Is anyone else shocked that Artie made it through the series alive? Not only this, or going after Benny at his apartment, he once pulled a gun on Tony. Jesus that's one lucky fuck.

and the business with the brandy where he lost 50,000. Being Tony's lifelong friend was totally the sole reason he lived through all 6 seasons. Artie wasn't that bright, he didn't think about what his big mouth or actions might lead to.

Artie was such a well-written character: a man who should be happy (successful restaurant, good wife and family) but is consumed by insecurity and envy. Very well acted too.

If see the saints of Newark you will see Artie as a rebel. A real gangster wanna be. However his old man forced him to live an honest life and follow down his trade. @@Typhus1234 He thought he was a rebel. Til the 6th season, where he finally learned that being upper-middle class and having a respectable job that you can take pride in ain't so bad. Beats Tony, who had to keep his wife who he hated in luxury and constantly bitch to his capos to earn like Ralphie, a person he absolutely despised.

The thing that makes me laugh about Artie is he actually had a decent life and didn't even seem to realise it. A talented chef, his own restaurant, a hot wife. If he'd have acted his age a bit more he would have been very respectable.
@jorgeguerrero3455
@jorgeguerrero3455 3 жыл бұрын
Well, that's debatable; wife was hot but usually didn't dress up for him, she hardly repsected him and would bust his balls more often than not, she was bitchy especially with him. She was no model wife either, Tony had had her too. The restaurant? Paid the bills, didn't make him rich and HE was the business; without him there was no restaurant. Hot hostesses would only take advantage of his weakness for his desire for young hotties to exploit the hell out of him, rob him then spit on his face by dating young hoodlooms who would come into the restaurant like the hostess was on her lunch break when she was supposed to be working.
@JoeSmith-dl9ok
@JoeSmith-dl9ok 3 жыл бұрын
Jorge-Charmaine was hot as fuck, she just didn’t want him associating w mobsters, which is what led to most, if not all, of his problems. If you’re in the restaurant business you ARE the business, that’s how it goes. Artie wanted to play gangster, that’s where he fucked up
@jorgeguerrero3455
@jorgeguerrero3455 3 жыл бұрын
@@JoeSmith-dl9ok That's true... and yes she was hot, very hot, but she treated him like shit most of the time and didn't really dress hot for HIM, maybe for the business but that's very different. Goes without saying Artie was foolish in trying to fool around with young hot waitresses and hostesses right in front of her, that really didn't help his incel situation.

@@jorgeguerrero3455 she didn’t treat him like shit lmao. Charmaine is literally the most honest character in the whole show. She put a leash on Artie and saved him from getting in too deep with his mafia buddies, and guess what? At the end of the series the Buccos are still alive and intact while everyone around them were either dead or broken. Artie was lucky to have a wife like her, he could’ve easily married someone passive and greedy that didn’t actually care about him. I love Artie but he was dumb and didn’t appreciate how good he really had it.

Hesh, Chrissy, Bobby, Sil, Paulie, Artie, they are all either dead or estranged by the end but at least he has Patsy!! I don't understand the 214 likes. In my opinion, this comment is absurd. Tony didn't castrate Chris, he saved Artie's life by putting an end to the fight. "Go wait outside" meant "I will handle this, don't kill this clueless prick." He made it clear all the way through Artie's provocation that he doesn't approve of Artie's behavior. No way Chris interpreted the "Go wait outside" command as Tony siding with Artie.

Artie was Tony's only 100% genuine friend. He didn't want anything from Tony. He knew him for decades, but hardly ever made use of his position. The only thing he seemed to get out of it was a certain thrill from hanging with mobsters, but even that didn't really impress him. He was throwing cold cuts at Tony like they were kids. I think for Tony, his friendship with Artie could allow him to feel more normal, like just a regular businessman. Similarly, Tony never treated anything Artie did as having an ulterior motive. He didn't point the gun at him to play some power game, he did it because he was so angry and understandably felt a little powerless against a mob boss. Richie Aprile could make a passive aggressive joke and it would infuriate Tony, whereas Artie could do some really stupid stuff, and it might piss Tony off, but it was the problems that you have with a close friend who is sometimes a little crazy, and nothing more.

I'm referring to his acting chops. He was fantastic in this role...whatever personal issues he had didn't necessarily impact what his final performance ended up being on screen. By "setting the tone" I am stating that he placed a great deal of attention to his craft and we saw it play out on the other actors on the show. Regarding his personal issues: A lot of actors have issues on and off the set - those issues don't do a thing in changing the perspective of a GOOD performance when it is GOOD. Do you disagree? And whether he got "paid nicely" or not is irrelevant...... Do you have a personal beef with the man? Because it sounds like you do. Diminishing his accomplishments on the show by stating that "lots of guys could have played that part" is you removing what was special about how he acted IN THE PART (which was the sole reason for my post). It's fine if you disagree on how great his acting was - you have every right to disagree....but what do the things you bring up have to do with the way his performance ended up being? Paid nicely - ya ok....that's great for him - but what does $ have to do with anything? lots of guys could have played that part - "coulda, shoulda, woulda" - this a hypothetical and holds no bearing here because we will never know how. Drug benders leaving the crew waiting for a week - so he was unprofessional, he's not the first and won't be the last...are you free of any issues? Again - what do any of the three points you mentioned have to do with Gandolfini's great acting?????

Tony tries to keep Chris calm before he lashes out on Artie....very subtle but it's the little details like that makes every scene great thus the entire series epic

David Dimalanta. well they call it breakin ballz,but nothing good ever seems to come from it,why dont they come out and say what it really is... fucking running your mouth to see how far u can push another man,then when the other guy snaps and tries to kill you,other guy seems surprised.

If someone breaks your balls and you don't do it back, they'll lose respect for you. But if you break their balls too hard they hit you in the face with a bottle. You gotta be a fucking ball breaker virtuoso to get it right.

Did you hear what I told him? I says, "Do you remember your first blow job?" He says, "Yeah." I says, "How long did it take the guy to cum?"

Artie was asking for it. I felt pretty bad for Chris at this scene.

Imperiolo was awesome here. He played a helluva restrained beast in this scene. He looked like he was ready to snatch Artie's wind pipe straight out of his throat bare-handed, Kal Drogo style
