I love Christy. I was sitting in the front of a transit van, crossing Dublin City centre, on a Friday evening, back in 1999. It was after 6 o'c, dark, and I was exhausted. I was a labourer, and had spent the week attending two plasterers from Co Derry. The radio was on, and on came Christy singing "Welcome to the Caberet" It blew me out of the water. I was 18 and had never heard it before. It was fast, funny, Irish and for me, it was the beginning of a love affair with Christys music. The following morning (Saturday) I went into Cavan Town and bought my first copy of "Christy Live at the Point". Christy has introduced me (through his music) to artists and songs I otherwise, probably, would never have heard. Songs that come to mind - The Lonesome Death of Hattie Carroll, I Pity The Poor Immigrant, Victor Jara, Viva La Quenta Brigada, The Voyage, I could go on for an hour. I ended up buying about 8 copies of "Live At The point" as I kept lending it to others. And it wouldn't be returned. I wanted others to hear Christy sing. I bought my last copy of the CD "Live At The Point", about 10 years ago, in HMV on Patrick's Street in Cork and I have never opened it. I vowed that I will keep this copy, unopened, until my time in this life is over.

How many innocent Irish women and children starved while the Brits exported food *from* Ireland, and confiscated food from aid ships sent to Ireland from other countries, because the Brits believed Catholic Irish were vermin? How many people in India, Africa, and other countries were killed because the British aristocracy believed they were superior to other people?
