Dude got multiple Grammies for the album. Masterpiece!!

This debut album from Mr. Cross won him 5 Grammys which included best new artist and album of the year for 1980. It is an incredible piece of work with “Sailing”, “Never Be The Same” and my personal favorite “Ride Like The Wind.”

And on top of it all he is an incredible guitar player.

@@davidhattman7649 absolutely. He shreds at the end of “Ride Like The Wind.”

@@Ray1969. yes he does and the cast of musicians on this album is just insane.

and in 1981 he won an Oscar for co-writing the Theme song from the Movie Arthur.

Love this! The soft drums and soft voice complement this song. Christopher Cross music always makes me feel good. Love Ride Like the Wind also very nice but more energetic.

Trivia FYI: SRV's Number One Strat was previously owned by Christopher Cross who traded it in for another one at Ray Hennig's Heart of Music's Texas shop before Ray gifted it to SRV in 1973.

this kind of music got slapped with an "easy listening" label somewhere along the way, which kind of relegated it to AM radio hell, but I love his voice and this was one of the first albums I owned when I was like 8 or 9 and I LOVED it back then. It's still smart songwriting and sweet singing - thanks for the reminder!

He’s actually a well respected guitarist. But his voice and look did place him into what they call Yacht Rock these days…..a sweet man too. Very active on Instagram.
@Ray1969.3 жыл бұрын
The easy listening label for this was always a bit silly to me. If you listen to “Ride Like The Wind” for instance, Christopher actually shreds the guitar towards the end of the song. Amazing album!!

This has always been my favorite hit of his, and he has many. It sounds simple, but try to sing along and you realize how difficult of a song it is to sing. I always liked the wood block sounds at the beginning.

You should react to Bobbie Gentry’s song Fancy. She wrote it and first recorded it in 1969
