Really a very enjoyable video. I look forward to watching more! As mentioned below, the drone footage is not too much, but really adds to the content. We have all seen these kinds of pictures of Iceland, but yours are excellent and beautiful, too. Your positive and intelligent personality also comes through in a very good way. So congratulations, and do more.

Thank you for the kind words. I think drone footage works best when it is used sparsely in order to complement the rest of the video. It's interesting to show a different point of view from the air though.

The classic shot of Seljalandsfoss! Even thought it's a photo you see from many photographers, I't is still very striking. I hink this is also the location where you had the best light to work with which really paid off. Well captured!
@ChristopheVanBiesen7 жыл бұрын
Yeah I love to capture those classic views for myself. There will be lots of those in this video series. :-) And yes, the light was great. Golden hour is always a good time and we were lucky there, the sun was out. In the morning it was still quite grey and cloudy, and during the day, I tried to avoid shooting the sky, as you can see from the pictures at Skogafoss. That first day was really sunny. Day 2 is a whole other story. :-D
@alextsogias92197 жыл бұрын
I agree, there is normally a very good reason why these locations are so popular! :-) Unfortunately it's always up to the weather in these locations. I spent one week in Lofoten this May, and had only one day with good weather/light to catch the classic shots. Have a look if you want: 500px.com/kungkokos. Had Iceland scheduled for next year but changed location to the Dolomites (next Sept.) since I'm only able to travel "off season". Hoping for better condiitons there :-)

Amazing video indeed. May I know which wide angle lens you recommend for such shoots.
@ChristopheVanBiesen7 жыл бұрын
Thank you. Glad you like the video. For the wide angle lens, I am using the Fuji 10-24mm (there is a link in the description of the video). But depending on your camera, any wide angle lens will do the job, as long as it is wide enough. On Canon, I am using the 17-40mm a lot.

Hello Christopher, Nice montage and the quality of it is amazing. I have a XT2 but I am still debating on the post process software -:[ not happy with LR and the RAF file. Are you using a software for your raw pictures or are they straight out jpeg ? Thanks Stef
@ChristopheVanBiesen7 жыл бұрын
Hi Stephane. Thanks, glad you like the video. I work directly in LR with the RAF files, but I do not do any heavy editing, mostly shadows, highlights, WB. I switch to PS when I have to do more extensive editing. Happy holidays

Which lense did you use the most? Which one to take with me as my only one lense solution for my xt2?
@KGi47 жыл бұрын
So how did xt-2 stranded by Icelandic arctic weather? its best place to test weather sealing :) After being in freezing wind, rain, sand dust... ? Cuz it has weather sealing up to -10. I wonder if it keeps up same as dslr which made for mass production and extreme weather ( i own d7000 with weather sealed lenses and thinking about xt-2). Thx in advance :)
@ChristopheVanBiesen7 жыл бұрын
Well, I did not get any temperatures below 0°C in Iceland, but I recently tested it here at home visiting a castle in Luxembourg on a very snowy day, and it performed just fine. I did not have any problems with it in Iceland while going behind some of the waterfalls and getting everything wet. The 10-24 I am using is not weather resistant, so I try to protect it as much as I can (as you've probably seen in the video). All in all, I feel it performs just as well as any Canon I owned previously. (Although I still have to test it in extreme cold or heat)
@markopanger4127 жыл бұрын
Christophe, what lens was you most used lens on the Iceland trip. IS this more of a super wide angle towards 10mm or is more of 23mm thing ?
@ChristopheVanBiesen7 жыл бұрын
Hi Marko. I probably had the 10-24 most time on the camera. Although I made my favourite pictures with the 55-200. Have a look at the what's in my bag video from Iceland on my channel to get more information on my kit. Cheers
@hawthornewipe7 жыл бұрын
Yeah that waterfall is pretty wet from behind. I took a shot with A6000 and Samyang 12mm from there and camera still worked after xD

I've been watching all of your stuff now and normally i don't watch youtube at all... but, you made things very clear for me. I want to change my 5d mark 3 for the fuji xt-2 but im just a bit scared. Can i ask what tripod you use and how you end up with no raindrops at all on your photo at the waterfall? Thank you very much!
@ChristopheVanBiesen7 жыл бұрын
Well thank you for watching! Glad you enjoyed the videos. Changing camera really depends on your needs. The 5D Mark III is a great camera, so is the Fuji X-T2. I am using a Sirui tripod (there is a link in the description of the video). As for the water drops, it's no secret: constant wiping of the lens and filters. ;-)
@volkerjansen39017 жыл бұрын
Hey Christophe, very very nice video! Awesome surprise at the end :) The drone footage was cool as well, especially the geysir from above and going over the waterfall. And the photos looked amazing. Really well rounded video, nicely done! One question: Are you happy with the NiSi filter system? Did you experience any problems at 10mm on the 10-24?
@ChristopheVanBiesen7 жыл бұрын
Hey Volker. Thanks. I am glad you enjoyed the video. It was a lot of work! But I had a lot of fun filming and editing. :-) Concerning the NiSi filters: I love them, although they have some little quirks. The glass is amazing, but I sometimes struggle with the small metal rings (especially in the cold). But, thanks to the intelligent design of the filter holder, there is no vignetting on the 10-24 at 10mm. The 1st picture of Seljalandsfoss (at the end of the video) was taken at 10mm with the polariser and the 6-stop ND.

Hi, this is the first time I have seen one of your videos. Well done! Great drone footage and photos were awesome! I'm a big fan of my X-T2. Just one question. Have you noticed a difference in the quality of shots moving away from your 5Dmk3?
@ChristopheVanBiesen7 жыл бұрын
Hi there. Thanks! Glad you found my channel then. ;-) Picture quality on the X-T2 is very comparable to the 5D Mark III and I could not find any major differences. Noise performance is even better on the X-T2 and shadows can be pushed more without introducing too much noise. I only noticed that highlights are less recoverable than with the 5D3, so I tend to shoot slightly underexposed with the XT2. I made another video where I discuss switching systems in case you want to hear more about it: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rXnPdHuEe9VlnNE
