Hi Cpt. This seems to be surprisingly decent recent tooling from Revell (which is pretty rare in itself as it's not anyone else's kit thrown in a Revell box!! 😂 ). Funny how they didn't modify the instructions for the gift set version though to allow for only 3 paints being supplied...I guess the couple of pennies that it saved them were worth it to them though.... at least they give a decent cement and dispenser; the brush, well I've had one and found it rubbish! At least the Humbrol brushes given with the Airfix starter sets work well, and last a decent time!! Great video; I do like your slightly off-centre humour, and you managed to get a good result on that kit...the supplied paints are pretty good, I agree with you, and are very worthy of being included in a kit! 😊

this was my christmas gift lat year. Whole set is really good, only thing that got me confise was front landing gear. Pains are ok and I have sprayed mine with cheap asian airbrush and this lufthansa blue mixed with water with no issues at all. Same time I've tried to spray some shade of acrylic airfix green as interior green and I've failed completely. Hataka saved my day.

COLOUR INSTRUCTIONS - instantly gets 10 points. I'm yet to build a starter set from Revell, but they get hated so much more than they should be!

I love this kit. The paints are good and the cement is my standard. Revell4Lyf

Very nice! Have me curious about this kit now! Being a Starter Set, I assume it only has the one scheme for it? Painting the interior of the cowlings and wheel wells blue strikes me as odd. Dunnae think I've seen that on any -4 before. Not saying it's incorrect, I dunno, maybe there's something I am unaware of. But that just seems wrong on a core level for me. 😅 I do think you are spot on about the parts being molded in such a way as to allow either gear up or gear down, but again, why not include it in the instructions then? This is a gripe I have with many a manufacturer though; even the likes of Airfix, Tamiya, Hasegawa, and Italeri leave those portions out when their kits are clearly engineered with that in mind.

This tooling has been released as both a model set and stand alone kit 3 times (I believe). This has 1 scheme, there is 1 RN scheme in another box and the 1A with 2 tricolour options. This is based on images of the kit from Scalemates - usual caveat that this is Revell... The blue is strange and ordinarily I'd have fact checked it, but hey, this was a blindly follow kinda build.

Also of interest to me - the RN version is marked as skill level 4 despite stating 3 fewer pieces (however, I have looked over both instructions and think the RN one has 2 more?). It states to paint the cowling green and the bays and legs blue... Wonderful consistency there...
