer They feed them dubias The substrate is ok Cool looking background Bearded dragon looks ok Is fed veggies Is held often Cons: 20 gallon tank, seriously? Uncleaned poop in the picture We don’t know if it has uvb Lights are on different sides of the tank! No enrichment. Nothing to climb on and nothing to hide under. I rate it a 2. Even though there are lots of pros, that doesn’t matter if there are lots of cons as well.

The beardie tanks have the basking spot in the middle of the tank, meaning that there is no room for them to be able to thermoregulate effectively as heat will cover both ends of the tank. A basking bulb needs to be at one end of the tank to allow them to have a hot side and a cooler side.

I would have rated some of those beardie tanks lower, as none of them had linear uvb which is essential to absorb d3. This will lead to MBD and stunted growth so it’s pretty important. Along with other issues mentioned, bearded dragons need more space than you might expect, the bigger the better.

I think she has already mentioned why she doesn't do this. She doesn't want to risk offending her subscribers especially since many may be young as well. It's one thing saying "Here is what person A is doing, here's how to make it better" rather than directly telling the people who support you that they're potentially not doing a good job. Hopefully if they're seriously watching her videos, they can figure out what they need to change in their enclosures on their own tbh.
@alishatomblin3363
@alishatomblin3363 5 жыл бұрын
Not necessarily rate but showing us how to improve which is the same thing as telling us what we can do better because everyone has to start somewhere & not everyone knows everything, especially her younger viewers. You can research all you want & still make some mistakes because we are all human. Some people don’t have the time to watch all her videos. I love watching them as much as I can though. & yes I can see why she wouldn’t want to now. Some people do get offended & she wouldn’t want to upset any of her subscribers that enjoy watching her. By the way Merry Christmas Eve you all! 🎄🎅☃️

I rehomed 1 of the hamsters and i am keeping the rest of them. If i have space again i will save one lucky hamsters. Each hamster got their own 1 meter terrarium with a nature themed style. And a LOT of chew toys. Like i keep buying them😂 they also have a 27 cm wheel, a sandbath, good food, 2 times a week a healthy salad with fruits. And some life plants. Was it just me or were the first Bearded Dragons living in cardboard boxes? Also, from the limited amount of knowledge I have on beardies, the environments looked very small for the size of the dragons. Surely, along with how close the basking lamps were to the base of the tank, there wouldn't have been much of a heat gradient in there either? Like I say, my knowledge is fairly limited so correct me if I'm wrong here.

One of my old hamsters used to love her flying saucer wheel, I always kept a normal wheel in there but she never really used it. I would say put a normal wheel in there just in case because as I found out the only time she would use her normal wheel was when the saucer was jammed as she liked to sleep underneath it, and they can be easily jammed up by bedding throughout the night. But everyone's experiences will be different

I took in a 2 yr old bearded dragon from Craigslist about a month ago and I'm really happy with her. Her previous care was adequate but not ideal, she was being kept in a 40 gal, with heat and UV, but was fed a mix of pellets and wild caught insects and wasn't given any calcium or vitamin supplement, and her hide was wayyy too small for her (it looks like they got it for her when she was a baby and never got her a bigger one). She's in a 4' x 2' x 2' sliding door style enclosure now with more enrichment and a better diet.

On the beardies, a full tank of loose substrate is actually very bad for their joints. They need solid ground to walk on. If they feed out of cage the walnut bedding pictured is okay...but you want a very thin layer atop something like ceramic tiles. Oh, Munchie! About the beardie tanks, I used to house my two adult beardies in 40 gallon breeders and they both got too big for them (as in their tail tip to head.) We ended up getting them both 75 gallon tanks too, just because it was hard watching them barely have enough room to turn around.
@beardiemom
@beardiemom 2 жыл бұрын
Please don't take this as an attack, but beardies should be housed in a 120 gallon tank or 4'x2'x2'. Considering a healthy adult bearded dragon should be anywhere from 16 to 24 inches in length, even that 2' tank depth seems almost a little short. Also, setting up the temperature gradient that they need to regulate their body temperature would be hard in a smaller tank. If you want to educate yourself further, check out Wicken's Wicked Reptiles or Clint's Reptiles for their videos on bearded dragon care.

