I don't think Chrollo needs to robber the treasures as a condition to steal the powerful nen he seeks. I think he is looking forward to robber the treasures to actually upgrade his skill hunter - as lowering the steps required to steal an ability (eg removing the need to target touch the book) or idk the possibility to use an ability that was removed from the book cos the target died or something... mho tho 😊 honestly, it fits the ability itself, it a thief tool. And also, the bookmarker appearing after York New heist could mean it is already some kind of upgrade..... one more thing, chrollo showed us numerous time ls he could steal powerful nen before without having to heist something, only performing his original 4 steps so that's why i think he is about to actually upgrade skill hunter. Thoughs?

In my opinion, I wouldn’t rule out that he might not know exactly what nen ability he needs, only the criteria required of a nen ability for him to defeat Hisoka, and so inputting that criteria into his phone to search for the “partner” / the person with the nen ability. - That panel where it says “the treasure he came to steal is a page” for his book but in order to do that, he must steal a national treasure first, in this case, the 3 Kakin national treasures. - Chrollo’s phone goes off just as Halkenburg’s body in a casket enters the funeral procession and his phone says “The person whose number you have called has been found, but is out of nen range.” It’s not like Chrollo had changed his position much from being in the crowd and seemed like a coincidence for the phone to go off at that moment. Making the assumption that Chrollo doesn’t know who or what ability he’s looking for yet and only the conditions he’s set on the phone to search and match the criteria needed to defeat Hisoka, could it be that Halkenburg’s ability is what he’s looking for? Bear with me here, Halkenburg’s body enters into the shot with that phone call but the real Halkenburg (his soul) and his nen abilities are in Balsamilco, on a higher tier of the ship. - We previously dismissed that it could be any of the princes’ abilities that Chrollo was looking for due to assuming he knew exactly what nen ability he needs. However, with the phone ability in the picture now, this could open it up to being anyone on the ship. Going with my theory so far, Halkenburg’s own nen abilities as well as the nen beast abilities would be well suited to defeat hisoka. Chrollo has phantom troupe “followers” and they have the same goal right now which is to kill Hisoka, giving him a more powerful aura. He could shoot an arrow into Hisoka which is unmissable and maybe even become Hisoka himself and then defeat him that way (sacrifice). - The 3 national treasures he aims to steal are closely connected to Halkenburg’s ability too by the ceremony and not only that, we know that Halkenburg only have a limited of hours left to end the succession war, which in my opinion ties in nicely with all the plotlines and characters heating up and about to blow. But I don’t know. Just a theory. We’ll see!

I love Skill Hunter as an ability because I'm pretty sure Chrollo is one of the few characters who could both achieve its uniquely difficult conditions, and utilize it effectively. The fact it is on theme with the troupe being thieves is also great.

I 100% think Chrollo is going to die. I only hope we get to see this upgrade before Chrollo heads off to hell. I wouldn't be surprised if this upgrade makes skill hunter a physical item a "nen artifact" that could be passed down to someone else. Perhaps the next head of a certain spider.

Great analysis. I think it makes sense Chrollo is looking for something to help him steal the treasures. The revelation between having to steal objects to upgrade skill hunter seemed huge to me. It really explained the "why" behind the phantom troupes heists. Chrollo seems to be motivated for revenge but greed and lust for riches never seemed like his jam. If we know something about Chrollo it's that he's very methodical. He's likely hunting for something that will lead to something else which will eventually land him the relics of Kakin.

A huge element to Chrollo's search for a partner that no one is talking about is the fact that Chrollo doesn't know who he's paired up with. That's the reason why he targeted the large crowd on Tier 3. I keep hearing "he's looking for Kurapika/Hisoka". Nah! He inputs certain criteria that leads him to his target. If it was Kurapika he was knowingly looking for, then it means he KNOWS Kurapika is on the ship...and if he knew, he wouldn't have to search crowds as Kurapika's designation and location is public information in the succession war. He's gonna be as surprised as us if its a known character like Kurapika. Or, it might be Togashi's way of introducing another new and vital character, and i won't be mad at all. He's the master of character development.

