Love Plummers posh Canadian accent. As a Canadian, I can tell you that this an accent that we only hear in the occasional older man now. The “ quasi-british” hint over the last 40-50 years has completely vanished !!!

He is young here. Not quite age 40 yet, but near it. He's youthful looking. The longer hair suit him. Looks good on him. Handsome man. Great cheekbones. I recall seeing The Sound Of Music as an age 11/12 kid (for 50 cents) when it eventually came to the town movie house back in the day when there was a single film shown in the one movie house in most towns. I always liked him, but he was a bit pretentious, not overwhelmingly, but enough to be a turn off. It's all in the past. He had 91 years. 😊

"A great big Hollywood musical. Probably one of the last one we'll ever see" : Sound of Music came out in 1965, this interview was filmed in 71. Only six years apart but this quote is a testimony of the earth shattering impact of New Hollywood. The entirety of American cinema changed almost overnight. Sound of Music was released on the verge of the storm

@@jerrypark8395 Hi, Jerry.....I was trying to be light-hearted in my post... To be honest, I don't know how you can "see happiness all around " me, as I am very unhappy, been isolated for 4.5 years...except for hospital visits...nothing "social".... If I could , I would send you happiness... We just need to look for humour, kindness, beauty, ...there is such a lot of sadness in the world... I hope you are O.K. Stay positive...Best Wishes from England.

04 Aug.2022. Hi, Jerry, Yes I do indeed have a kind heart ! Always have...😊 It has received so many heartbreaking blows though, over decades, that I should by now be a crotchety old " Grump"! But I refuse to give in to total negativity....always looking out for hope, kindness, compassion, humour, beauty , always hoping to spread a little happiness.. somehow !! Corny , I guess , but it's all you have when so many factors , not of your doing😢, that are making huge difficulties... I am grateful to be able to share thoughts on " The Net" ... Sorry I can't do texts, I just write wherever I can, and see what others think. It's a safe way to put thoughts out there , and know that folk anywhere in the world are able to write back with their views. Best Wishes from " dry-as-a-chip "southern England.😢 ( Could you send some of your frequent rain showers down here please ?! They keep going too far north !! Our water is down to 8% , they say...) 🇬🇧😢💕🇬🇧🐕🌨️🌿🌎 🇬🇧

This is a true mid-atlantic accent. John Barrowman of Torchwood has a similar accent, but mainly because his natural accent is Scottish and I guess the American kids teased him, so he developed quasi-American accent with a British tinge. Brits invented the language and they still can't pronounce their Rs. Americans pronounce their Rs too much and Canadians typically do it just right. That's all the mid-atlantic accent is - just a very flat, Pacific Northwest American accent while omitting every R. I'm from the Pacific Northwest of Canada, and we're about the only people who get the language right. We all sound like we're on a high-dose combination of caffeine, SSRIs and methylphenidate - which is weird, given the amount of THC aroma that permeates the air here. We should sound like Pauly Shore in A Goofy Movie and Dennis Hopper in Easy Rider, but instead we're more like a John Barrowman/Michael J. Fox/Ryan Reynolds/Seth Rogen combination.

I love how Christopher Plummer mentioned that Trevor Howard was the best Petrucchio. Many including Olivier said the same. Trevor Howard and Christopher Plummer were such great actors. Interesting that Dick Cavett openly says that Mr. Howard was his favorite actor.
