You are a lifesaver Dan. This is exactly my problem...too much focus on the symptoms and thinking about them all day long.

Makes perfect sense but it's hard to focus on anything other than the symptom when it's really 'colorful' (to borrow Dan's qualifier). THE BRAIN WANTS YOUR ATTENTION.

Thx Dan, as always. My mind makes so many connections and associations. For example, sounds silly but when I’m cutting tomatoes the same movie pops in my mind. Or when I do a certain task on my computer, a british show pops in my mind- every time! Plus, and what’s most frustrating, is that I have songs playing in my head ALL day, non stop. I know the TMS issues I have are due to this type of conditioning. My question is, why does the brain do this? I know certain smells can bring a memory to mind in an instant, but is what I explained a form of distraction and or maybe a safety thing??

Why does the brain do this? Because that's what the brain does. It's not unique to you. You have a memory. Certain things bring up memories. Again, don't over-think this. Your brain is normal. You are not broken mentally or physically. Want to change the music playing in your head? Change the station. Put on music on the radio or your computer. And DECIDE that having a soundtrack to your life is NOT frustrating. Music can be joyful if you decide it's not frustrating.

Hey Dan, I am suffering from chronic hip ribs and neck pain, As you are talking about don't focus on pain do what makes you happy.. I love do exercise move my body, but whenever i do exercise after some time like some hours., my flareup comes that mekes me anxious and depress . Due to that my mind automatically shift to the pain. What can we do for this ?

I would say in those hours after excerciss, do your best to accept those pains and be indifferent to them when they come, like Dan is saying take your attention off of them, don’t make them into something they might not be. Also, it’s normal to have pain if you’ve gotten it doing some certain activity before since the brain makes associations and thinks you can’t do this said activity, it doesn’t mean you can’t rewire your brain to teach you that your safe