As far as I've learned cricket colony's arn't indefinite. After a few generations they get inbread the more inbread they get the more likely your colony is going to fail sometimes it can be prolonged by introducing new crickets but there is no guarantee this goes for any feeder colony roaches, crickets, worms,etc. But they can save you enough money to make it worth it you just have to replace the colony every couple of years. It is a great investment to grow a colony If you have a lizard

23:23 I don’t know a ton about Bearded Dragons. I do know the tank is far too small, it’s unknown if there’s UVB on the tank and there shouldn’t be two basking lights on either side. Shouldn’t they have a warm and cool side? There needs to be some sort of level so the lizard get get closer to the heat source (or further away). I don’t believe they need that big of a water bowl, but I’m glad he’s getting veggies and roaches.

You can even tell that the sows have been chewing on the cage and according to guniea pig 101 "Also, biting their cage bars might be a sign of boredom, lack of mental stimulation, not enough room in the cage, or even due to improper diet." it's hard to tell but the cage looks really small for a guniea pig let alone two

The piggies in the small cage are what I see a lot. Well, assuming they're even in a cage when I get them. We've had some in cardboard boxes, and when asked about cage etc. we're put off from it; people are happy to give their animals to a rescue, but not the equipment to care for them. You can tell the people who love their guinea pigs. We had a pair of elderly brothers who came with their C&C cage, 2x4 with fleece bedding, plus the stuff for their nails and impaction, not to mention a care book and a pet carrier. I connected two women earlier this year, one who wanted to get guinea pigs for her son and one who needed to rehome her female; I had a female who I'd been fostering for a year, so we paired them up and I drove them down to the adopter's home (different city, 3 hour drive), and the woman who gave up her girl passed on the cage, hay, bedding, food, and other supplies. And we were gifted a 2x4 C&C cage with extra grids, several bags of fleece bedding, a bin of puppy pads etc, and some hides, by a woman who adopted a boy from us in 2014 to be a cage mate for her disabled male. Those two got along famously, and after the older one passed away the younger one (the one who was adopted) didn't last a week, he was so heartbroken. Various life events mean that they won't be getting new piggies for a while, and when they do they would rather start fresh with all new everything, so my rescue won out.

For bearded dragon set ups without water, that’s actually not an issue. Bearded dragons get most of their water from food, or from a weekly bath. You can also take a syringe and put droplets on your bearded dragon’s nose to encourage them to drink. But they’re desert dwelling creatures and are designed to have lesser water intake. Many won’t even ever try drinking from bowls because that’s just not how they drink in the wild. They drink either drops of water off of plants or rocks, usually, in the wild.

I love your videos. I don't have pets (and I don't want any), but your videos are so educating and I'm sure, the have impact. Pets are work and I think, you are doing a great job in making people aware of that and why it is important. And I like the color of your fancy lipstick :) Your skin looks so so pale, like paperwhite. I thought, this was maybe because of your camera and lightning and not intended? Red, White and Green are Christmas Colors, so I find this funny.

Beardies should never be kept on just sand - even if you feed them outside the enclosure. I would recommend keeping them entirely on tile or smooth gravel instead, though having some sand isn't terrible as long as they have the option to leave the sand without having to climb to a basking spot. For beardies having only sand as the floor substrate can lead to femoral pore impaction which can cause several other issues including infection if left untreated.

One thing about the beardie in the 70 gallon that could be a deadly but probably unintental mistake is you MUST use a heating Pad with a themisat I've had friends that their lizards were cooked alive on unregulated heating sources and instead of carpet maybe use tie a lot of expericed owners and breeders do this or newspaper

i know I'm a late for this one but I thought why not put my opinion out there for number 7 you said the naturalistic sand lowered the risk for impaction which I believe is correct but not positive due to not knowing the actual type of sand the ideal substrate for a beardie is about 2/3 topsoil 1/3 playsand it is recommended by lots of people it allows for burrows and lowers the risk of impaction to almost none and for enclosure size 40 gal breeders are the "minimum" but imo that's way too small the min for me is gonna be a 75 gallon and ideally an adult would be housed in a 4x2x2 or 120 gal and on to number 8 the tank is way to small as you stated and the newspaper substrate is ok but topsoil play sand mix is much better for enrichment and just better quality of life also I can't really tell exactly what each light is but ideally they would be a uvb strip measuring 2/3 of the enclosure and to have a large heat gradiant which I harder to pull of in a tank for that size number 8 would most likely be a 2 maybe 3 but it really depends on the information that was not included

