Kuroro is probably up there too , he wasn't demonstrated to have great knowledge but it implies that he reads and love books too . there is netero , but there is no indication about him having great knowledge he's more like Street Smart . not counting the ants since they are abnormalities otherwise Poof will be up there with Ging and kurapika , and Mermeum will be of charts even though he probably doesn't have a lot of knowledge but he can probably learn everything in like 10 days

Chrollo needs to shake the mindset that the Spider will continue without him, or the Troupe is doomed. His main flaw is that he can't actually read the Spiders very well. He gave Hisoka special treatment to move around Yorknew, and Hisoka betrayed him to Kurapika. He trusted Hisoka's fortune to not be tampered, and Hisoka played him AGAIN. Paku sacrificed herself to save him, because the "replaceable head" philosophy Chrollo instilled into the Troupe only stuck to Phinks and Feitan, the most brutal and sick-minded of the group. After the memory bomb, even those two seemed to have cooled off on the idea. Everyone else values Chrollo over the Spider. Even after all the proof he got of that in Yorknew, he's still completely convinced they'd be fine without him. Until he stops thinking that, he's just damning his friends.

@@ExtraOtter Did you notice he's kinda drawn like his child self in a couple of panels? Maybe it's a subtle hint at just how far he's starting to regress. Compare that to Morena looking less demonic, more comfortable, and human in a few panels last chapter, as her goal is coming to fruition. She also got the new, detailed headshot to show that she's still an abomination in human skin, but we're getting to see more sides of the big players this arc, and I'm really enjoying it.

Theory: Skill Hunter gives Chrollo instructions on what to steal in order to reach the next level of the ability. It also provides details about the heist, which explains how Chrollo knows details about the succession war treasures. If Chrollo manages to complete the heist, Skill Hunter gets upgraded and so does Chrollo's nen. That's how he managed to get the "book mark". I guess the next upgrade will limit the conditions needed to steal an ability.

Given the insane abilities that the prince's possess, Chrollo as at the greatest place he could ever be at. Stealing just some of theri abilities would make him the strongest Nen User in the world. But it's also a very dangerous one. Your theory is really compelling, I don't thinks it is exactly how it works, because that would give Chrollo just too much of an advantage, but you might be close. Haven't heard that theory at all before. Great work coming up with it.

There has to be certain limitations, for example he cant share details with the phantom troup members. In case the heist fails, a condition is added in order to steal a new ability, making it more difficult to steal nen. I also think kuruta eyes heist might have been instructed by skill hunter. The more difficult the heist, the stronger skill hunter gets

I feel you are one of the few creators I watch who actually picks up on all the small details and has actual media literacy. I find so many creators are quick to create massive theories that completely contradict the themes and narrative that is being setup, or just constantly mispronounce names of characters. I know its unrelated to this chapter, but I have a pet theory with Tserriednich. I think he is the Netro baby, and I think one of the two curses that Beyond placed on his other kids transfers a small portion of their knowledge and experience to Tserriednich, which is how he is able to learn so quickly. It would be A) Difficult to safely place on a newborn, B) Requires sacrifices in order to activate the benefits C) Involves the direct, biological siblings of the recipient, and D) How much experience Tserriednich receives will be contingent upon how far his sibling developed their Nen. Those are some serious restrictions, which could explain how the curses are so powerful.

@@metachirality Im not as sure about that. IIRC one of the conditions for the secession contest is that they have to be legal children of the Queens. It could just be that Beyond's traits are more dominant than Unma's? As an aside: I think some other conditions for the curse effects could be that benefits only activate both during the contest and at the location of it. Those restrictions would mean that the ability could fail outright. (e.g. Tserriednich could decide not to participate. One of the Beyond babies could be stationed as a border guard while everything goes down on Black Whale, ect).

My prediction is that Pariston is the Kakin leak for Hisoka, Chrollo, or maybe both. His connection to Beyond means that he could have access to that information since Nasubi and Beyond were big chilling together. Creating chaos and threatening the war might be in the Beyond faction's interest, and it just seems like a Pariston thing to do. If it isn't Pariston I think it'll at least have to with with Beyond.

