Anika! Of Course in Poland we also put fish scale in the wallet for lots of fortune in new year! We also put some hay on the table during the dinner, some salt and bread. We break the wafer and the youngest always picks the presents from under the Christmas tree and gives it to everyone. We only start dinner after seeing s first star, so when it’s already dark. And many many more :-)

I've imagined that Petra is putting a whole skin from a fish to her wallet, hence my face expression :P Just imagine it.. She has a big wallet, so she could pull this off :))

The fish skin is the weirdest thing I've heard of! :D Slovak Christmas sounds pretty exciting. Nothing too outside-the-box at home, in Québec. Growing up, we used to play Hockey in the street, the whole family. But now people prefer staying inside, eating, and drinking wine. Few years ago, our whole family went to a haunted mansion for a few days, for Christmas. That was cool. But I can definitely relate with Anika. Christmas will be much more special now, since it's probably the only time I'll be going back to Canada, every year.

Yup, I know, everyone is shocked when they hear about the fish scales! Playing hockey is cool though, we also used to play hockey on the street when we were kids, it is a very popular sport in Slovakia. Enjoy your Christmas in Canada! :)

I've just talked to a Slovak friend who explained to me that when you talk of fish skin, you don't mean like the WHOLE fish skin, which I'm sure we all imagined. :D Just 1 tiny shiny scale. I wondered how you all can go around without smelling like fish all the time :D

Loooool :D :D Yeah, I was actually talking about fish scales - wasn't sure what's the right English word for that, sorry :D No, smelling like fish all the time wouldn't be very attractive :D :D
