WOW. I LOVE IT! That's so cool that you vibe to The Smiths! Yes -Morrissey has a distinctive voice - quite unique. Jim Morrison isn't a bad comparison because they both convey a dark sound - but Morrissey is self-depricating, tongue in cheek. He's got a dark, wicked, sense of humor. The Smiths were huge but they weren't played much on mainstream radio - you'd hear them on what we used to call College Radio or Alternative radio stations. Maybe they were one of the first huge bands that came out of alternative radio and weren't played on regular radio (not counting if you lived in NYC or California those cities always had stations that were edgier) - PLEASE come back and do more videos and more Smiths! Miss your videos. There is a Light A Light That Never Goes Out, This Charming Man, Ask, Please Please, Please, Let Me Get What I Want, Headmaster Ritual - there are MANY greats to discover.

Great reaction! The smiths always stayed indie and never got the fame that some of their counterparts but were more influential.

Next month it will be 2 years since I saw lead singer Morrissey in San Diego and it was incredibly exciting, and his band is amazing! I grew up near San Francisco and so have seen a zillion😉 concerts there and Morrissey’s made it into my Top 5 Best Concerts I’ve EVER seen (and I’ve seen the Beatles Live). I don’t know how he does it but at the time he was 64 and his voice was still perfect! I adore The Smiths but Morrissey’s solo work is as stellar and timeless as his stuff with The Smiths!❤

I never got to see the Smiths live but we see Morrissey every time he tours. He’s such a unique performer, seeing him makes me feel like what I imagine Elvis concertgoers felt.

Superb reaction. I'm really happy that you appreciated the transition at 3:53, it's one of my favourites. It's great to see younger people getting into the music I loved in the 80s. Quality never ages.

The UK post punk/ indie scene of the late 70s early 80s was my youth ( born in 69 ), it was full of great bands. I think you would really like Gang of Four - damaged goods.

Yes, this is just their sound. Morrissey still sounds like that. The Smiths were a huge influence on Andre 3000 of OutKast. I like you liking them 😊

"Panic" is one of my favorite songs of theirs. I am a Smiths fan but have seen Morrissey only once. He has developed some troubling hard right views (and somewhat racist and anti-immigrant)

The fact that the Doors come to your mind while listening to the Smiths proves that you don't know shit about popular music of the last 60 years.
