Mental health and physical health is a life-long struggle against oneself and one's environment. Societal problems are increasingly present in our minds, making us feel powerless and pessimistic, to the point of intense cynicism. Since it's better for our mental health to focus on the parts of the live we can control, we might as well start by fixing our relationships with the substances, processes, and behaviors that have the greatest potential for harm. But AA is right, people need to come to the realization that they are, in many ways, powerless over their addictions. On an unrelated note, we should definitely try to find safe spaces for out kids outside of the rigid structure of school, because "third-places" help kids' practice problem-solving on their own. Isolating them at home is just going to make them addicted to screens lol

Persons are addicted to entertainment. For 99% of the commenters here, all this is entertainment. And even the host of CTT, i don't think the man even yearns after this mysterious term in Truth. Entertainment helps us get through our day, for life is very difficult.

What about porn addiction? Where is it on the ladder of hardness to stop? Down to smoking or on the same level? It is a topic of taboo kinda, but it ruins life of many young man, they lose their personal and professional productivity.

Nearly everyone is addicted to something. They got everyone addicted to opioids, then cut them off after years ( withdrawals are terrible) and drove people to the street , where fentanyl was waiting for them. All they need is methadone to function normally ( maybe for the rest of their lives if necessary) but instead they made it difficult by making them go to a methadone clinic every day. Often miles away. Wonder why?

If you addicted and you can not control your addiction, seek help and get over it otherwise you will lose your money and your health. I watched a video about an American nurse who got addicted to illegal drugs and she ended homeless and with nothing. She is just one in millions worldwide!.

What about society’s impact on addiction? How much of the economy is supported by addiction dependent industries? The food industry’s use of advertisements is not regulated. Neither is the pharmaceutical industry’s ads are they? Diabetes and medicine for diabetes and “obesity” seem to be reinforcing each other in advertising every day. Food -Ozempic. Diet plans-food. There are no more cigarette commercials but there are still alcohol adds. Lots of soda and chip adds too. Talk of evolutionary impulses without genetic proof, sounds like evolutionary psychology? Where is the scientific data on “it was an instinct developed on the African planes”? By the way all that “African” mitochondrial dna in everybody, doesn’t that make us all African? How are genes proven to be connected to a geographic location? Are there Chinese genes? Antarctic genes? Certainly there can’t be any American genes? Did the dinosaurs have this mitochondrial DNA signature as well? Were dinosaurs all from “Africa”? What about fish? Science and social engineering seem to belong to a particularly spurious type of study. Think of Eugenics and the modern study of how to “engineer” diseases. I’m not worried so much about addictions as I am worried about government involvement with industry and science. An involvement that seems to be addicted to another one of those instincts evolved from the “African veldts”. The instinct of exploitation to insure survival. An instinct that no one seems to have the intelligence to recognize and discipline to control! Maybe scientists should be proposing solutions to stop businesses from making more money. That seems like a big addiction that causes massive harm. Think of the financial crisis in 2007, was it?

If you're addicted to anything about terrestrial existence, it will all be for nothing in the long run. EVERYTHING D13S. Therefore, if you don't learn to simply ignore physical existence, you'll never learn what lies beyond it. 🐲✨🐲✨🐲✨ "Before I start, I must see my end. Destination known, my mind's journey now begins. Upon my chariot, heart and soul's fate revealed. In time, all points converge; hope's strength, resteeled. But to earn final peace at the universe's endless refrain, we must see all in nothingness... before we start again." 🐲✨🐲✨🐲✨ --Diamond Dragons (series)

That and outdated AA treatment protocols that are not effective for today's drug addicts because they die before they reach the bottom.. expecting active addicts to make rational choices is an oxymoron because addiction is the inability to make rational choices... when society quits blaming the addicts and starts treating addicts we will have to take their choice away just as we would take the keys from a dementia patients or a drunk.
