Im so unbalanced and disoriented i have to hold walls to walk a lot. I also feel unsteady sitting upright in a chair. Im much worse during gray and rainy weather. I have pressure in my head and pain in my neck. Does this sound too severe to be what you are talking about?
@TheSteadyCoach Жыл бұрын
Not at all. I have seen people completely bedbound. Your symptoms, especially the fact that they get worse during bad weather, sound exactly like what we are talking about.

Hi Doctor Yonit. I recently subscribed to your paid members app. I have been having chronic dizziness for the past 2 months. It started suddenly one day and I felt really off. It’s like rocking on a boat feeling . Happens when walking/standing. I feel better when I drive . The dizziness comes and goes , but it’s there for half of the day . I feel there’s days when I don’t feel it that much , and days where I feel bad . My condition is not that bad now and I can continue my professional life. Will this get worse in the next few months ? Regarding testing, I have done mri of head , eeg . Nothing there . Did an ANS and the doctor suggested my pulse is bit high . Did a VNG and it says unilateral weakness is 36% on the right side . Neurologist says talk with an ENT. My ENT doesn’t want to diagnose me and said he is not specialized in hearing/balance issues and suggests I take an appointment with a neurotologist (appointment is months out ) . I recently just started physical therapy as well as per doctors advice.

I know the reply above is well intentioned but that is not good advice if you have a unilateral weakness- that alone explains why you have symptoms. Since it is new onset, vestibular therapy is where you need to start!

@@TheSteadyCoach thank you doctor for the reply . Yeah hopefully therapy helps . But one thing that strikes me is why I feel fine driving , which keeps me thinking if it’s mdds !?

I have had this pppd and Menierre's for 33 years. Some years were better than others. I have found that driving helps me. I think it is because my vestibular system (left ear is full, tinnitus, deaf, dizzy) is hypo active and craves the stimulation of the sensory activity of driving. I am a former teacher so this is not a medical opinion but I have much more experience with this than most experts. It started with a thyroid storm due to over medication. I have had and still have vestibular migraine, pppd, the boat rocking for sure, Menierre's spin outs , ....pretty much all if it. I have a physical issue, probably inner ear damage to the nerve fibers. I just try to live with it. Have been to many types of treatments that help a little, but there is no cure. Mostly I pray for a miracle even after 33 years. Acupuncture helps somewhat. Eye exercises help. WuWei body scans help. And all these informational videos by Dr. Yonit Arthur really help with acceptance. I truly hope and pray you fully recover. Fear of it can be overwhelming. Having something to try to interrupt the fear/dizziness helps like Peppermint oil, nasal sprays, meds (Motrin and a Coke help me), antihistamines and supplements (ginger, B vitamins etc). It is a huge weight to carry, I understand..

How do I find a great mind body therapist near me. I’ve been going to a therapist for the last 4 months and they just don’t seem to have the knowledge I need to help me through this. I tried the directory and there were none near me 😢

Hi Alan, I'm sorry to hear this. Most mindbody therapists work online, so my suggestion would be to interview a few who can work with you via telehealth. You may need to try a few to find a good fit.

Doctors are now prescribing ssri to treat pppd better to go the natural route
@BlessedKarma10 Жыл бұрын
Not always. I was so far past natural route when this kicked in. Snri saved my life. I can now balance them and mind body techniques with natural resources. There is no shame in ssri/snri especially when at the high end of the spectrum with this disorder.
@TheSteadyCoach Жыл бұрын
I think medications are an individual choice. Totally respect going the no medication route and also respect the medication route. My main concern is that people should still do the inner work regardless of medications. Hats off to anyone who has to go through this regardless of how they decide to deal with it.

Symptoms can look similar but as Cherie said, ataxia is caused by progressive nerve degeneration = tissue damage.

Hi DrYo. My PPPD started from BPPV, because I was very scared. During PPPD recovery, I tried not to think about that event, and I was getting better at ignoring my symptoms. But the other day, I had a weird dizzy sensation that lasted 3 seconds, and freaked me out. I know you always say "dizzy is normal", so is it just best to try not to think about it? (I don't want to get stuck in that loop, but I keep thinking what if it happens again??)

It’s best to think about it but realize it is not weird. It’s normal dizziness. Avoiding thinking about it means you think it might be dangerous-it’s not. You are close to cure. But you still think it’s a problem…

I’m having chronic dizziness on and off for four years. Post menopause and currently left a long term job and out of work. I’m in education so had a lot of stress with students with behaviour and aggression. Had a vertigo incident two days ago and still feel unwell. I’ve had a brain scan two years ago and seen ent. No cause this far. I have been an anxiety sufferer all my life due to trauma. Is the job uncertainty a factor do you think. I am easily stressed and always have been x

Job uncertainty can certainly be a trigger for this kind of stress.

I'm Menopausal due to surgery. Changing hormones have really changed my life. I'm on hrt but I feel unwell all the time. Dizziness and ear fullness are very persistent. This has been increasing during perimenopause and now since surgical menopause. I find coping in any capacity very difficult. ❤

For people that have ear problems or inner ear damage, to say stress is a result is not true. Some dizziness is not reversible. The bobbing and the bouncing as a result of inner ear damage will never go away… mine has been persistent for over 16 years…. It comes even when I’m not stressed.
@TheSteadyCoach Жыл бұрын
Thank you for sharing your experience. As we state in the interview, stress does not mean "I feel stressed" or "I had a stressful day." It is a state of nervous system hyperarousal that results from internal patterns of reactivity, unprocessed trauma and other things. And I know plenty of people with clear permanent nerve damage, including my friend featured in this video, who do not have chronic symptoms. kzbin.info/www/bejne/r2e4gqCEiNOJfNE