Personal Hipfire Thoughts: The statue relic is overwhelmingly likely to be responsible for the mass of dark hands containing the boundaries of the succession contest. I believe its name may be alluding to a karmic-style system of how this contest works, I think the Nen beasts are specifically prior participants in the contests at this point because I think the dark hands represent a fraction of the sacrifices and the nen beasts represent a fraction of the participants. I believe the sword can control life and death and is the only means of unfuckening the fundamental rules of the succession war. Nasubi was likely stating very literally that he cannot in any way die until the contest fully concludes. I feel less confident about the spirit of the first king possessing Nasubi and other contest winners, but if that ends up being true it is likely a direct result of the sword (I'd say it's below a 50% chance). I think the sword contains the souls of the prior kings and that either Nasubi himself or the winner will be slain by that blade (likely Nasubi). The winner being slain by it is much more viable IF the soul of the first king is possessing his descendants. I also think that having been a winner of a succession war ever means that the blade can pass judgment on someone if they fail to enact the next ritual for any reason, and that the soul of the winner will ultimately be committed to the sword because they gave blood to the urn, officially entering the contest. Ultimately the contest eats and recycles every soul that interacts with it if I'm right on the prior stuff. I do think the blade holds an answer to ending the cycle, probably through some kind of "absolute" exorcism capability or something, but if it doesn't this seems SUPER dark-continenty and ominous.

That is what is worthy of awe ... my design of the spiders" I find it interesting that Chrollo says this line adjacent to the discussion of Kakin's nen ritual. Nen is all about restrictions and conditions, and it follows that the ultimate thing an individual can wager is their own life. That's why the more complex nen systems in the story such as Greed Island and the Succession Ceremony that take place over time with groups of people can have even more powerful nen than an individual (such as the Breath of Archangel in GI) I wonder if Chrollo's line about the spider right next to the Kakin nen ritual is a hint that Chrollo is trying to make a nen system using the spiders, beyond the spider just being a group of people. Perhaps something will activate when the head of the spider dies, or maybe skillhunter is tied to the spider in some way.

I can't help but wonder if Chrollo has used the National Treasure upgrade condition before all of this, for either his bookmark or the book itself. In a grotesque way the Kurta eyes are "nen artifacts" too... I find it thematically appropriate Togashi's chosen to revisit Kurapika and the troupe's storylines through this tale of familial succession. Kurapika and Chrollo have both always been enslaved by their own lineage/ideals, and Chrollo is clearly considering retiring the spider throne to an heir of his own design (though it's not so apparent whom he has in mind). I'm questioning if Chrollo is aware of the Hei-Ly's (all but confirmed) connections to the meteor city snuff films; I'd imagine crushing them would take priority over even Hisoka if he was. That, or part of his master plan is to sic Kurapika on them. Either way a whole lot of big names are about to converge on tier one and Togashi is cooking with gas!

I think Nobunaga just physically made a half-baked sword, if it was Conjured he could just deactivate it or use In on it, no point making a big deal out of it being visible. About Chrollo's informant, I don't know about the treasure, but it's possible he got the knowledge of the Succession Contest through Illumi and Kalluto who are around Mizai (either Mizai explained it to them to avoid complications or Kalluto used his ability to spy on Mizai while he talked with other Zodiacs and Kakin officials), then may have connected the dots to the treasures he already knew about from other sources. But it could be anything else of course.

While I do think that the ability Chrollo is looking for is one we haven't see yet. Depending on what exact criteria he put into the phone and assuming he is aiming for a double KO(which i think is a sure thing). If he input say "ability that kills user and target" then out of the abilities that we know are on the boat we have three options, Which Camilla is the most likely candidate. 1: Cammy(self explanatory) 2: The Have-Nots(Least likely Chrollo probably added "kill immediately" to his criteria and wants something he can use right away and not a curse with a long windup) 3: Kurapika(Longest of long shots. He has Chain jail which kills the user if used on a non-spider and Judgement Chain which crushes the heart of the target when they break a set rule) The Kurapika option depends on a lot we don't know like what exact criteria did Chrollo enter and does the phone and skill hunter consider all of kurapika's chains one ability or are they five individual abilities. While I don't think Kurapika is the target I just can't get the idea that Chrollo will steal and use the abilities of someone whose designed them to kill the Phantom Troupe out of my head. Chrollo did say that delving into the darkness in the hearts of others was the true joy of Skill Hunter after all. God I love this arc every chapter in this batch is a feast.

Just wanted to mention: the version that I read said that stealing the sacred treasures would allow chrollo to 'evolve' his skill hunter. Maybe its cuz of all of the Jojo references in this arc (with Halkenburg's nen beast mirroring Jotaro and Hinrigh's hatsu mimicking Golden Experience), but the term 'evolution' through the use of an artifact kinda reminds me of Jojo's Golden Arrow, where getting pierced by it after unlocking a stand would evolve the stand to a 'requiem' form where it obtains an absolutely broken ability that is perfectly complemental to what your greatest desire is at that moment.

