Very nice video- straight to the point and super informative. Never thought about the drying process first before placing the cleaned filter back in the hot tub! Well done.

I fill a bucket with water and spin the filter until it stops making the water dirty. Works pretty well. Put it on a broom handle between 2 chairs and hit it diagonally. Filter will spin on broom handle, makes it easy to clean.

This is GREAT information! Thank you so much...I do have 1 question though...you recommend to swap out filters with clean ones during a deep clean....how many uses can you get from each filter if you're rotating them? Will it be visible when to throw them away because they're bad?
@ChrisWheatley Жыл бұрын
in general a filter lasts a year so if you are rotating them out every 3 months they should be good for 2 years

I have 2 filters but the filter I've cleaned doesn't dry well on a shelf in house. Last time, after being cleaned to a nice white, it even began getting yellow spots on it so I had to soak and clean it again. Other ideas for getting it dry? Tried letting it dry hanging outdoors but we live on a farm/ranch and have lots of wind so it ended up dirty.

I’m just gonna use a combo of stain and scale control, enhanced shock, and chlorinating concentrate, ‘bout a tablespoon each in hot water. Just seems intuitively right. I got the stuff already & too lazy n cheap to go get something else.

What about the micro filter that goes on the inside of the Filter
@ChrisWheatley2 жыл бұрын
Depends, if you mean the gimmicky pre filter forget it they do nothing if you mean like a minerasal ion core then it helps kill living organics which can reduce chlorine use.

Bill, question for you. Based on your recommendation for Spa Marvel products I ordered the complete system from HTU. I have a brand new hot tub that I set up about a week ago and followed all the instructions. My question is that I can’t get any bromine readings on any of my test kits/strips-I have tried several different ones and they are all in date. I added the bromine starter packet appropriate for my size tub before checking the readings and then waited a day and checked again. So not Bromine registering. I added a little more Bromine starter and opened up my bromine tablet opener even more but I am still not getting any Bromine readings. Does Spa Marvel affect the readings I should be getting or does it take longer? The water feels great and is crystal clear. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Greg
@ChrisWheatley3 жыл бұрын
Hey Greg. It's hard to get the sanitizer to register because we use such small amounts with Spa Marvel. If the water is clear keep your dispenser set as it is and if you notice any cloudiness that shock doesn't clear open it a tiny bit until it clears. You'll find that perfect setting before long. I don't even check sanitizer levels on my test strips and my water is always crystal clear

Engineers and mechanics will tell you to flush on the opposite direction of the normal flow. Not at a 45 degree angle. Flushing at any angle from outside in will drive contaminants back into the filter.

Hi there! I bought a hot tub on Facebook marketplace (bad idea-- as I have now learned.....) and the filter i am using is the white with light blue on top and bottom (Folbur?). The top of the filter does not have a lid. I'm not sure if it is supposed to? The water is suctioning through the top hole of the filter (it looks like a tornado-like suction)… and I'm thinking its going through the top/middle of the filter, through the tubes, and then out of the jet at the bottom of the hot tub. That doesn't seem like it is filtering the way it is supposed to? I'm happy to send a video via email. No hot tub store in the area will help me since I didn't buy my spa from them. Please help!

The hot tub companies make a big deal about all the relaxation you're going to enjoy, while making almost no mention of the time and effort, not to mention cost, of setting up, maintaining and treating and heating them. I reckon the faff to relax ratio is around 10:1!

I bet it has a circ pump! They are notorious for not having enough power to pull water through a dirty filter. All the more reason to keep them clean

How in the world would filter cleaner "open up the fibers so dirt can escape"!? I'd love to hear the science of this! I think filter cleaners just breaks down the oils allowing these oils to leave the filter. Prove me wrong!
@ChrisWheatley3 жыл бұрын
If you look at filter fabric through a microscope, you will see thousands of fiber strands that are very close together and overlapping in all different directions. With a good quality filter cleaner the cleaner will cause the fabric of the filter to expand which means that the fibres have more space between them. Then any dirt or particles that are trapped in the fibres are released into the water. When the filter dries, the filter material contracts again “closing up” the gap between the strands. We could have worded it differently to make it more clear but we try to keep things simple
