The other issue is that people that have put lights on some of these cars is that as the wind blows on the lights, they will rub back n forth on the paint and scratch the hades out of your paint job.

Yeah, people did this a long time ago in the late 80s. Neon kits and the like. A friend was driving the strip in Vegas and the police pulled him over and told him he was a distraction and to turn the lights off or he would turn them off his way...

I know here in NJ it's illegal but no one seems to enforce it. If you ask me, it should be illegal. Especially when you factor in the brighter headlights on top of that that all newer cars have. It makes driving after dark a nightmare for people like me who wear glasses. And for what? So you can be like "Oh, look at how pretty!". Safety should come before anything else. Period.

Impersonating a police officer / emergency vehicle? I'd love to see that make it to the supreme court; there's no way anyone would ever think that's 'reasonable' ... It's fine to outlaw xmas lights on cars, but at least give a proper reason; i.e. distraction to others, etc... Not one person, of sound mind, ever looks at one of these xmas lighted vehicles and thinks it's an emergency vehicle.

I see cars and trucks all of the time... That have those blue LED light up rings around their headlights... They also have red LED light up rings around their headlights... Cops drive right by them... They don't care... Crazy car mods? You mean like "squatting" trucks? Unsafe vehicles that should be impounded... And not be allowed on the road until brought back into factory ride height... People who put those rims on that have an 8" offset? Also an unsafe vehicle that should be impounded... AFAIK all states have a law against red and blue lights on the front of the vehicle. Yes, you will get pulled over and COULD be arrested for impersonating an officer!

there's a chance that wouldn't be upheld in court. courts do use common sense and in no way would they agree with impersonating an officer because of Christmas lights . more than likely they would just charge you with having lights that can distract other drivers.

You can't be serious!!! This is the most dumbest BS I've ever heard! Just make a law on this to where it can only be done between Black Friday and New Years or something. Must be a bunch of people who don't celebrate Christmas... Like jehovah's witness. This law should also state the lights have to be on steady and can only be all colors or all white. Christmas only comes once a year anyway. Let people celebrate it. They have the right to as it's supposedly the land of the free. Merry Christmas everyone!

There are other people who don't celebrate Christmas besides Jehovah's Witnesses... We who follow what the Bible Truly states... We who don't dance with the heathens and play with the pagans... We who worship GOD in Spirit and truth... Those who believed GOD when He said "Don't learn the ways of the heathen... And use them to worship thy LORD thy GOD in those ways"... But that's an argument for another day and another time... I hope everyone who does this stupid nonsense gets pulled over and a citation is issued to them for having illegal lighting... May it ruins their paint jobs... Play stupid games, win stupid prizes...
