The Lamar era of Buzzcocks is my favourite. There is so much more to this show then than there is with the latest version. 10x the content of any version since.

This clip is a beautiful example of professional comedy combined with professional musicianship; you've got Bill and Rick improvising a song based solely around a joke Mark made, and at 8:34 you've got a perfect summary of that staple dynamic between Mark and Bill that shows up in the future episodes of Buzzcocks.

Bill always reminds me of someone living in the woods in 1400AD. Friends with fairies and knows the local witches. Whenever I see him I feel he's an ageless creature whose lived through Britain's mythical legends.

Wakeman weren't loud enough. Keith Emerson didn't want a loud, show-off lead guitar in ELP - you can see why. Brilliant idea, though, Wakeman & Bailey. They could've gone far - but didn't, or didn't want to. We know that BB can play anything but can Wakeman? Is he any good at guitar? Well, we'll never know how big Wakeman & Bailey would've been if they'd gone for it.
