It's Nolan's film; ergo - it ought to be- his decision! People of course can excercise their own free will with regard to whether or not they go to the cinema to see it whilst the virus is still considered acute enough for lockdown. The notion that Chris Nolan is "encouraging" folk to go out to see his film thus risking their health is, frankly; ludicrous. People have minds of their own; they may wish to stay home or they may not - that's the choice of the individual. Nolan has directed this film and is adamant about it's release remaining as planned; that's his right! He's not forcing anybody to go to watch it. I find it incredibly patronising when these stupid things are said.....eg: A director releasing his film as scheduled whilst a virus is at large is responsible for encouraging people to risk their health. It's an insult to us all; as if we cannot be trusted to make our own decisions. It's also profoundly unfair putting the weight of responsibility upon Nolan's shoulders by suggesting that if someone gets sick from visiting a cinema because they went to see his film, it's his fault....absurd. Nolan's film: Nolan's right to release it when he damn well pleases. Film fans: Individuals with the option of going to see the film at the time of release knowing the current climate or choosing not too. It's not a hostage situation. Nobody has a gun to their head.

What should be and what is are two different things. Yes he SHOULD release it in cinema. Would be great, and I would pay the ticket. I feel what he's fighting for. But if cinemas aren't open will he hold the release date? He is one of the greatest today, but is not all-powerful--meaning if cinemas aren't open, it doesn't matter what should be

@ThePlaylistChief
@ThePlaylistChief 4 жыл бұрын
@@trayc2762 Well, for one, no matter what anyone says, it's Warner Bros. who will ultimately make the decision whether Tenet will open in July or not, not Nolan's. Nolan does not control WB, their marketing strategy or their release dates. So while he is a very important filmmaker to them and they want to make him happy, at the end of the day, it's not his call. Secondly, Nolan has not publicly said a thing, other than second hand info that he really wants for Tenet to make its July release date, and sure, that's not hard to believe. but REFUSES to postpone film suggests that a) he has the power to make that decision and b) he's willing to put people at risk regardless (he's not and even if he did, he's not in a position to do that. What the case really is, is that Nolan really does not want to move the July date for Tenet and essentially told WB, "let's not delay Tenet or take it off the release calendar. Let's leave it on the July date for as long as humanly possible in the HOPE that theaters will be ready to be open in time and WB has essentially agreed to that. FOR NOW. Everyone, is going to see how this all plays out. All they have done, essentially, is not pull a release date so far and doing so with their fingers crossed. That's absolutely it (also another factor, WB and Nolan could, for argument sake, definitely want to release the movie on July 17, but if theater chains aren't ready and or feeling they will put their audience and customers at risk, they simply won't open and Tenet won't have anywhere to be shown. So, the reality is, there's many, many factors at play and it's way more than just Nolan REFUSING to postpone his film and poor Warner Bros and the entire theatrical industrial complex at the mercy of his *selfish* decisions -- as this headline suggestions. That's not how it works. Even if he was a madman and in charge of WB, it's not just up to him.

@@ThePlaylistChief Hi, thank you for replying and I hope you're well. Please understand, I was not being confrontational rather just curious as to what you viewed as 'clickbait'.......That is to say; I wondered what I didn't know about this situation. So I appreciate your response but unsurprisingly; what you call 'clickbait' and innacurate is; in actuality, very accurate! Just use ones brain.........! You're pointing out stuff that you consider to be misleading. Do you think you're the only person capable of seeing shades of grey between the metaphorical black and white polarised viewpoints? I've left my personal thoughts already hours ago. I don't think you are judging this correctly; however - what a dull world it would be if we all had the same opinion. Unlike rudimentary mathematics wherby five plus five equals ten and that's irrefutable; this issue is, of course, entirely subjective. I do most genuinely appreciate you taking the time to respond to me: I guess we will agree to disagree. May I say that interacting with you has been a genuinely pleasant experience; rare also since oftentimes on KZbin, if one person views things in a manner that differs from another; It's combative, obnoxious and verbally obscene. So you're genuinely my hope for KZbin! Take care, stay well. Warmest wishes to you and love to everyone. Txx.

I understand his decision. Especially since things in the US are beginning to slowly open up. I’m sure when theaters open up again, the film will be in theaters longer because for one it’s a Nolan film and his films are films that people love to see on the big screen and if it stays in theaters longer than it will make more money for the studio.
@ProtestantsRUs
@ProtestantsRUs 4 жыл бұрын
No, actually. The longer a movie stays in theaters, the smaller a percentage of the ticket revenue the studio gets. Say week 1, studio gets 90% of ticket sales. Week 2, 85%, and so on. Theater space is expensive, and this is the deal theater chains and studios have in place. Now the question is, will COVID affect that at all?

"things in the US are beginning to slowly open up" *slowly* does not mean cinema, cinema is one of the later things you'd open up because it's a closed space with many people. If you'd want to speed the rate of infections, you'd open up cinemas.
