So much more simplified for the end user. Roku is something I've been using for over 2 years but this is just more appealing. Once HBO GO jumps on board & other applications join in, it's a steal for Google.

No, that is in fact a new Nexus 7, you can tell by the front facing camera position. The old Nexus 7 it was in the middle, the new one has is shifted to the right.

You can already 'cast' KZbin to your TV without using Chromecast. Your TV must have KZbin app installed, pair it with your device (scan a bar-code or type in numerical code), rest is the same. The only difference is that using Chromecast video is streamed straight from Google servers, without Chromecast it works as a peer to peer connection (home router / wireless base station -> device -> TV). I may be wrong though.

I am sorta tempted, it has a good price point but my apple tv does all this and more. If I could run apps on the chrome cast I would be sold. Have to say though google has the right idea just needs a lot more support. Anyone know if the chrome browser is fully browser supported or is it capable of only showing music, pictures and video?

All you need is WiFi at your home and an HDMI port on TV, and USB for power (you can use an adapter for power socket if you dont have USB)

check out unbox therapys first look on it. He shows, briefly, the chrome browser. There is about an half second lag but still looks good.

Any app can update with the feature, - currently needs Google's permission, but in future probably any app - so there's no reason to suspect VLC player couldn't chromecast your movies.

I ordered the chromecast maybe the second day it came out via Amazon.. it took 2 months just to come in, on back order apparently.. ok whatever shit happens... i got it this after noon and i have had nothing but trouble with it.. i had to "factory reset" the device almost 5 minutes after plugging it in. Also on a laptop, the only supported browser is google chrome, which i don't use and would rather not use.. i suppose i didn't research much about it but it just does nothing worth while.

so is there not any browsing capabilities at this point via Chrome? If you have an Xbox or a Google TV or Box this seems a little redundant. People have been saying "its so cheap". If that's all it does, $35 is to much. I'm just not understanding all the excitement over a product that's functionality already exists in other products.Google slaps there name on a product we have to have it. Hope to see more functionality from this in the future.

It'd be cool if the ChromeCast displayed Google Now info by default. I don't use my TV as a TV, so all it does is display my ChromeCast.

I do not believe it has the option to plug in an ethernet cable into it, only microusb for power. It will work with Android phones and tablets running 2.3 and higher. It will work on iPhones and iPads running iOS 6 and higher. It will work with Macs running OS 10 and higher and with PCs running Windows 7 and higher through the chrome browser.
