Christopher Hitchens, the only man God was afraid of. As close to the intellectual leader Socrates imagined in his perfect society as mankind ever got. That said, Hitchens remaining an enigma for just a select group of intellectual connoisseurs is really a travesty of potential. His work and critical thought process should be elementary study in schools, as despite our growing secularism and technical advances we have failed to fill in the philosophical void left by the departure from religion. We don't grow our children in knowing how to think and what to believe in.... and that is where Hitchens' special flavor of presentation opens new doors. Kids wouldn't care for a reading of Voltaire, but they sure might appreciate an epic Hitchslap.

That Bill Maher show was a fucking disgrace. Constantly interupting him, to the point he has to start doing it back. I don't mind the other guests and Maher getting to voice their opinions or share facts, but that whole format was such a shitshow in the truest sense of the word. The moment somebody says something that goes against the consensus, it gets shut down. Anything "offensive". Anything out of line. That's not how you learn from each other, or allow the spectators to form their opinions thanks to the information and reasoning on display. That monkey brain reasoning they were doing is a waste of human potential, and only enforces already established consensus, promoting the status quo. You learn from each other by listening, even if most people disagree or get upset by what was said. You give the speaker a proper amont of time for them to formulate their point, share the opinion, display their reasoning. THEN you question it. Maher and the others besides Hitchens, and so many others I've seen or met, are so full of themselves. Laughs and are satisified with feeling right, instead of being right. Lucky for me I have a very immovable personality and I ignore it, cuz' that shit is just a waste of my and everybodys' time, everybody who wants to learn and improve.
