Constructive Criticism: Using your time traps in bushes around the objective can give you a lot of vision. There were a few times that could've potentially saved yourself by placing some time traps in those spots.

This right here is what was driving me nuts about his play style aside from the talents he picked. Against that particular team, he should not have gone for a Q build. Should've tried to keep as much distance as possible. Through most of the game I was baffled by the failed use of traps. Then right at the 23.10 mark especially I'm like "Dude wtf, you're about to get ganked for sure, why did you not place traps in that bush!?!" Then sure enough 4sec later Tassadar strolls out and obliterates him. Not only would placing that trap in the bushes have secured the objective but it would have prevented his death too.

Yup. Even with all the Illidans, Azmos and Jainas I still would've picked napalm. Constant interrupt on objective or just enemy team diving you is the way to go.

You can see the spirit healer angel thing from WoW in the graveyard (bottom right) keep on this map when you are dead. Really cool! If you click it, you get that "ress now for 25% durability cost" message! Such a cool easter egg!

Also fun fact for Chromie, she probably ahs the best voice line to troll the enemy team in game. My friends and I when we play her will use the "Yaaaaaay! voice line every time we get a kill forcing our team and the enemy team to hear her cheer for their death!

It's the "safe" play, and I share your frustration. People are afraid of buildings Pally, even at lvl 30. They are too scary. #endrant

With Chromie’s video out, I assume Dehaka is just around the corner. If you see this Pally and haven’t yet recorded his episode, I highly recommend trying out his team fight/essence build. Not sure what’s most popular, but i main him with over 60% win rate, even pushed a 2/3 or 66.7% at one time when I was still competitive. Anyway, it’s pretty simple, regen globe talent at 1, hero takedown Essenes at 4, W CD reduction at 7, whichever for 10 and 16, AA or occasionally armor reduction at 13 and essence claws at 20. I’ve had games where my self healing reaches 130k+ and out heals even healers. It’s possibly not the popular build, but it’s quite potent and I can’t imagine playing him any other way. Just a thought.

Pally I have some honest feedback. As frustrating as your team's lack of soak was there were a few things you could've done as well. You mentioned it at the end but at level 13 you should be taking Time Out. A way to completely immune the Nova /Jaina's whole combo, strand Illidan when he rushes into you, and immune Azmodan's dunk. Second you should actually use your Time Trap sometimes. Not only will it stop Illidan cold, but in this game the vision it provided would've been very very helpful. Sorry to be a bit of a downer. But I know the game has been frustrating for you recently. And I also see that this game might have just been unwinnable with your team. Just a few ideas that could help to make your Chromie experience smoother.

Like he said, Q Build you shouldn't take unless the enemy team has a frontline. Gnome Speed Ahead grants 20% move speed and 200% health regen for a few seconds after casting Q. Something neat about Chromie is that Time Traps affect vehicle objectives (Triglav Protector, Dragon Knight) and stops hearthing, including Yrel when using Bubble Hearth.

I've noticed a similar issue with teammates making 0 sense. Today, I had a game with a full enemy team down, and all towers down.... 3/5 people were fucking around getting mercy and the nuke obj. I was pinging like crazy, only the murky and I responded to cop the win 🥲

How to play Chromie. Be good at skill shots and utilize clones properly. Emphasis on Q ability. Spam that shit. If people start coming toward you, run until they turn around and Q them again.

Think not having quick cast on for sand blast really helps. You dont need to be quick with Chromie, you need to hit, so visualizing range and direction helps with calculating the delay. At least that's what I experienced when trying chromie ;)

39 stacks you were so close! 11-3 now following your builds. I got 36 stacks on the level 1 quest by the end of the game. I was 2nd on my team in damage and only died twice. The match was pretty lopsided and I suck at using temporal loop well but not looking a gift horse in the mouth here. I remember when her level 18 talent blessing of the bronze just passively made the whole team better and it was busted I miss that talent. I'm like you I much prefer tanks or bruisers where I can just go in, soak up damage, do some CC and let other people get the kills.

switch your casts to on release. that way you can see where they are going to hit. you give up a little cast speed for a lot more accuracy. I have this on for just about every skillshot on all characters. it's better to land abilities slower than miss them faster. Even the pros like Fan play that way.

My new favorite build for chromie uses 1. Timewalkers pursuit 2. Andorhal Anomoly 5. Bronze Talons 8. Temporal loop 11. Here and there 14. Whatever 18. Blessing of the bronze… The build is SOOO annoying to play against because all it does is use as many time traps as possible, using Q echoes to escape, and utilizing the different cooldowns as a more utility mage. The best part is no one likes it and will actively flame you after games no matter what

Chromie is not a character that I play very often, but I have found the most luck in being in the back of my team. Unfortunately with the matchup that you had, you did not have a tank to sit behind and dish out damage. I am not one to use quick cast on any of my abilities for any character, besides tracer's blink and li-ming's teleport since I often lose sight of my mouse cursor and having visual aides helps a lot with my dyslexia ridden brain. Although for Chromie, I feel like having quick cast off so you can see the visual aides for your echos would change how you play the character, AND make it a lot easier tbh.

The Chromie rework basically heralded the end of my playing HotS; I've tried a couple of times to return, but it's the same mess. So many characters introduced with CC + sustain/improved-movement, and they removed her capacity to mitigate those things through extra range, bye bye, automatic traps, and penetrative shots. All the other characters I enjoyed playing fell into the same trap - you either played an ineffectual tentative poking dabble else you were systematically wiped out repeatedly for just fully engaging let alone over-extending. I really miss Chromie, her quirky dragon dialogues, and her cute "RAWR!" master emote. She was a S-tier character that required a unique skill-shot play-style to be effective, and was devastating when you did so. Now she's at best D-tier with a comparatively poor offering of attributes to provide any group - yeah CC through traps & rewind kind of adds something, but other characters provide that more effectively, not limited by proximity-based manually-operated traps that need to be managed by an unforgiving frailty glass cannon character with poor mobility/escape-options and a skillshot-based attack.

HONESTLY, i think pre-rework Chromie had two very viable heroics but now that her W is spread out between 3 hits the time warp is VERY inconsistent damage and compared to her other R, very unattractive. The zone slow pretty much nullifies any momentum the enemy team might gain from a kill or push and say in this case would keep the Illi from a strong push and escape or keep the Jaina/Tas/Nova still enough to get blown up. Once you start hitting W's, especially with assassin matches like these, Chromie can turn tides pretty fast. Her time Traps are also an invaluable engage/disengage. I miss pre-work Chromie

Talk about the teammates decision making skills but there was something to be said for your own multiple times there Pally. Overextending with no vision of the enemy away from your teammates when theres a Nova and a Illidan in the match? Basically asking to die and put your team down one for camp contests or objectives. Repeatedly walking forward into the enemy to drop W as a squishy artillery mage when you took sand blast talents and could've played safe with the Q poke? Theres equal blame to be had there.