I think that the Hei-Ly have a member that can teleport non nen users, so they dont need to necessarly lure them to interviews, they can teleport people to the processing unit in a lot of ways. Also, if Morena is manipulating Kaizer, then their hideout is probably in the justice bureau or theres a hidden entrance there. The button Kaizer told the other character to press might be an alarm to the Hei-Ly or a way to destroy evidence of the mafia. Also, if Kaizer helped Hisoka enter tier 1, he could probably be Morena's trump card against the troupe

I personally think that the treasure Chrollo wants to steal is not specifically linked to a "rare ability" but rather that stealing treasure is a condition for more pages to be added to Skill Hunter, thus making Chrollo able to hold more abilities.

interesting point, it could be that you also need to steal treasures to add pages as you say but chrollo saying "I need to steal something comparable to a national treasure to store that rare and powerful ability in my book before the "usual" activation conditions" i think this is decisive evidence that the treasure needs to worthy of the power, but who knows he could have a backup plan to find many powers in case he doesn't find the rare one, I think he'd definitely tho.

Before fighting Hisoka he pulled the biggest bullshit in the form of the Bookmark Theme, so he needs to have a condition to get those upgrades. Being able to upgrade the book depending on Heists is perfectly in character to him and the Troupe and also makes their behaviour such as in the Auction Heist makes more sense. If every heist adds a page and every time he breaks his record of stealing he remove his limitations, then it adds up to the absolute powerful Hatsu that is Skill Hunter. Also, i think this heist is a lot bigger than the previous one that theoretically got him Bookmark, so imagine how big this upgrade will be.

Dude, we know where the treasures are and who protects them, it was leaked today. The seed Urn is in Tier 1, it's protected by Zepille, he made a fake of it in the auction arc, now he is protecting the original. The Buddha is being protected by Tonpa in a secret room of the Ministry of Justice in Tier 2, there is no doubt that it is the most difficult to obtain since the Buddha guards the exit barrier of the ship. Finally the sword is protected by Milluki in the back of the McDonald's in Tier 2. What a masterpiece Togashi is cooking 10/10.

I think that Chrollo is trying to level up bandit’s secret with post mortem nen so that he regain access to dead people’s abilities. Specifically dead troupe members like Shalnark and Kortopi. It would make sense to sacrifice a post mortem nen item like the seed urn to gain post mortem nen properties for stolen abilities. We know that the original user of Sun and Moon is dead and the ability remains in his book, so maybe he could sacrifice those items to regain access to gallery fake and black voice. When he’s talking about clearing the usual restrictions it could mean clearing the restrictions to use the bookmark so he can use a post mortem gallery fake. Post mortem black voice would also be much stronger since he can keep an antenna on him at all times. Plus, it would make a lot of sense character wise to try and preserve the abilities of his friends, and it would mean he could use the same strategy to beat Hisoka.

But it could mean that clones created by gallery fake would be permanent once he switched to a new ability, rather than only becoming permanent when marked with sun and moon. Since gallery fake requires two hands this wouldn't change much, only increasing the speed at which chrollo could create clones since he didn't need to make them with sun and moon. Black voice on the other hand would be incredibly powerful if it had post mortem nen properties. If chrollo could use a black voice antenna on a target, give an order, then close his book with black voice still remaining, then it would mean chrollo could use the 2nd antenna with potentially two other abilities active. Lets say he had order stamp activated to command an army of clones, and he used the left hand of convert hands to disguise himself as a clone. I figured he actually crafted that sword, definitely using Nen but I don’t think it was entirely conjuration (maybe a little bit where he can transform materials into a completed product or a shoddy sword into a better one). Since Chrollo called while at the arena, it would naturally not be an ability he had at that exact moment. So no reason to find someone with a manipulation ability, or cloning ability. Depending on when he lost the future reading ability it might be related. I definitely believe it wouldn't be anything that does the killing, cause he had what he needed there at the arena. 😅

Great video, as always! Some questions: 1. I hypothesize that Chrollo needs to steal a national treasure not to evolve his Book literally (as in: develop a second bookmark), but rather: that's his new condition for stealing abilities. A hint was given in ch351 - Chrollo mentions that because of the Bookmark, he has now "more annoying conditions to deal with" (is it really plural? because I know it's not so easy in Japanese). So, if he plans to steal a powerful nen ability, he has to steal something of comparable material(?) value before going to fulfill his 1-hour conditions. That's only my theory though. I think if it was to evolve the Book, it would have been a strange condition to exist that we didn't know about prior. 2. I think the line about using Disgusting Telephone at Heaven's Arena is not random. Maybe there was really something off during the fight? Something that Hisoka figured after his revival? I also have one more about Chrollo's plan with treasures/Hisoka, because something seems off to me, but I have to sort it in my mind first

