When the boss theme is titled Prisoner of Fate and Miguel is literally the Prisoner of Fate. (It also plays in another boss battle but this one has weight in it and it is in the main storyline) + the quotes are truth bombs. + no fanfare after winning. Goosebumps back then when I played it. Goosebumps now that I see it in a remaster.

Is like a sad song, but in the chorus it shows a bit of hope, like saying "after all, I knew this was going to happen, finally". This song speaks for Miguel in first person. Yasunori Mitsuda is my favorite composer since I played Chrono Cross for the very first time on my ps1, 22 years ago. I love this game with all my heart.

Weak-Minded followed up by HolyDragonSword might be the nastiest combo in the game. This dude was the Bain of my existence when I played this game the first time on the OG version. When I discovered Diminish, it was game over for him then.

I love the fact they didn't nerf the holy dragon sword in the remaster, I feel like one of the most iconic things about chrono cross is the fact everyone is caught off guard by the dorky looking boss who starts off slow with weak moves and out of nowhere one shots your characters, and is probably the hardest fight in all of chrono cross, and for a storyline boss is one of the deadlier bosses in any JPRG ever for the fact he can end your party real quick with his use of elemental weakness and his attacks which hit incredibly hard for that part of the game.

He is the true prisoner of fate, he was trapped trying to help a dear friend. He should be the hardest in the game, it’s the protagonist fathers dear friend, and saw death after death.

If you are not properly prepared for Miguel, he will kick your ass. He tormented me back in the day when I was unaware of using diminish and Wight Knight Doppelgang (or Lagoonate if you don't get him) to wail on this guy.

That's why I don't recommend using her Holy Dragon Sword will already kill Lynx on the PS1 version first run instantly so NEVER use a 2nd Black Innate user like Harlie even WITH her lv 5 tech used to try to decrease Holy Dragon Swords damage it will still kill her or Lynx IN 1 use anyways so she's useless against him. Garai is the same without the Evade boost cheat on NEVER use her against Garai either his 2 White Innate tech skills can already kill Lynx with 1 use.

He's actually pretty weak. All he has is brawns but almost no defense. Use diminish and run him down with physical attacks, also make sure to have multiple aoe curative elements like heal all since they're broken. I think when I went against him Harle did go down but I revived her using the "revive" element.

I used Diminish on the PS1 version and I still had Holy Dragon Sword kill Lynx in 1 use and at this point theirs ONLY 2 revive elements you CAN have against him.

@@veghesther3204 I am playing the ps1 version too. I used diminish and ran him down with physical attacks and healing elements. I remember he did like 150+ damage with holy d sword under diminish and my lynx had like 300+ max hp at that point. There's no way for him to one shot lynx under diminish unless you're REALLY behind on equipment. I only used revive on Harle and I only had 1 revive at that time because I didn't know how to get a second one. This is a VERY recent playthrough, I'm actually at terra tower rn, so there's almost no way I am misremembering.

Equipment wise I only used the Mithril based weapons NOT the armor of that type and could still possibly have a 300 HP Lynx under Diminish still barely survive Holy Dragon sword if at all that's why using Harlie isn't worth using against him.

My first go around I beat Miguel, but had trouble with Dario. My brother at gis house at the time was the opposite. He had trouble with Miguel and beat Dario on his first go around. Man, these memories. I didn't have Harle in my party either. And I used anti and diminishing items. With Dario I had the black plates. Still gives me chills. Salute.

Also, they reworded his dialogue on the field forfeit part he is supposed to say "leave the PLAYING FIELD IN A FORFEIT" While I appreciate the graphical improvements, sound improvements etc I do not like the reworded dialogue nor the censoring of Marcy and Riddel and other female characters that are eye candy.

Oh Miguel the boss I like the most but at same time I hate the most, a true nightmare when I was 12 because I become prisioner of my fate thanks to this guy but at the same time the most satisfactory to defeat and most significative to me due I only was able to dedeat this guy when I was 18 just in mu graduation day from high school is like he was guarding the other half of the game when I were ready, thats why I hate and like at equal parts this boss, I used to be his prisioner during all my childhood but when I broke free this guy give me the most legendary boss fight and dialogues pre and post fight

Now that Chrono Cross re-released to a much wider accessibility I'd like to write a quick and dirty guide to those who may be stopping by. First off: There are many bosses in Chrono Cross which will absolutely freak the fuck out if you use any sort of magic on them, some just their opposite innate. Miguel is one of those bosses which will start spamming high-level white innate magic if you use magic on him. Don't even bother using black spells as he will more than likely immediately retaliate by using AntiBlack. Hell, he might just cast AntiBlack on a character if they look at him funny. The key to winning is using physical non-element attacks and focusing on healing and defense. Despite Harle being pretty squishy and black innate, I think I'll be bringing her to this fight because of Moon Shine, which is great for defense and lowers the damage of that damn HolyDrgSwd spell, which Miguel uses constantly right after using StrongMinded on himself or WeakMinded on the targeted party member. Cheating asshole. If you're not too experienced at optimal fighting you probably shouldn't bring Harle. But hey, what can I say? I like the kid. Second tip: He'll also retaliate if you try to debuff him. Often through the fight he'll randomly use StrongMinded. Do NOT try to counter this. Don't fuck with this guy's magic defense. He really, REALLY likes his magic defense. Third and final: He will occasionally do a physical attack for around the ballpark of 50 damage before hitting you with a high-level spell. This is especially dangerous with HolyDrgSwd because his elements do almost enough damage to 1-shot but sometimes fall short, and this whack is usually enough to set up for a kill. Once his HP dips into critical levels (and if you're keeping track in your head you can start right before that point; he has 1950 HP) you can start using spells as he'll begin spamming his high-level white magic regardless. He also starts using HolyLight and if I recall correctly, SuperNova. This is when you bust out all those black innate spells and other hard-hitting magic you saved for most of the fight until now.

I don’t think he sucks. Actually every character in the game can be useful. The problem is the games leveling system. It doesn’t tell people even though all characters get stat bumps at star levels there are hidden stat bumps in between that ALL characters can get. Therefore a lot of people just roll with a handful of characters and ignore the rest.

@@zhaoyun255 I never use Diminish unless they use Magnify. Really cheesy. Besides people say using Harle is dumb but I’ve used Harle, Lynx and Sprigg/Wight Knight. Guess what? On non new game+ runs I didn’t use diminish, didn’t have one person die, and beat Miguel multiple times this way. Why? Because I used my head, managed stamina, chained black elements together off full stamina bars after he attacks for massive damage and managed the field effect to keep it going fully white. Funguy has high HP and strength. He’s not one of the worst. A lot of stats level up with even with neglect of character at star levels but stat bonuses add up. Of course players you generally play with are going to be better. I watched Serge fight an end boss that had 100 less HP than mine on the first run on the same boss. I’m actually going to do a new run now and when I get to the point where I fight Miguel I’ll post a video when I can