#8 Bearded Dragon Overall, I would rate it a 2. She looks healthy, but her setup needs major improvements. Cons: 1: The tank isWAY too small, it should be 40 gallons minimum. 2: The bearded dragon has no enrichment. 3: The water dish is too high. 4: The rock is directly under the heat lamp, so it could burn her. Pros: 1: heating and UVB present. 2: Newspaper as substrate, which is good. 3: The Bearded Dragon looks healthy. 4: She is handled often, and is therefore friendly and would be a great family addition

As a previous beardie owner who did tons of research into the species upon getting her (oh my god I miss him so much I'm gonna cry) that tank is WAY too small. 40 gallon breeder is the generally accepted MINUMUM for a baby beardie, and I believe if memory serves the preferred minimum for an adult is a 60 gallon tank.

for the bearded dragon tank. First of all, bearded dragons do not belong in 20 gallon tanks unless they are juveniles. There is not a lot of enrichment in the enclosure. It just looks very bland. Also the lights are on opposite sides of the enclosure when they should be on one. There is no basking spot for him to bask. pro's: he has heating and UVB I think, can't tell if that's a UVB bulb. The substrate is fine, there is a thermometer, there are veggies, bearded dragon looks healthy, there's a water dish, tank looks clean except for poops here and there.

I have an unintentional spare cage that was intended for a hamster that was given to me and if I ever saw a hamster, gerbil or another small furry I would immediately rehome them 😊 I wouldn’t care if it was long term or fostering I would do it! I tried to persuade my parents to take in a bunny that needed rehoming but my mum said no (in all fairness I have 5 bunnies already 😳)

@Munchie's Place Something else about the Bearded Dragons, they should not be on sand or any small gritty substrate like that. It easily clogs the femoral pores (scent/oil glands located near the rump and underside of the rear legs of the dragon) causing issue. Many people don't know about this and it makes me wonder if these 2 beardies potentially had clogged pores.

Reptiles are quite a bit more expensive to set up than small mammals. For example, I just spent several hundred setting up an enclosure for a gecko I plan on getting. I don't think $100+ to get a setup off craigslist is a bad deal, especially if it's a proper setup for that animal.

I just seen a dwarf on Craigslist in the smallest cage ever, now I’m sad, I went on Craigslist to see if people are really that bad and the cage is so tiny, and this other add has three hamsters, separate cages, one is a 20g tank and the other two in separate 10g tanks, it’s so sad

I have sand for my bearded dragon enclosure but I feed him in a separate area so he won't ingest the sand Usually when I give him crickets I feed him in a clear tub and when I give him his superworms I feed him in a worm dish that I placed on his basking Rock above the sand and I watched to make sure none of the worms climb out and for his veggies I feed him in a food dish on the other side of the tank because the veggies can't climb out and get on the sand like live worms could

Just a comment about the bearded dragons the one without a water dish did really well because you shouldn't have water in their enclosure as it increases humidity and can be quite dangerous so you have to give them water a few times a day and keep an eye on their body language but most pet shops and owners don't know that and were never informed of that

Sand can cause impaction of the femoral pores in male beardies (females dont have those). You can give them regular baths, but thats no guarantee to prevent it. I'd also say all of those cages are too small for adults.

OKAY LET'S GO OFF ON THIS BEARDIE CARE because UGH IT'S BAD 1: Bulb ubv lights are never as effective as tube uvb lighting. They should have the tube version to stretch across the tank. 2: Dubia roaches are good, but you need to switch things up once in a while with bugs. 3: There was no mention of greens, which is a massive part of a bearded dragon's diet. 4: The tank is obviously way too small. I believe beardies should be in at least 75 gallons, but even a 40 would be much better than this. 5: There's nowhere for this beardie to properly bask. Bearded dragons like to be up high. 6: There's nowhere for this beardie to HIDE. If it wants to sleep or get some darkness, it has nowhere to go. 7: The water bowl is MASSIVE and mostly unnecessary. Bearded dragons often don't know how to drink from standing water, and should be soaked by their owner rather than themselves. 8:At least clean the poop on the floor before you take a picture, lol But yeah i'd give this a 2 , not a 1 because at least the beardie looks to be a good weight, Okay rant done lol

@avatarno1defender
@avatarno1defender 5 жыл бұрын
This was about bearded dragons. For leopard geckos, they do not require UVB, so it doesn’t matter that your bulb does not put a lot of UVB out, and they cannot handle high levels of it anyway. You’re going good.
