No one can "literally" be 20 years ahead of their time. How about "figuratively"?

If Hitch could rise today, he would haunt even more those who seek to install their prohibition on words. Well done Mr. Reality and Buon Natale!

Cancel Culture really started to take off once the giants of non-conformity started to pass away. Christopher Hitchens, George Carlin, Hunter S. Thompson, P.J. O'Rourke, etc. None of their successors have their level of _non-partisan_ respect.

Hitchens was a tedious bore, I've lost all respect for him at this point. He was starting to go the way of Glen Greenwald and if he had lived I'm pretty sure he would have become a complete right wing clown

@@roystonlodge If mean by non-partisan in the REP/DEM sense then I can agree. He had his causes that he was very adamant on.

He was crying about the fact that he couldn't smoke like a chimney on college campuses anymore. Just let that sink in: all this pompous rhetoric is nothing but him whining because he can't sit there lighting up while he drones on with his faux-witty stories he's told a hundred times

@@Tretas. I'm not "bothered by it". I could care less. And he died of throat cancer too, what a shock. Not that I'm glad about that but guess what, Hitchens didn't care about his health and he died 20 years too young. But that was his choice. All I'm saying is all this grandiose pompous rhetoric was just nothing but him being a [beep] and crying about it

I think Hitch here is a pessimist, I think we a fortunately moving towards legalisation of substances. When he talks about a Prohibitionist attitude he ignore the fact that witch burning and slavery both became prohibited. I believe we should care for one another but it should be done rationally and proportionally. I don’t think advice from Hitch on matters of how communities and their psychological wellbeing are run are very valid as he himself said “that he likes stress”. If you follow this chain of thought you get to Ayn Rand, which completely contradicts Hitchens belief in socialism.