1. I have the "evolve" terminology from VoraciousDrake's translation, but I'm not sure any of us knows exactly what Chrollo's talking about, so yeah, don't put too much weight on it. But maybe he came up with this whole "evolving" gimmick as part of the change that led to the bookmark and it wasn't around before? Hard to say. 2. Yeah, he was looking for an ability of some sort before knowing Hisoka was gonna be a recurring problem. So maybe he really was looking for something that'd help him steal the Kakin treasures? I don't even think this is true. If Chrollo's got the book open to the cat (even via bookmark), that's one ability slot he's not using to fight for real. At such a disadvantage, Hisoka doesn't need to rush to deal a fatal blow - he could toy with him a little and, more importantly, bind him up so the book is closed just to be extra safe. Whoops, no cat anymore, you're dead! It's a lousy plan unless Hisoka is way too trigger happy, and that's not a Hisoka problem at all: he's always stalling out fights.

Tajao *might* not know everything, but I’m not buying the “omg you guys are soooo evil” act from a mafia underboss, and especially not a Kakin mafia underboss. I think his shock IS due to how quickly the Spiders are deconstructing the Heil-Ly, but not because he didn’t know the HLs plan, and instead because of how much he and his mafia associates had underestimated the Spiders. It wouldn’t be the first tome the mafia underestimated them in this series; in fact, it almost feels like a hallmark at this point. For instance, Hinrigh might be respectful of them, but he clearly thinks that he and Zakkuro are enough to take one of them out. As for the mafia, I think its becoming more clear that they are aware of the Heil-Lys plans and probably have no plans to stop it. They keep spouting off about keeping balance, so I think that in order to avoid an all-out war between factions, they don’t actually want to take out the Heil-Ly, but instead make sure that they’re strong enough to keep balance and even out the other two mafia groups. Having the HL cause chaos has the effect of covering up their true intentions of gaining power quickly, but also a secondary effect of bringing about the implementation of martial law. Martial Law benefits the mafia since they are the de facto rulers of the lower tiers, and all but guarantees their control. Thats just my theory about why they are being so coy about all of this and not addressing it head on.

And could Chrollo actually be planning to take the SW treasure and reverse its methodology to be "One for All" instead of members all dying and earning 1 winner with all the power? 1) Didn't occur to me for Chrollo to want/need a new ability to steal the treasures, but it's possible! But then he'd presumably need to look separately for the ability he wants to kill Hisoka with. If that were true, why not scan the crowd for both while he's at it? Since he's only scanning for one thing, my assumption is that he's just looking for the one ability, so that'd have to be the one for the Hisoka kill. 2) I guess there's no proof that the ancient king's Nen-after-death couldn't be redirected to do the opposite of what it's doing somehow, but there hasn't been any setup in that direction. So for the time being, I assume the treasures are useless to Chrollo in and of themselves. Though of course they upgrade Bandit's Secret and they're also bargaining chips for dealing with Kurapika (who wants to end the War).

However, I'm curious as to what the Dagger of the treasure does as the other 2 have already been seen/theorized: The Urn starts the SW ceremony while the Statue likely protects it - could this mean that the Dagger is a more "offensive" measure? This makes me wonder if Chrollo needs to steal all 3 treasures to upgrade his ability or if he actually only needs 1, at which point maybe he and Kurapika do get similarly involved albeit for different reasons - Kurapika seeking the Statue to allow for an escape/loophole whereas Chrollo could go for the Dagger, perhaps for its "offensive" capabilities to use against Hisoka. Really digging the theories and look forward to your future videos!!

Okay, I changed my mind. I think he *IS* actually looking for someone specific, and it is *not necessarily* the person he wants to steal an ability from. My main reason for thinking this is the description of the ability: "It helps you to find your *ideal partner*", and you can input a criteria to search for them. It was the ability of some girl named Narumi. My Hypothesis is that the searching criteria is something fixed by the ability, like something you get on a dating app. Maybe body size, height, eye color, age, etc. I really doubt this Narumi girl had a fixed criteria for nen type or type of nen ability. So, Chrollo uses this ability thought for finding dates to find people he knows information about, mainly their appearance, but doesn't know where they are. But WHO is he looking for?? What do we know about this person? - Chrollo thought they could be on Tier 3 or below, so nobody from royal family. - It's someone who is on Tier 2 or above. - It's a nen user. - Chrollo thought he could find them on Heaven's Arena. Who are they? I think the answer is the most obvious and boring one: *Hisoka*. I think he is just looking for him lol, but why make it a mystery then?, just to troll your audience?! Most likely yes, but maybe Togashi didn't reveal who is Chrollo looking for because it is a surprise (?), although I highly doubt it 😑. There's literally no one in the ship that fits with all the criteria I listed above except for Hisoka. Maybe Wing? That would be very funny 🤣. To reveal that Wing is in the ship.
