Christopher, not only does your music sound absolutely fantastic, but it also has a noticeable effect on bringing attention to languages. I regularly see people learning languages you've used because they heard them represented in these masterpieces, especially Swahili. On this note, I think there are some languages which absolutely need a wider audience. The Quechuan languages have 10 million speakers across much of South America in the Andes. Classical Quechua was the language of the Incas. Despite this high speakership though, the languages are in decline. I think a language like Southern Quechua with 5million speakers would sound fantastic arranged in a beautiful piece. Guaraní is a co-official language alongside Spanish in Paraguay, even having more speakers than Spanish. It has 6.6 million speakers, but it's rarely discussed outside of the regions it's spoken. I think a part of that is how little attention Paraguay itself gets, there are even jokes about it being that country everyone forgets. Nivaclé has ~12,000 speakers and is also spoken in Paraguay. It is in sharp decline, as poor forestry management in the Gran Chaco is displacing many families. There are Nivaclé artists out there doing sets of art based around the Gran Chaco natural region and how human activity is effecting it. A song by you could absolutely bring this issue to a bigger audience. The Gran Chaco region is being damaged faster than many parts of the Amazon, but gets no attention. Both the Gran Chaco and the Nivaclé language are of vital importance to the health of the continent, and to the study of language. These are just ideas, love your work.

This soundtrack has me really enthralled I must say. I usually play grand strategy games like old world with a live stream or something on the second monitor, but this music just didn't let me put on everything else. Thank you for this great music.

Amazing. Even if I don't understand the lyrics at all, the song allows me to travel. What a good feeling, so peaceful, thanks for that :)

Christhoper Tin is a musical genious. I feel very sad that he is marginalized. Speaks more about our world, and less of him.

@Esphaeras Praestans You serious? his videos only get a few thousand views (for scale, a thousand views on KZbin is worth from 1-10$) which's no way to make a living on KZbin. and he's almost unknown despite his astounding works. I only know of him because of the breathtaking theme from CIV4. That's in comparison to famous musicians getting millions for singing about being rich and famous and cool. with the occasional mention of their genitals. and you know their name even if you don't listen to their music. mostly because news talks about their private lives 24/7.

What he lacks is a good publicist and talented manager. Unfortunately, these days it's much more about exposure than actual talent.

This is a loose translation, i tried my best :) life follows in every land you stay in, as if you are rain upon the many lands and the eye longs to your great sight, as if you are moons in the eyes of the people when we gathered/met and your virtues were apparent, over what my ear have heard my eyes saw you are my life and if i see you it's here, and if you are absent, my souls is absent from my body never god would sunset your faces from me, until my life is scented by you until eternity oh god, all of us, we ask you for forgiveness, and a great ending, you who is of wide generosity It's about love, friendship, possibly about a lover, family, friends,god or all of them. depends on how you want to hear it

Christopher, who is the poet?! and yes, I called them a poet not a songwriter. it's on par with the classical syrian music. I am a dimshqi myself and I highly appreciate this. haven't heard anything like this in a while.

Beautiful. It feels like the singer did it "straight" but I wouldn't mind if she insisted to sing quarter-tones
@AhmedHamdyAiad
@AhmedHamdyAiad 2 жыл бұрын
Arabic maqams do not necessarily have quarter-tones The maqam in this song is called higaz and this maqam usually have no quarter tones If she sang quarter tone here it would be called (jins rast) and this part rarely incorporated in maqm higaz scale in contemporary arabic music So that's why she did it "straight" Hope you find this easy to follow

I have purchased the game this week. But your songs are hardly played during the game. Because they added 155 other songs (and some very bad songs) to your 12 songs. No kidding! There are 167 songs in the in-game music player. The chance that you will hear a song from the original soundtrack by Christopher Tin is very, very small. I have deactivated all 155 other songs manually in the audio options menu.... that was hard work, but it was worth it 🙂

Other people think similarly. Here is a quote from a user review on GOG: "Music in old world is quite a letdown - random sad, church music. They havent hired anyone to make a music for this game (according to my knowledge)." The reviewer didn't even know that there is an official and very, very good soundtrack, because he probably heard many of the less good tracks while playing the game...

I don't understand the choice of arabic for the vocals. In the stage of the game's time period arabic was limited to a few scattered tribes in the desert while other civilizations were center stage.