Personally I think your premise is wrong. You say the phone call he makes in this chapter is related to the relics, meaning he is trying to locate some person who knows information or the location of one or all of them, but that doesn't add up. Chrollo said he tried to call via that cellphone in Heavens Arena and it didn't find anyone, that was before Shalnark told him about what Kakin was up to with their public announcement in chapter 357. Meaning Chrollo didn't know about the specifics or the value of these treasures, he only knew there would be "substancial treasure". This leads to "Stealing a nen ability", which would be my bet. If this were to be the case this would mean Chrollo tried to look for this ability right before or after the fight with Hisoka in Heaven's Arena since there was a shit ton of people, with a high probability of nen users being in the crowd, but it failed, which is interesting, since Chrollo thinks Hisoka is dead at that point, so it all points that he made that call before the fight. What can this ability be? Also, it is interesting that Chrollo seems to have all kinds of inside information that is incredibly hard to have, I bet not even the Hunter's Information Tabern knows, and now that Shalnark is no more they have no Hunter to access it. Maybe this Love Dial 6700 skill is the key to Chrollos movements. Think about it, he needs information? Then he can make a call looking for "someone who knows about Kakin inner works" or something along those lines, which would reveal the existance of the succession contest. He could get all sorts of information like this. This also explains how Chrollo finds cool abilities to steal (just needs to set parameters and make a call). That or he actually has a secret informant somewhere.

Chrollo seems more prepared than Hisoka right now. I really don’t see Hisoka winning this unless he suspects Chrollo to pull something like this again. Because in round one chrollo also got all the abilities he thought he needed to defeat him. I’m not sure if that actually the case it just feels like Hisoka is going to get done in for good this time.

Skill hunter is such a versatile ability. I mean this is the third time he pulls a useful ability that suits the situation. When he stole neon ability and used it to evade Kurapika. When he used that teleport ability randomly to stop hisoka nobunaga fight. And Now he is using a useful non combat ability to locate a useful person for his plan. This shows a very high level of aura mastery derived from his knowledge about aura. Combined with his chess like mindset and genius plans it's hard to see chrollo dying even if he encounters hisoka before he acquire the supposed powerful nen ability. Way back in York New arc chrollo fortune didn't mention him dying versus hisoka so it must've been easy fight for chrollo because they were supposed to fight. Then Chrollo defeated him fairly comfortably using a calculated plan in heaven arena and that's when bungee gum although hisoka had faith it could counter any ability Chrollo uses it failed and Hisoka died horribly. So I assume Chrollo is scheming around the fact that Hisoka used post death nen to revive himself so now he wants a nen ability that can either nullify this unplanned for advantage. Although I doubt that if he bombed Hisoka body he can reuse the same trick.

His main focus isn't efficiency. Teaming up would be better but Bono said this is something he wants to do himself. There are way better ways to deal with Hisoka than what he's currently doing, but the point is not only killing Hisoka. Chrollo is being hella selfish for someone who talks a lot about putting the group first

The troupe could definitely defeat Hisoka in a fair fight. However, we don't know if Hisoka is alone, if he's where the succession war is taking place, having a confrontation there could be extremely risky. They would def kill Hisoka but they may lose a few members in the process.

@@edgbarra Phantom Troupe can't start a battle to that scale with the rest of the Succession War bcs the rumors and damage might travel way faster down to tier 5 where the citizens are and create huge panick, which will lead in Black Whale going down into ocean killing everyone. Hisoka put up a good fight against chrollo and based on how he's acting he only won because he planned they fight for a year and some change so he was basically guaranteed to win, hisoka would at least kill a few members in that fight and its not exactly easy to do when all this stuff is happening on the ship already Not to mention chrollo knows what's her face is in danger due to her fortune from york new she's probably gonna be the next to die he probably doesn't want to put any of them at risk And everyone in the troupe is extremely emotional and will not be fighting at their best they are a lot more likely to do something stupid to save chrollo and hisoka could use that to his advantage
