This needs to be updated. The route from Cityhall to Stampede Station has changed so drastically within four years. It makes me weep a little. XD

I believe that the Red Line was the longest transit line (34km) in Canada before the opening of Vaungh extension on Line 1 of Toronto last year. C-train is a somehow underrated system I would say.

Do you have any of the C-Train in real time? I would love a leisurely ride through my old home town.
@chrisvazquez76 жыл бұрын
cbdsw Yes check my channel page, I have playlists of both C-Train lines on there, as well as 3 SkyTrain lines, 2 Edmonton LRT lines, and 1 Toronto Subway Line.

no I like it on road level since Calgary dosent have trams or trolleys like at heritage park so that's kind of like our tram/trolley for Calgary
@GsunnyGGamer6 жыл бұрын
I can't stand it on the surface. True metro transit should never even touch the road. The countless accidents and pedestrian deaths is why it should have been buried long ago plus the stations are poorly heated. Every other day the schedule is delayed. They should build a tram in the beltline but mass moving transit on surface is a disgrace.

Actually it was supposed to be when they were gonna, then they scraped the idea for unknown reasons, I honestly prefer it as it is now.

Its on the ground because the ctrain is free to use downtown, its to transport people in downtown so they don't have to walk

@dustin43 жыл бұрын
what do you mean. THEY ARE TRAIN STATIONS.
@Mayhem_55553 жыл бұрын
@@dustin4 I'm aware of that, the reason why I said they looked weird, it's because Edmonton's LRT stations are all centre platforms, while Calgary has some two sided platforms.

Excellent video - how did you manage to ride in the control cab at the front of the train?
@forgottenfamily5 жыл бұрын
So I can't speak for the creator of how he did it but at the end of the line, the driver has to switch ends so you can probably take that opportunity to negotiate it. Judging from a reflection in one of the other videos, I don't think he rode in the control cab so much as his camera did which probably triggers fewer concerns from drivers.
@feralcatbrothers4 жыл бұрын
@@forgottenfamily Sounds reasonable. I'm planning on attending the Calgary FanExpo this April and will be riding this train a lot from the Centre Street station to the Victoria Park/Stampede station (and back of course). I know there's a new library building over the depressed area just past the City Hall station; it ought to be an interesting ride (and a great Expo too). Thanks for writing.

Feral Cat Brothers In his own words from other C-Train videos, and from being a frequent C-Train goer myself, 3 of the 4 train types have large windows from the passenger saloon to the operator cockpit. In other videos he has confirmed that he used his phone to film through the windows.

Why not make the downtown portion underground ?
@joncalon75084 жыл бұрын
Cost primarily. Edmonton went underground with theirs and the system they have is but a fraction of what Calgary has. Eventually, the Red Line will be moved under 8th Avenue but the Blue line will remain on the surface. Currently, the two lines share the 7th Avenue corridor, but prior to COVID, they were bumping into capacity issues downtown with trains on nearly every block. To bury the Red Line will cost upwards of 800M-1B dollars, so it's going to be a while yet before we see that sort of commitment, especially given the needs of the Green Line to go further north and south.
@abpsd733 жыл бұрын
There was a plan to have it underground downtown, but the cost was too high. On the south tunnel (City Hall to Victoria Park) at the north end, there is actually a short turnout where the line would have traveled under city hall. City hall was built with the intention of having an underground train station.
