The RE that interests me is definitely the Himalayan. I will always pick function first, including weight, price second, looks from the rider position third (including pretty TFTs), and looks from off the bike last. The Versus I am interested is a stroked 300 to 400 cc twin, with a heavier flywheel. Electric bikes are city only to me until range gets to 200 miles at least. Swappable batteries would also get there for me. Old guys on old bikes will definitely get a like from this geezer! Cheers, and good to see you more chipper this week!

Making a 450 Tuareg makes more sense than what some people were suggesting for a “mini-Tenere,” which they suggest a 300cc variant. If Yamaha and Aprilia would make “mini” versions of their advs, 450cc seems like a reasonable minimum. This is coming from someone who wants to see a wr300r, a light(er) Japanese dual sport.

Love the idea of Ducati getting into these new sumo and dirt bikes. As far as CanAm...its a start. Here in the USA we have routes called BDR's....Backcountry Discovery Routes. Long remote rides. A guy just finished riding the longest most remote ride...the Idaho BDR which is 1350 miles long. With half the gas stations for refueling are in dirt road towns. He was able to charge ever day. He did it on that big Zero Adv bike. He is the first. So its a start and cant wait to see where it goes in the next 5 to 10 years. When riding in remote wilderness, it sure would be nice to have a quiet ride. Would see more wildlife.

They helped launch the ADV genre (yes, I know there were others before them but not with the coverage and reach) which has been fun to see it evolve. With the TAT, TET and BDR's (in USA), we have an abundance of opportunities for almost any skill level and bike. Looking forward to LWH's release.

If it was priced right I could absolutely justify it as a commuter and weekend play bike.

The can-am ad is filmed around Griffintown district of Montréal. Around here anything with Bombardier on it will sell. The people that bought Bombardier acid battery community vehicles really liked them here and were reluctant to let Bombardier buy them back when died. Personally, I'm a can-am fanatic. I've owned four enduro bikes and was interested when they started making trikes and now bikes, but I just couldn't justify buying one without a use case. Everyone keeps pointing to the Scram in that diagram and no-one seems interested in the Rally looking image.

I love that swingarm drivetrain in the Can-Am, but as an ADV the bike is useless because of the dang range problem. Surely Can-Am understands this, so what’s the point? It’s so frustrating. If manufacturers would lean into the range issue and concentrate on MX or trials bikes, or even just little around town runabouts, where range isn’t a necessary, maybe it’d be another story. And, yeah, that Ducati 698 single is a beast. It would make for a killer dual sport or light ADV.
@BobSacamano-dy3wg2 ай бұрын
Can Am never advertised it as an 'adventure bike', so it's a moot point. Their background is MX, and 84km is about what you can expect from an MX or Enduro bike in hard riding conditions. So the bike really is on point. The only question is how it performs, and if it would hold up against a typical 250cc.
@tracythorleifson2 ай бұрын
@@BobSacamano-dy3wg - Bob, you might want to check your math. 84 kg is 185 pounds. The Can-Am Origin weighs in at _412 pounds._ The new Triumph TF 250-X, an absolute baller of an MX bike, weighs in at 230 pounds. If Can-Am ditched about 2/3 of the Origin’s battery weight, plus the ADV/rally fairing, you _might_ have a pretty decent MX bike, and something you could quickly charge between 30 minutes plus 2 lap races. Which was kinda my whole point in the first place.

@@BobSacamano-dy3wg - Ah. Sorry about that, Bob! My comment still stands, though. The Origin is way too heavy for MX. But you don’t need 84 km for a single MX race. Especially for amateur racing. Adding a 20 Kwh additional battery on a e-motorcycle can cost from 2000 to 3000 additional dollars, and the added weight is more than 20Kg... Why is a rear 18" better than a 19" on an enduro/adv?
@iridium7712 ай бұрын
Not sure as far as performance, maybe marginally easier to lean the bike/lower seat height. Main reason is 18’’ is a much more common rear tire size so there’s more choice when it comes to buying tires

You get more tyre cushioning and flex so more traction and less punctures, 19" give more precise handling as the tyre is lower profil. It's the same as on a car.
