It is nice to see Dale Morris playing fiddle on KZbin. We were friends in Fort Worth in 1963. He used to sing quite a bit....very good singer. He won many fiddling contests. His younger brother Terry may have been one of the best fiddlers ever....PERIOD!

I had this song played at my Daddy's funeral. He passed 12-10-2013. This was his favorite song. When we were kids and this song was playing on the radio, we were demanded to roll all windows down and sing it out as loud as we were able. I miss you very much Daddy. And Christmas time is Coming!

What a nice surprise to have KZbin recommend this. I’d only ever heard it sung by Emmylou Harris, and didn’t know Mr. Monroe had been doing for a couple of decades prior.

By Dale, do you mean Dale Potter on fiddle? I know that's Tater Tater Tater Tate, as Mr. Monroe sometimes called him, on bass, with Wayne Lewis on guitar and Blake Williams on banjo, so it would be somewhere around 1984-86, in there.
