16:30 Its a common myth, its not exactly that your beard and nails grows after you die, what happens is that your skin start to decay so your hair pop up and feels like it grows, same with the nails

Partially. The proteins in your skin that makes it elastic decay first, resulting in your skin just going permanently tight and rigid, pulling back. Dehydration and underlying muscle decay also contribute. The end result is the skin pulls down and away, so you end up with the apprarance of "growth"

My interpretation of the intro is that its Christopher's guilty conscience screaming at him to change via dreams but he just doesn't understand it. Which is why he spends the whole episode searching for meaning. As a result the stress and mental burden takes a toll on him physically as well. Christopher's talk with Paulie is a really good scene. Christopher was born into this lifestyle and its all he knows. So he spends his life doing everything he can to build an identity for himself within the mob. And yet no matter what he does, he doesn't gain any recognition nor any sense of identity. Only thing he gets is nightmares, which as I said represents his guilty conscience. It makes him question "is there any purpose to this?" Pussy's line of "just keep doing it (murder) and it'll go away" is priceless. Yup that's definitely the line of thinking with sociopaths. For these people they've gotten to this point that they don't think twice about what they do like its normal regular behavior. The fact that Christopher is even having any sort of conflict about this means its not too late for him. The car scene between Christopher and Tony is equally hilarious and sad. Christopher is struggling to understand the basic fact he is feeling depressed and having an existential crisis, which he describes as "I can't take the regularness of life." Tony understands what Christopher is saying, but can't say it. The concept of expressing human emotions and being vulnerable to them is so foreign lol. The toxic masculinity of the mob culture won't allow them to just be open with their feelings. Thus they end up resorting to just laughing and making fun of it.

About the dead guy's hair growth and stuff, with Beards and hair I got no clue but I remember hearing that when you die, certain things don't decay all at once. So your nails end up looking longer than when you were buried since the skin surrounding your nails decays away which makes your nails look longer. Grim lol

Michael Imperioli plays Christopher but he also played Spider in Goodfellas, Tommy originally shot Spider in the foot, so Christopher shooting that guy in the foot then saying “it happens” was always a fun reference for me
