I loved Frances Fisher as Titus' mom but I don't think she got the insanity down as well as Christine Estabrook did in Season 1.
@Panwere362 жыл бұрын
I agree to a point, however, Frances Fisher does well in capturing the side of Juanita that was all the good things that his mother was. Sadly, the abusive boyfriend she "dealt with" the way she did most likely insured her untimely death.

@@Panwere36 Still better than the Connie Francis take on her, which played up her mental illness like she was this misunderstood superheroine, though I did like the episode where Titus thinks Juanita escaped from the mental hospital and killed someone, only for Titus to learn that she committed suicide in Missouri.

I thought it was showing the reason why she had a psychotic episode (at least the first two times): "harm to others" was because Ken dumped cereal on his son's head and "harm to self" was because Ken insulted her hair (and, considering how she used to be a beauty pageant contestant, she probably flipped out over her appearance many times).

I always loved the whole cast, but you knew what to expect from Christopher & Ken, because of his stand-up. Tommy was always the "opposite day" of Titus. I think the Official reason was because Estabrook was cast as Nikki Cox's mother in law on her short lived sitcom on (what used to be) The WB in 2000; Sometimes actors are too busy with other things to do other things--same might've been the case when Connie Stevens took over for Frances Fisher in Season 3.

The Dr. says they have all of the information where she tried and killed Kenneth in the past, and yet, they want to release her. This show is a comedy, but they do this far too much in real life. Thankfully, no one from my immediate family was ever incarcerated. My father's mother was often sent to the mental wing of the hospitals she was in because she often had minor depressions. But in her defense, she's bi-polar. She never was a threat to anyone or herself, she just has a lot of ups and downs. And my father is no help. Similar to Titus, I remember being a kid and eating supper with my grandmother at our place because she was in another depression, and my father would yell at her. I had never seen this before, a kid yelling at his parent. I remember that it hurt me (emotionally I mean) so bad, that when he was taking a breather, I told to listen to his mother. I'm proud I did that. I was either not in kindergarten yet, or I had just started, and I told him that. But then of course he turns his attention to me, and yells at me, I don't listen to my mother. You can say that my mental issue is pigheadedness. I've thrown this memory in my dad's face so much in 30 years, I've lost count. Nobody's perfect.

As someone who grew up with a schizophrenic guardian, the scenes of the mother an abusive spouse hits way too close to home. It's honestly quite tragic how often it happens, and even more heartbreaking just how much damage is healed once you remove the abusive spouse from the equation. ….They stopped drinking, smoking, taking medication regularly as soon as their spouse was sent to prison. Really shows just how much damage one person can have on another.

My dad is schizophrenic. He isnt abusive but is completely insane. He is obsessed with God and the Bible to the point that is all he will talk about and do. He says there is nothing wrong with him and it is angles and demons that talk to him and that us why no one else can here them. The guy is so removed from reality he can't tell you about a single thing going on in the world today. Its like after the early 2000s he dosnt know a single thing about the world. He thinks cd players are ground breaking technology. It's very deficult to talk to him considering he doesn't want to talk about anything but god
