They should release it in a 4 wheel version too. Id buy it in a heartbeat.

Hi Solid. Finally did it just bought a CRF 300L. Thanks for all the info and enthusiasm for them. It will sit next to my 1150 GS very nicely. Hope you’re well. Regards William.

Nice video, mate. Right now, I am on the fence about picking either of them and am unable to come to a conclusion. But after watching your video, MX makes more sense. I want to ask about the shoe size here. I am perfectly fine with UK size 8 sports shoes and okay with UK size 9 adventure boots, too. Should I stick to size 9 for MX as well or go further up to UK 10? I am ordering online, and the chances of returning the shoes are slim. Thanks once again.
@chroniclesofsolid12 сағат бұрын
Thanks 👍 I’d love to give you a straight answer on sizing. Just like shoes they all fit a little differently f 😅 Sorry I can’t help more. Perhaps your adventure boots brand do an MX boot?

Fat and slow with a crap 5 speed, its probably going to be expensive too. Should of been a twin cylinder , it's a farm bike.

in the constant search for less weight , ktm made cams without proper beef , on a dirt machine we could see the error , on a street bike it was just stupid😊.

This is what Yamaha shoulda done-brought out a Tenere 400, like riders have been begging for. But nope. Looks like Japan’s thrown in the towel when it comes to competing with China in the sub-500cc game. Unless, of course, Kawasaki decides to drop a surprise on us. Fingers crossed!🤞

For what I've been able to learn the price will be high. Over 10,000€. Meaning you could add a little and get a 690/701 for almost the same money. And by end of year probably same. Unless of course the drz also lowers by end of season. If this is true Suzuki is pricing themselves out of the market.

This is a win all the way around. No we didn't get a 6th gear but hey, the wide gear ratio will help. The best part is that no gear ratio numbers have been released yet so nobody knows what to expect. As long as the price is still somewhat in line with normal mid-weight single cylinder thumpers we'll be golden!!!

Sounds like the only improvement is the suspension. I don't like fuel injection on bikes. I guess it's just necessary to meet emissions.

If suspension is the same, engine is a bit down but EFI, and ergos are similar I’m OK with the 5spd gearbox BUT ONLY if they either reduced 1&2 a bit and increased 5 a bit. If they did, I’m sold. Take my money!

I think DRZ4S it's important bike in soem way. 5 gears and weight tells that Suzuki did not want to put a lot of money into development. I hope it will be a hit, and it will tell Suzuki that it's worth to put some money into refreshing DR650, and maybe more money than here, and add 6'th gear and work on weigth. As you said, this motorcycle is quite fit into European market where previous 400 is not available (as a new bike) however we are speaking about market that is regulated a lot not only in matter of emissions, but also in comuting, there are lots of highways and sadly I think that without this last gear this bike may not "hook in" as easy, becuyse it would be considered a playground toy, not small offroad traveler. We don't have much offroad here and even dualsports here should consider longer highway rides. as for drive by wire and complexity, another downside that you did not mention is price. price is not known now, however according to estimated price, It's not ideal. Because we don't have that much place to legally do offroad, and as i mentioned,. lack of 6'th gear may make it less appealing to travelers, Ii think that it may end up as a costly toy, and in such it will need to compete with cheaper chinese bikes like CfMoto, Kove or Vouge, which may not be as good in some areas (like suspension), however they are almost half estimates price, so they may be cheaper toys, and for more extreme users, they will provide money for some aditional mods after purchase, and still fit in bare DRZ4S budget. however despite that, i hope the best for this bike, and i really hope that it will be a success that will encurage Suzuki to update DR650 to a modern standards, so that i could replace my Tiger800 for something lighter, yet still capable of traveling highway with luggage across half of europe to be able to do offroady trips to Albania, Italy or French Alps.

Why is KTM going under (amongst other reasons)? Their highly flawed product quality combined with abysmally bad customer service. I am sure everyone here has seen the FB group of owners with camshaft problems. In a recent lawsuit KTM had to disclose how many cases of bad LC8c camshafts they actually had to fix. The number disclosed was 12,000 for the 790 line and 14,000 for the 890 line. That is just what they agreed to fix. The actual number of engines with these problems is much, MUCH higher of course. I see dozens of owners just on that FB page walking away from the brand because they were shafted.

Being a dad should always be the very first thing. Kudos for not being shy to put it out there. Life brings changes and family is probably the biggest one. And adjusting to it should be natural and not seen as “sacrifice” (even though - let’s be honest - there are moments when it may feel that way). I myself am father of two who are far from standing on their own feet. So I need to be here for them for many years to come. So while I do plan to start riding next year, I am very conscious about it and decided to do my best to keep myself safe and have the riding as occasional ‘time off’ rather than “focusing more on myself”. Take care and enjoy your lit girl. She will grow up faster than you can keep up with .

In the US, Kawasaki lowered the price of their KLX300 by $750 this year. That's nuts. Nothing is decreasing in price. That's going to put pressure on the new DRZ4S.

I was beginning to think Suzuki was going to ride their US EPA grandfathered carburetor to their funeral. I'd have liked a 6th gear but a 5 speed works if there is a low 1st gear and a high 5th gear for highways, and an even wide spread in between. Suzuki should go head to head with the KTM 390 Adventure, Kove 450 Rally, CF Moto 450 Ibex and the newly announced BMW F450GS by making an off road oriented lightweight adventure version of the DRZ4S with a 4-5 gallon fuel tank, proper bash plate (even if it's thick UHMW plastic), engine protection bars and a large rear rack.

As a competitor for the CRF300L and the like its' OK, but the DRZ400 had that well covered anyway. I suspect in a few years they will add a few HP and reduce weight a few KG

Hopefully Suzuki will keep selling the DRZ-400E in Australia alongside the DRZ-4S. I see the 4S as a good replacement for the S but not the E. If Suzuki stop selling the E in Australia that class of bike is gone forever (i.e. an XR style simplistic REGISTERABLE low-maintenance Japanese dirt bike, with low tech and a plastic tank). If Suzuki can continue selling the E and they drop the price back below A$10K it will sell forever. Suzuki got around the ABS laws by getting the weight of the E just low enough to be classified as an "enduro bike" (within the ABS regulations definition) by putting a snorkel in the tank to reduce the official capacity to 7L and ditching the tool kit. The DRZ 4S is all upside for countries that don't get the registerable E but potentially a loss for Australia. It's really hard to position the DRZ-4S until we know the price. If its closer to A$10k than $15k then you can justify the cost of mods to make into what you want.

I didn't check it,but the KTM 690 is 158 dry, wet is around 175 , depends on the tank size. My friend have 701 with extra petrol tank and rally tower, and it is more than 170kg. KTM gives always dry weight specs.151 kg for drz is ok. It is a dual sport, not a race bike. For me it looks ok. It's not amazing, but it's ok.

I want a bigger Himalayan but still with a decent clearance height. I also love the design language used on the Himalayan 450, it's quite a unique and slender shape compared to most other adventure bikes on the market.
