How to Setup the Google Chromecast

In this video I show you how to set up the Google Chromecast for the first time. If you have any questions, please ask in the comments below. I will be coming out with additional tips/tricks for future videos as well.
The Google Chromecast works great with KZbin, Netflix, Hulu and more!
I always power my chromecast with the usb slot in the back. If your tv does not have a usb port, you can use the included power plug.

I got one to binge watch a ton of KZbin's videos. I then tried gamaing on it and it turned out to be a beast I use it a ton with a Elagato to record the tv screen witch gits the game play. So this $35.44 gadget help me a ton.

Warden1S , my understanding is the firestick is the best for gaming and for the most games. Other than that I'm a fan of Roku for everything else. However I am now forced to purchase a Chromecast because basically they've made sure that we can no longer mirror image what is on our phones unless we have Chromecast. I personally think that is sad because it was available with Roku but was taken away, probably to force me into purchasing the Chromecast. I think it's seriously sad that they're starting to act like Apple now by forcing you to buy their stuff when Roku is obviously better. It's sad. If I were a true gamer I would probably add a firestick. I'm not sure if that's still the top runner for games. Maybe check with a Google search. I'm only using Chromecast to mirror image my phone. For everything else, it's Roku streaming stick per Cnet streaming device reviews.

Having major problems!!!! I'm 65 years old and live alone and don't have anybody to help me. I definitely have the Chromecast plugged in right. Let me preface this by saying a while back I had WiFi and my Chromecast worked fine. Then I switched to wire due to frequent loss of connection. I then set up Chromecast for the wired network. It worked fine. Now I have gone back to WiFi with another provider (cost reasons). I have it plugged in right and have done all you said and when it scans, it comes up that no device is detected. I keep checking it and all is plugged in right, the chromecast device to the HDMI port, then the other end into the USB port. It's right next to the WiFi modem. The light comes on with the chromecast. It even features the background images on my TV screen and shows Chromecast 4048 with the PIN number I entered from the internet provider. But going to setup, I am not getting the screen you show; it's going to immediate scan mode and then says there is no device detected! HELP!

+Donna Manning Likely, but that won't stop you from being able to use it. Both your TV and your Chromecast should be set to the same wifi Network. You can change settings through the Google home app. Additionally, when the code is on your screen you can go to Chromecast.com/setup on your mobile device to finish setting it up.

And if I go to control panel and try to uninstall chromecast so I can reinstall it, I get a message saying: "Messages file - "C:\Users\Donna\AppData\Local\Google\Chromecast\unins000.msg" is missing. Please correct the problem or obtain a new copy of the program."

After set up how long did the update take? I seem to be stuck there I did receive a code that it was set up but due to the Wi-Fi connection was not the same but that was before it did the update now we're just stuck with update spinning

+jose camposano A minute or two, max. You can switch your phone's wifi to match the wifi of your Chromecast. Or, remove the Chromecast in the Google Home app and try to re-add it.

I'm actually sold on this device over Roku because it doesn't require an account and password (with a payment method) to remember. Just another mobile device to control this adapter with (or to act as a remote which surprisingly isn't a problem in my household with an I-Pad and blu tooth)... @@tidechamp15 yes. It will allow you to mirror anything from your phone or pc via the chromecast.My tv asks me if I want to mirror directly to tv, or via chromecast (recognizable by a 4 digit code). Very handy.

it goes into a Denon receiver and the TV recognizes it as a valid input. And little cast window on the computer monitor displays KZbin as the current source. My router is Verizon Gateway 2.4 WiFi - but the signal isn't being sent to the chromecast. Thanks for your help, btw. I am homebound with RA, and thought this would be a great way since I have to lie horizontally in my bed many hours a day.
